Pros: Carefully renovated historic house, many nice details. Nice bed, Well sized room and bathroom. Good Wifi.
Cons: Soundproofing not perfect
Pros: Seemed new/remodeled and I had a big room
Cons: I got there at 10:30pm and the reception was closed. Apparently it closes at 10 which seems crazy for a 3 star hotel. Had hard time contacting them to get the door open as the buzzer didn't seem to work. The heater in my room was not working either so pretty cold night.
Pros: Underfloor heating in the bathroom. Quiet location. Easy to walk into town. Nice little touches in room.
Pros: + Good location, walking distance from Station and to the city center, but yet on a quiet street. + Friendly staff + Modern, spacious and comfortable room + Loose leaves tea & espresso machine in the room + Open bathtub and wash basin in the room yet with separated toilet and separated shower cabin + Strong shower and big bathtub + Comfy sitting area + Small balcony with morning sun + Enough sockets to charge gadgets for a whole family + Natural skylight for the bathroom area + Generally a room full of light + Good climate control + Wooden floor
Cons: The walls of the room could use a paint refresh.
Pros: A unique hotel. So individual and personal. Like staying at your best friend's house
No question staying in City Hotel Groningen will make you happy. At least, not if you’re into modern, slightly arty interior, comfort and a location close to the centre. Cruise through the city on a bike that we can arrange for you or go shopping in the coolest streets of the city. In the cosy hotel bar or terrace in front of the hotel you can fully recharge.
Pros: Finally a quiet hotel in the center of Groningen. Tried 3 others and all of the others we noisy! This one was very quiet, but that had maybe something to do with my window with a view to the roof of the building next doors.
Cons: My view outside was towards a wall of roof tiles...
Cons: Hard pillows. Tiny windows
Pros: Superb location. Everything is just nearby. We would prefer to stay here again next time. Kept on telling my husband that we made the right choice choosing City Hotel. All the staff are friendly and accommodating. You can also already arrange with them parking slot for your car. Although it costs additional fee, but for your own convenience it’s worth it.
Pros: We loved everything about the hotel and all the little extras that made our stay so special. The reception staff was also amazing. Thank you
B&B De Oude Nadorst lies just outside of the lively city of Groningen, set in a traditional farmhouse building overlooking the scenic countryside. It offers both a spacious suite as a unique caravan accommodation. The shower facilities are shared when the suite and caravan are both booked, while there is an en suite private toilet available in each unit. Every morning, an extensive breakfast is served in the room. There are also packed lunches available to take away and dinner is available upon request. In front of the farmhouse, there is a large garden where you can lay down in the grass and enjoy the quaint setting of De Oude Nadorst. The nearby area is also ideal for long hiking and cycling trips. The Groningen city centre is just 4 km by bike or car. The Zernike University complex is 3 km away.
Pros: I liked the surrounding landscape and the style of the dining room. Also, I liked that children with special needs work in the farm
Cons: The door was very old and heavy and we could not go into the bathroom at night because we thought it was locked. Desired explanation within the website
Pros: What a great place to stay: Only a 20 min bike ride into Groningen and, yet, there is a great farm atmosphere. The owner was very welcoming and even offered us a ride into town to get rental bikes. Speaking of perfect service: we were served a wholesome breakfast directly to the caravan in which we stayed. The icing on the cake were the several farm animals which even could be fed (lambs, pigs, horses, alpacas, and many more). I would recommend De Oude Nadorst to anyone who likes a good farm stay with all the benefits of the city nearby.
Cons: Rental bikes on site would be much appreciated.
Pros: The location is amazing. Quiet with the farm animals around. I lived in the caravan so I had to go to the actual house in order to use toilet and shower.
Cons: Take into consideration that property is not located in the city so you have to use bicycle bus or taxi.
Pros: Charming and cosy stay
Cons: The toilet and shower were in the house, so in that way it was like camping. It wasn’t however a big issue for us

Pros: location, comfortable hotel. Good breakfast (not included).
Cons: rather detached staff. Pretty hard beds.
Pros: This has been our go-to hotel for a few years now. The staff, service and rooms are excellent and the location is perfect. We have family in Groningen and staying at the Hotel de Ville is part of the enjoyment of the entire visit.
Cons: No minus points for us!!
Pros: Good clean hotel, friendly staff
Cons: Quite expensive for one night
Pros: Pancakes were fluffy but lukewarm. Staff very polite and accommodating. Nice atmosphere!
Cons: Scrambled eggs cold. From midnight til 1.30am guests in the 'garden area' below my window talking very loudly every 20 min when they left bar to have a smoke break. Shouted down once....but their memories were short at the next break
Cons: The room was very cold when I arrived, and it took a while until it got warmed (windows were open and heaters were not on).
Pros: Indo like the rooms and breakfast here. Good value for money and a very pleasant staff. You are downtown located. Every interesting part of the city is at walking distance

Pros: The room was great. View was lovely. Staff were very friendly. Hot chocolate was great. Free water in the room was appreciated. Free tea and coffee in reception was good
Cons: No English Breakfast tea in the room, nor milk and only 1 sugar.
Pros: Basic, clean, comfortable short stay hotel in very good location
Cons: Unattractive colour of room decoration

Cons: It could do with maybe room service or hot snacks?
Pros: Location is perfect
Cons: No restaurant and single beds
Pros: The view from the 7th floor over the city was nice
Cons: I had booked a 2 persons room for 1 persons use but got a 1 person room. The rooms are very noise, you can hear everything happening on the hallway and the room next to you.
Pros: No big surprise with this Hôtel. A good price/quality ratios for NL, confortable rooms with simplist design. I recommand for business trip.
Cons: I had to wait 20min for re-planishment breakfast buffet and actually add no time for. It was also a bit cold because of a very large wndow without double glass.
Pros: My room on the top floor was quiet and had a nice view. Breakfast was very good. Free wireless internet.
Cons: Shower drain was blocked.
Pros: Good rooms.
Cons: Windows are not soundproof, so the sound of traffic can be heard at night.
Pros: free tea/coffee service, great buffet breakfast
Pros: it was convenient to concert venue
Cons: I did not like the atmosphere of the hotel. The room was very warm, there was no airconditioning and the windows hardly opened. The curtains were too short, so in the morning the room was much too bright to allow a good bedrest. Overall the building the hotel is situated in looks daunting. I was discomforted during my stay and would not go back to this hotel again.
Pros: Central location.
Cons: Lack of safety deposit box in room.Lack of drink making facilities in room.Lack of soap rack in shower.
Pros: more atmosfere, music and drink in the bar.
Cons: Breakfst is too expensive for the quality/variety of the meal offered
With a stay at Boutique Hotel De Doelen, you'll be centrally located in Groningen, steps from Grote Markt and 12 minutes by foot from Groninger Museum. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities.
Pros: Cozy gas fireplace with seating space near the reception. Location was right on the market, city centre, with supermarkets close by. Complimentary coffee and tea next to the elevator and we could store a package in the hotel refrigerator (no room fridge).
Cons: Double room was small for two people - one of them had to squeeze in to the bed and very uncomfortable toilet arrangement (wall was too close so if you were taller than 1.60 your knees couldn't fit and had to sit sideways). No coffee or kettle in the room so have to get downstairs to get morning coffee. Also not the hotel's fault, but some of the buildings around the hotel had really loud music through the night (2 of the 3 nights we stayed there).
Pros: I absolutely love this hotel! It is right in the center of the city and oozes warmth and charm. As a frequent visitor to Groningen, this is always my first choice when it is available. The rooms are large and cozy at the same time. The beds are wonderful. The lobby features a wood paneled drawing room, complete with fireplace. Step out the front door into the Grote Markt. It doesn't get any more central than this. The staff are friendly and helpful. And it is very often the least expensive option. There is nothing about this place not to love.
Cons: Nothing. It's ideal.
Pros: Central location. Good value for the price.
Pros: Centrally located Very friendly staff Quiet room
Cons: Lousy wifi Lousy TV Bed placed against the wall on one side
Pros: Great room Very sweet and good lighting. ... soft and Nice
Pros: Great breakfast and central location. The hotel itself was also really charming, clean and well taken care of! The staff were friendly and helpful, when we went for breakfast there was a gentleman offering to make us an order of tea or coffee while we took food from the buffet. Very dedicated service!
Cons: We asked for a double bed but received two singles pushed together. But it is the only thing we can mention, and not enough to put a damper on the lovely stay.
The NH Groningen hotel is in the perfect setting to explore the city. The main square, Grote Markt, Martinitoren, the Cartoon Museum, and the Museum of Art are within walking distance of the hotel. For lunch and dinner, we serve a healthy variety of options at NOSH. You can order light favorites such as salads, sandwiches, soups, and freshly baked goods. For meetings and functions, we have three event rooms for up to 130 people.
Pros: the hotel is wonderful and on a bus route from the station ; which should be better promoted
Pros: Nice clean bed linen, great breakfast
Cons: I wish it was slightly closer to the city centre, that's why my score is 8.8 and not 9.2, but nothing to worry about if you don't mind walking 5-10mins
Pros: The location is excellent because very close to the centre of town.
Cons: The downside of the location is that it is opposite the academic hospital which means that there is a lot of noise disturbance from the ambulances that arrive all the time.
The hotel is located right next to the Martiniplaza Event & Conference Center. All 157 rooms and suites have air conditioning, a safe, a minibar, a rain shower and free WiFi. With two 16-person conference rooms and its location right next to the highway, the hotel is the ideal place for your meetings. The restaurant and bar provide international cuisine and a range of drinks for you to enjoy.
Pros: The cleaners were very flexible and tried their very best to be accommodating during our stay. 10 out of 10
Cons: The break out area next to the reception were guests could relax by reading was not comfortable. I felt like I was in a train station waiting room. It is a shame as there was a fire but the seating arrangement and the actual seats let this area down. Restaurant menu was expensive €18 burger and the menu was limited in choice and did not change during our stay of 7 days.
Pros: Quiet surroundings. It's near the highway but still quiet.
Cons: Too far outside the city center. It was an eight minute walk from the bus stop. Still the taxi service was excellent.
Pros: Breakfast is great. Rooms are super.
Cons: I had two bookings: one for 2 people 2 nights and other one for a single person for 3 nights. Although I ve noticed them about the fact that Im gonna be alone from the second day, not from the third as the booking have been made, they didnt check it and disactivated my card upon so called check out. I said what check out...as I am not leaving today . I have a booking for another 3 nights.... anyway.. And another thing: they wanted to bill me on my credit card, but I ve told them since we checked in that I want to pay cash. She insisted that get coleague already used my card for billing. I insisted as well that I do not care and I want cash. So she finally billed me as requested.
Pros: Nice comfy bed,the breakfast, tea and coffee in room, and a fridge!
Cons: Not been able to use internet, not helpful @ reception! Not able to use phone, was cut off........no payphones,
Pros: I booked the wrong room and we drove all the way through the mist for two hours to get there, one of the staff members let us stay in one room luckily. Otherwise we had to travel back in the dangerous weather conditions. The best staff and best stay possible!
Pros: Great room, great facilities, friendly personnel
Cons: Not that easy to leave hotel surroundings by car during rush hour.
Best Western Hotel Groningen Plaza is situated at the intersection of the A7 and A28, yet it is in a nature area. The location makes our hotel the ideal basis for business stays, but also for more leisurely visits to the city and the area around Groningen. Parking is free of charge and from Friday to Sundays you can use the shuttle service to the city centre, which is also free of charge. The hotel has 121 rooms, a large number of which have a view of lake Hoornsemeer. The lake is a wonderful place for cycling and walking; the hotel offers bicycle hire and maps of walking routes are available. After a good walk or bike ride you can enjoy the hotel’s pool, leaving you fully refreshed for a special culinary dinner in restaurant Meerwold.
Pros: The building and the view from my room. It took a little while to figure out how to open and close the windows. But having played with them long enough-really cool system.
Cons: The walk from the bus thru the wind and rain. The walk is really nice. It was actually the wind I didn't enjoy.
Pros: Free parking, excellent bed and clean room with hardly any noise from in or outside hotel, 4* breakfast, friendly staff and on top of all a heated swimming poool
When you stay at Hotel Spoorzicht & SPA in Loppersum, you'll be 14 minutes by car from DelfSail. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Stayed at the hotel numerous times & will be back - work permitting
Cons: We choose the hotel to relax for a spa weekend. It was not mention that this is a nudist hotel. We have to walked outside for the indoor pool between the snow then be requested to swim naked! We paid for a room with the access to their luxury spa inside but they dont even inform us where it was. Terrible experience! Not recommended.
Pros: All was perfect. Spa is really nice. I recomend this hotel!!!
Pros: Staff very friendly/ helpful. Food very good
Pros: A good selection
Cons: Bacon & scrambled egg
Pros: Clean and comfy

The Stadsschouwburg theatre is 700 metres away. The Oosterpoort concert hall is 1.4 km on foot. Groningen’s shopping street Herestraat is 450 metres.
Pros: Great location in the heart of the city!
Pros: Charming old building in the city centre. Clean rooms.
Cons: Way too expensive for what it offers. Rooms are freezing cold, tiny and very minimalistic. Heating was off by default both in the room and bathroom. Nothing looks like as in the pictures on booking. Expect to end up in a cold ceiling room with broken window..
Pros: The hotel is a very nice old building located in the city center of Groningen. The rooms are very nice and have a great atmosphere. The staff is nice and knows how to operate an hotel. The rooms are great, but the window frames need some paint.
Cons: Everything was great, only the window frames need some paint.
Pros: The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The location is really good; right in the center and close to coffee places and nice restaurants. The room was spacious although there were no built-in closets. So, you end up opening your bags on the floor. The facilities were quite old (especially the bed and the small wooden closet that I did not use), but I was happy with the room in general.
Cons: My room was quite dark as there was only a very small window. The facilities were minimal for the type of room I had. You can't store food in the room and you can't make a cup of tea/coffee either (no kettle or coffee machine; no fridge). So you have to rely on the hotel's restaurant. I had to open my window to air the room (despite the cold) because of the smell that I think was due to the old wooden structure of the room.
Pros: The room was very beautiful with a lot of space. The bathtube in front of the bed was also special.

Pros: Great location and friendly helpful staff
Cons: Breakfast quite expensive for the choices provided
Pros: It's located in a charming building. The atmosphere is cosy and unpretentious, the staff was friendly. Plus it's very fairly priced.
Cons: Had to walk up three floors through a narrow staircase, with all my luggage. Not a big problem for a fit 20-something, but I can imagine that not everyone would be able to.
Pros: The situation; the welcome; the charm of the hotel, who looks a little bit like a béguinage !
Pros: The central location, the cozy environment, and the lounges.
Cons: Pigeons that wake you up early in the morning. They hide under the roof just above the room's windows.
Pros: Atmosphere of a run-down Parisian hotel combined with modern comfort. Sounds like a paradox, it really isn’t!
Cons: Light sewage smell in the room, easily solved by opening a window
Pros: It was very cozy and sweet. The staff was very nice and friendly, staff was very lovely.
Cons: That I had to pay for parking in there own parking lot.

Pros: The staff was nice, although the ladies who checked me in didn't speak English that well. The bed was ok.
Cons: For the service and the commodities provided, I think it's way too expensive. I've been in hostels with less beds in a dorm and payed half the price, in more touristic cities.
Cons: Wifi signal.is very bad
Pros: All was good. The breakfast was standard all days. I took it 3 times and all other times I bought food in another place.
Cons: The bedlinens were not very clean. No spaces for ersnal things at the common room.

Pros: There were clean towels in the kitchen every day, which I liked, and a nice little kitchen for breakfast and simpler meals. Simple but nice room, and close to the city. Decent bed. Homy feeling.
Cons: I would have preferred a wc with wash basin, but it worked. The breakfast hours were too late for me, but instead I could make my own in the kitchen.
Cons: A lot of dirt under the bed
Cons: Heating was bad, 17 deg only in our room , child´s room was OK.
Pros: It is comfortable, well located, and very private, so you can feel like in your home.
Cons: Even though I know it was clean, the bathroom had a weird smell. The wifi connection failed a lot.
