Onsen was nice. Great location to Kamikochi.
Most of the main facility is run down. Carpeted hallway floors are very bad.
Very traditional Japanese hotel. Very friendly staff and a very nice (gender separated) onsen with sauna. Within good travelling distance (by bus) from Kamikochi. Very tasteful Japanese dinner.
Given the surroundings (not quite the 'unspoiled mountain' vibe you would expect) and the comfort of the room (futon beds were quite old and very uncomfortable) we experienced this hotel as being seriously overpriced. Dinner in the hotel is also quite expensive (6400 yen pp.), as is breakfast (japanese only, 1200 yen pp.). We very much liked the 'traditional' feel, but would have booked for only 1 night if we knew the above beforehand.
We were genuinely impressed with this Ryokan.Family run and owned .It feels like a step back in time , however this is the absolute charm of this place. Also the authentic Japanese breakfasts were so delicious and interesting. We would go back again.
No hair dryer in room
Very good service staff. Although it is elderly. Clean and safe place. not so far from takayama or shirakawako.
Does not has convenience store near this area.
With a stay at NAKAMURAKAN in Takayama, you'll be within a 15-minute drive of Kappa Bridge and Hirayu Onsen. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. Free self parking is available onsite.
