The owners were really friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. Large comfortable rooms were spotless and some recently modernised, I guess the others will be soon. In a very pretty village with great views and nice gardens and terrace for summer drinks. Unfortunately for family reasons the kitchen was closed the night we stayed, but the owner reserved a table at a nearby restaurant with excellent food. Breakfast the next morning showed us what we misssed by not being able to eat there the previous evening.
Nothing was bad at all. The only problem, as mentioned, was the kitchen was closed but that didn't take away from our stay at all.
We did the Schluchtensteig and this was the last hotel on our trip. It blew the other hotels out of the water. Nicely renovated rooms, sauna with interesting books to peruse between sauna sessions, and AMAZING 3 course dinner for a very fair price. Some of the yummiest food I've eaten in a long while. One of the guests even joked that he wanted to marry the chef. The owners (and, simulatenously, the cooks) were extremely attentive and helpful. They even offered to pick us up and drive us to our next hike! We will definitely be going back.
The couple that owns the place are amazing. Extremely friendly and engaging and they make you feel right at home. I would definitely stay there again.
Wonderful property and owners tucked into the Black Forest. The quality of the food was an unexpected surprise and delight. 4-6course dinners were fit for foodies and were a highlight of our trip to Germany. Definitely worth a detour. Looking forward to returning.
Location is on the only road in town, so traffic noise is apparent, however, this was a minor complaint give how nice everything else was.
Very nice, cozy and welcoming guest-house. Very clean and well maintained, nice rooms, big beds, great view. Owners Roger and Bernadette are extremely nice, friendly and hospitable. They alone are enough of a reason to stay at this place. Very good breakfast, and excellent homemade dinner.
The weather was very hot while we stayed, and the lack of air-conditioning or ventilator was evident, even with opened windows. In-room cooler for the water bottles could also help.
Set in the Black Forest town of Todtmoos, Gersbacher is a 300-year-old hotel, build entirely in wood. It offers traditional rooms, free Wi-Fi, regional cuisine and a free use of public transport. All rooms at the Gersbacher Hof feature Black Forest-style interiors with modern satellite TV and en suite bathrooms. Most have a private balcony, which provides views of the surroundings. A hot buffet breakfast is served daily in the dining hall of the hotel. Selected wines, coffee brews and local homemade cakes are served on the south-facing terrace during the summer months. The Wehra Valley around the Gerbacher Hof hotel offers ideal countryside for hiking and cross-country skiing. The hotel is 50 km from Freiburg, the French city of Mulhouse and the Swiss city of Basel.
