I loved there being no TV or phones in the room. Low stress environment.
Our breakfast experience was VERY poor. Our server was incredibly bad. Our poached eggs were solid in the middle. We learned after breakfast that we could have had oatmeal and our server never even gave this as an option.
While the location and property were nice, it definitely has a clinical feel. The property is primarily used as a wellness retreat which conflicts with its billing as a B&B. When we arrived at 5pm, the wellness guests were receiving their dinners, complete with the plastic cloches and post-it notes with their names on them. During our introductory tour, the staff on duty indicated that the meals and juices in the cafe area plus the medical equipment in the yurt were part of the wellness experience, not for the B&B guests. Later, I heard one of the wellness guests telling another guest that the other people staying in the lodge were overnight guests and did not eat there. We did not expect to be served dinner but the dual purpose of the facility definitely created a dichotomy.
The manager on duty. When we arrived, he commented, "Oh good, you're here. Now I can go home." His tour of the property was strange, partly due to the dual-purpose nature of the facility and partly because he did not seem confident in his knowledge of the property. One of the outdoor locks was broken so he told us to walk around to the other side of the building to get in after dinner. Our fireplace did not work and he said he'd work with Maintenance in the morning (after we'd checked out) to fix. If it were not for a poor first impression, we might have been able to look beyond the other eccentricities of the property but we never felt comfortable there and left as soon as we could the next morning, stopping at a cafe down the road for breakfast instead of taking ours in the cafeteria.
It personified the name ‘wellness retreat’ I think it’s perfect
I liked the staff, everyone was nice.
Would have been nice to have had a little extra like some of the picture showed since we were celebrating our anniversary.
Bed could have been a little softier.
