Pros: Nothing more or less. Short walk from main drag. Quiet. Owners were very friendly. Gorgeous quilt on king-size bed appeared hand-made. Overall - a very relaxed comfortable nice stay.
Cons: Price went up a few bucks at last minute because it was Memorial Day weekend, though motel was never close to full. We're used to most motels supplying continental breakfast - coffee only, at this one.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The owners are friendly and care about their guests. The room we stayed in was extremely clean and comfortable.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I've been traveling to Lake Placid for years and have stayed at many of the inns and hotels. I'm so disappointed that I didn't find this place sooner. I will no longer be staying at any other place! Super clean, best bed and bedding I've ever slept in and the owners are fantastic! They do have in room coffee makers and offered me glass wine glasses or water glasses instead of the plastic cups. The view out of the rear rooms of the lake and distant mountains is spectacular.
Cons: Not a thing!

Pros: Very friendly staff, perfect location, walk to everything in lake placid. Beautiful lake and mountain views. Good food, fantastic amenities included.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: View from room was great, dinner at the view restaurant was excellent. Christmas decorations were an added pleasure, the common rooms were beautiful. We will definitely be coming back.
Cons: Had to pay for wi-fi
Excellent 9,4
Pros: In a beautiful setting. Staff aimed to please. Quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Upscale feeling designed to pamper guests.
Cons: Huge complex. Felt like I walked a mile to the entrance from my room.

Pros: Nice even though it’s outdated.
Cons: Very disappointed. Went for a romantic weekend out of town. Would have been nice but there was a hockey tournament in town. I love hockey. I’ve played on many teams and at many tournaments but the kids were out of control. Unattended children parents drinking. This would have been unacceptable when I was on a team. The hotel had no intention of doing anything about it. Asked to have money refunded to go to a different hotel and they wouldn’t even hear us out. This should have been addressed. It went on well into “quiet hours” despite the security trying to control the kids.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Great staff. Liked Great root.
Excellent 9,7
Pros: We liked the location. Close enough to walk into town and not have to drive but not so close that you heard all the hustle and bustle of town. The views are excellent. Rooms and amenities were very good.
Cons: Parking isn't really convenient, especially if you have quite a bit of things to bring to your room. The wifi connection didn't perform very well, may be an issue if you're there for business. The cost versus quality of food onsite was overpriced.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Very clean hotel.
Excellent 9,4
Pros: We liked almost everything about this place. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by very friendly staff who are all extremely welcoming and helpful. The hotel has amazing views and has a great lodge vibe. The pool and hot tub area is great. Beds are very comfortable. Very pet and family friendly. So nice to be able to travel with the whole family!
Cons: The breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing.. it was a nice setting - but the food and options were lackluster. The location is awesome.. however, after a night of eating and drinking in town, it can be rough to walk (or in our case push a stroller) all the way up the hill to the hotel.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Except for the steep climb up to the entrance, this is great hotel.
Excellent 9,4
Pros: Location is the best around Lake Placid (Mirror Lake) area. Value for money is also the best. I stayed one night at another hotel that was almost as twice more expensive as this hotel but this one is way better.
Cons: My room didn't have a desk that is very popular nowadays at many other hotels. Hotel staff (front desk people) members are not very friendly. I felt like it was because I am not a European-American because I saw they were little different toward white people.
Excellent 8,2
Pros: We loved the great room and the view. We did not avail ourselves of the pool, or restaurants so cannot comment. The location in town is great but beware the hill! It is walking distance to town but you have to account for the hill.
Cons: We stayed two nights and the room was not cleaned! I have never had that happen before! We stayed in a very basic room which was above some kind of steam vent. Walking up the hill can be tough at the end of the day but I kind of enjoyed the challenge. It was a little icy since we had a lot of rain instead of snow.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The location can't be beat -- right on a hill at the head of the main street, it has great views of the area, and you can walk to many shops and restaurants. We love room service, and though the menu is fairly standard, the pasta dish we had was unique and delicious. The used the nice, clean gym, and the pool is much bigger than your average hotel pool. The decor throughout seems outdated, but everything is clean and in good condition, so who cares? We are not here to see pretty things inside when there is so much beauty outside! But the best part is that it is dog friendly -- which was not easy to come by in Lake Placid. Though it is not a motel, we did have our own sliding door out to a beautiful, wide lawn, so it was easy to take the dog out for a quick walk or let her relieve herself on the way to the car. They even have a poop bag dispenser and trash can on the edge of the lawn near the hotel exit. (Note: You may not leave the dog unattended in your room, which is an understandable and probably wise policy, though that may be inconvenient in the heat of summer when you cannot leave the dog in your car...)
Excellent 8,0
Pros: we had a very enjoyable stay. received a upgrade to our room at check in which was very nice. a busy weekend with lots of hockey and families all having fun. and snow for a change!
Good 7,7
Pros: The main bar is stunning and very inviting at night. Room was very clean and comfortable and couldn't be faulted. loads of parking and easy walking distance to main street shops/restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: None
Good 7,3
Pros: This was our fourth trip to this hotel and we are always very happy with our choice: clean, great location. attentive service
Cons: the only draw back was the coffee in the restaurant, i would call it color-added water

Good 7,7
Pros: Enjoyed the room by the lake very much. Clean and comfortable.
Cons: No amenities such as coffee in lobby that most hotels offer these days...cookies, etc. For the amount charged I feel that they could offer a courtesy cup/sweet.
Excellent 8,2
Pros: Location, pools, lobby is great....very Adirondack
Cons: No tea in both the room and downstairs in the snack shop. That's just bizarre.....not everyone drinks coffee. Room we had was larger than most but terrible, no view, in corner of the hotel blocked by walk. The hotel wasn't full.....why give, anyone that room?
Good 7,1
Cons: It's good nice bathroom and parti view. Carpets should be updated. Bed pretty comfortable. Room was clean
Good 6,0
Cons: The waitress at the reastraunt attached to hotel.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Right from the get go the staff is always wonderful - at check in, Eric was wonderful in getting us set up with a room change in the lakefront area with no hassles. The hotel has a wonderful method of sending text messages to check in with you to see how your stay is going and if you need anything. Upon getting to our room after check in, we got our first text asking if anything was needed...we mentioned two lights happened to be out in our room and immediately they offered to send someone...we said it was no rush but within minutes maintenance knocked on our door and addressed the issue. The hotel is a wonderful place and the amenities of being lakefront with the kayaks, paddleboats, SUP boards, etc are so worth it if you have kids. In the last 5 years we have not stayed anywhere else other than house rentals for ironman week. Love High Peaks.
Good 7,7
Pros: spacious clean room
Cons: late 4pm check in
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Shower was nice. Everything was clean. Great view.
Cons: Hot tub was not very hot
Good 6,5
Pros: Lake front. And mountains
Cons: Tooooo many barking dogs left alone in room
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We had a superior view King room which had a great view of the lake and was convenient to parking. Room was clean and renovated. Easy walk to Main Street. Balcony to relax on in morning and evening. Access to Lake and kayaks.
Cons: It was perfect!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Beautiful view of the lake, and Whiteface mountain. The room was spacious, and comfortable, as was the bathroom. Staff couldn't have been more friendly.
Cons: We ordered room service (breakfast), and it was just o.k. Service was prompt and friendly but the food was just o.k. We went to BC (breakfast club) down the road the 2nd morning, and that was excellent.
Excellent 10,0
Cons: The Dancing Bear restaurant was very over priced for the quality of the food. The outdoor heater was not working and it was a very cool night. When the waitress was seating us, we should have been advised that the heaters were not working. We visit Lake Placid often and will not return to this restaurant.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Liked everything except the hot tub.
Cons: Hot "soaking" tub was disappointment - we were all most looking forward to enjoying a real jacuzzi tub - this was luke warm and no bubbles. The lights in tub and pool did not work either.

Pros: Clean and reasonable price.
Cons: It was near the road so it was a little noisy. The room could use an update. No coffee in the room.
Excellent 9,7
Pros: The room was not elegant, but it was quaint and very clean. I was not expecting the balcony that overlooked the pool, so that was a nice bonus. Although it was not promoted, there were hot beverages and donuts for breakfast. The owner was extremely nice and friendly. I would stay there again.

Okay 5,7
Pros: - great location, right on Main St. - nice view (we could see the lake from the room we had) - comfortable beds
Cons: - not very clean... Overall the room was just not very clean. A couple stains on the sheets. The rug had areas that looked like stuff was stuck to it. Piles of crumbs in multiple areas. There was hair in the sink and shower and they left a used towel hanging behind the bathroom door when we were first checked in I guess left there by the previous guest. Gross!! -poor service... The front desk staff were fine. However, we left our room for the day at about 900 am and hung the door hanger to please make up our room. We came back at 230pm to a room that hadn't been touched. No new coffees or towels. Didn't empty the garbage, etc. When we left the maids were just down the hall. - the packets left for the coffee with the sugar, creamer, etc had already been opened by the previous guest and not replaced. - not that we has an issue, but i can ser how being on a lower floor could get loud with the restaurant/bar underneath the hotel
Good 6,2
Pros: Staff is very friendly.
Cons: Insufficient parking for the number of rooms being rented. More than likely you'll need to park in the public lot... But it's close by.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Wonderful staff, clean hotel, stunning views, and situated in the middle of everything. We were able to leave the car and walk to a host of stores, restaurants, movie theater, views, history, etc.
Good 6,5
Pros: The location on Main Street is unbeatable. The parking lot behind the hotel is convenient - if you get there early enough to get your spot. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful.
Cons: The hotel desperately needs updating. Everything is old. The AC is ancient and super loud, does not automatically regulate. The housekeeping staff start banging on doors around 8:30 am - when you’re on vacation and trying to have a slower morning or still sleeping. No breakfast provided. Parking is an issue when the hotel is busy.
Good 6,5
Pros: The foam beds were much needed after a long 5 hrs of hike. The sheets were clean and the room quaint for a group of 7 in a two full bed room.
Mediocre 3,6
Pros: Was chosen because of cheap price but I would never stay again. It wasnt even worth it for cheaper price.
Cons: Staff was unprofessional and rude. When arriving late at 2am they were in the back counting money chatting and came out for a minute and went back talking and laughing while myself and 3 others waited for service. She had no information about parking. said she was only around at night and didnt know anything about day time. Wouldnt let us know about late check out. said we had to call desk after 7am to find out. Parking lot was dangerous and over full so we had to go down the road to park and pay in the morning. Hotel was not clean and very old broken down looking.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Great location, comfortable beds
Cons: Parking is an issue, the Rooms are noisy. I could hear our neighbors TV all night
Excellent 9,6
Pros: We really liked the value and location of the hotel. The mattresses are very comfortable!
Cons: Our room (lake view king suite) didn't have a refrigerator - which prevented us from bringing home any leftovers from the delicious dining that Lake Placid has to offer.
Excellent 8,2
Pros: the lake view room was no joke. great view of mirror lake, extremely comfortable suite.
Cons: As other reviewers mentioned, it's a little noisy. Walls are thin, and being right on Main Street - there is some noise from the bars and traffic on the street. They provide earplugs - hilarious - but unless you're a very light sleeper, the noise is minimal.
Good 6,2
Pros: Big room. Comfortable bed.
Cons: Worst view you could ask for of boarded up windows of a half vacant building
Good 6,2
Pros: Comfy bed, location.
Cons: Everything else.
Excellent 8,6
Pros: Nice place, well worth the money. Can use updating but than again it has the rustic look that Lake Placid is known for
Cons: Lack of Parking

Excellent 9,7
Pros: Family owned quaint inn. Clean and neat that's close to Main Street .
Cons: No mini fridge or microwave, so if you have special dietary needs you may want to consider.
Good 6,2
Pros: Very friendly hosts. Amazing location! Historic feel and great decor, too. Fresh coffee every morning.
Cons: The place definitely needs a little investment in amenities (kettles and fridges in rooms would be nice). Bathrooms need some plumbing work, and the hotel bathroom has all sorts of critters, probably low staffed right now. Some work on ventilation to remove in-room musty smell might go a long way for this historic place.
Excellent 9,1
Pros: Owners Jill and Frank were excellent and always helpful. Nice to see an old fashioned quiet decent affordable family run hotel
Cons: No elevator No breakfast available on site
Excellent 8,6
Pros: The Pines Inn is a cozy place to stay! It's right around the bend on the top of the hill on Main Street, so you're never too far away from the restaurants/bars/gift shops. The staff is friendly and we had no trouble getting to our room. Overall, a good place to stay!
Cons: As triathletes, we would have loved a mini fridge in our room. But other than that, no complaints!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The staff is amazing and super friendly! Very easy to work with!!
Cons: Everything was great! One little thing, if you rely on hotel shampoo and conditioner, it is an all in one that they have so plan accordingly!
Good 7,7
Pros: Nice old hotel. Rooms are small but cozy. Some facilities need updating. Staff was very friendly and helpful. On premise restaurant was great. Overall a nice place to stay, a good value for Lake Placid, which can tend to be pricey especially in season.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Owners efforts to create "lodge" environment - friendly and helpful during our stay!
Cons: Noisy - floor above room we were in
Excellent 8,8
Pros: Staff could not have been more accommodating. Jill and Frank are keeping alive a piece of history and Classic elegance Reminds you of staying at Grandma's House

Pros: Breakfast and the pool are great for kids.
Cons: House keeping lost my daughters night gown.

Pros: Me encanto todo
Excellent 8,2
Pros: I have a 5 yr and 5 month old child; we had a blast on just an overnight stay! The pool and jacuzzi were awesome, we loved our rooms location and the little patio overlooking the mountains! Fridge and microwave in room were helpful and the breakfast was the best continental breakfast I've had! Our stay was excellent and my son will be talking about it for weeks to come!
Cons: Getting our stuff in and out of the entrance near our room was difficult for me being a single mother. There was no ramp and doors were no stroller friendly.
Excellent 8,5
Pros: Activities such as swimming, boating, grilling ect included. Great value, close to trolley stop for downtown, close to food options, super friendly staff
Cons: Walls are thin and you can hear the neighbors, breakfast was included but really not that great, stairs everywhere, so not mobility friendly

Pros: The location is the only redeeming quality.
Cons: The room was in poor shape with many things broken including the heat. We were kept up all night by drunk guests, after calling the desk with no results, we finally had to call the police due to the noise.
Good 7,6
Pros: A good no frills motel room. Fairly close to Main St Lake Placid.
Cons: Curtains were thin, so parking lot lights from neighboring bank shined into the room all night.
Okay 5,4
Pros: Good location, price. BAD:the door had a gap around it, temp was very cold , room was very cold slept in 2 layers put coats around door to block cold out, old electric heaters couldn't get heat temp up ,ice on inside windows in am
Cons: Room was very cold, panels around shower were loose and pulling away , we stayed on 2nd floor snow on stair could be dangerous to older people Would be OK in all seasons but winter would not stay here again in the winter probably would stay in other seasons need to fix door

Pros: Our room was large with plenty of space for everyone's stuff. The refrigerator and microwave were nice to have. We didn't use the game room or sitting area downstairs but they were nice looking. Coffee and pastries in the morning were good too. Location was good for walking downtown. There were two HVAC units in the wall, so the room warmed up quickly.
Cons: There should be small table and chairs in a room this big. The pool and pool area were chilly with a strange layout. There was a headband that didn't belong to us under the nightstand. Also there was a strange looking stain or spot on the rug under the first bed by the door. One pillow was so lumpy. The bath area is lacking space overall... The tub and toilet room are so small you can hardly sit down and close the door. There is also no storage beyond the sink top. I had read that things were dated and I definitely agree, the rugs have seems showing their age. There's not a lot of value expressed though the bed covering or floor covering. I think I expected a little nicer for the money that we paid but I think we really paid for location not amenities.
Mediocre 2,0
Cons: My wife was gathering her clothes and found someone else's dirty underwear and shirt under the bed. She was also bitten numerous times by something during the night.
Excellent 8,5
Pros: The hotel is very nice, clean, quiet in a great location within walking distance of the shops in Lake Placid.
Cons: The decor is a little dated, as are the rooms.
Excellent 8,8
Cons: Bolt lock on door didn't work, which was unnerving. It had clearly been not working for awhile, based on damage done to door jamb from trying to shut the door all the way.
Okay 4,8
Cons: Rooms were dirty, beds/pillows were awful
Mediocre 2,8
Pros: The staff was friendly. When we asked to cancel they asked why but did not give us a hard time. They did apologize for the inconvenience.
Cons: When we went to check in the room was not ready (which was okay since we were an hour early). We asked if we could use the pool while we waited and they said yes. When we got to the pool area we found out all the pictures lied. The hot tub was gone and the room for the pool was cold. When we felt the pool water it was like ice. Not only was the water like ice it appeared to be cloudy and dirty. At this point my 3 yeare old was in tears because he expected to go swimming and we said he could not get in. We then went back to the office and asked to cancel our reservation. We went to another hotel in town and stayed there.
Good 7,4
Pros: I go to lake placid to hike and for the restaurants. So a bed need be no more than a bed. In this respect, Thd Summit is perfect. Great location, very affordable, perfectly adequate. I will stay there over and over again.
Cons: The 'breakfast' and 'beachfront' are nonexistent.
Excellent 8,5
Pros: Location, restaurants, comfortable beds, clean sheets, friendly staff.
Cons: Room seemed a bit old and beat-up.
Good 6,0
Pros: The queen room was a bit on the small side. The microwave and coffemaker (and small fridge below) consumed much of the desk, making it otherwise unusable. The hotel only provides some pre-packaged pastries and coffee, rather than a real continental breakfast (which is more expected now from even inexpensive chain hotels, much less a "resort" hotel). Rooms and furnishings were dated and worn. The hotel lounge was uncomfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hot water temperature was abnormally hot - scalding actually. Surprised if this even meets building code. The hotel is very convenient to the downtown commercial strip. I've got a number of itchy bites - did not see evidence of bedbugs - could have been the tiny black flies atop Cascade Mountain (just not sure...)
Good 6,0
Pros: Our room was large, shower head new and worked wonderfully, and location is great! Maintenance and housekeeping were great trying to make us happy. They did offer to move us if the heat wasn't ok, but we already had all of our things unpacked, so chose to stay.
Cons: 2 heaters in the room - 1 did not work at all, and 1 worked on high only 1st night. They did send someone to work on them and gave us a space heater to use - never did work properly. Had to bring a heavy duty extension cord with an extra plug as there are very few outlets. We had to unplug the coffee maker and microwave to plug in chargers and unplug the clock radio to plug in sleep machine. Very outdated bathroom - toilet had to be worked on also. Pastries in morning - packaged and cardboard flavored. So much for free breakfast as advertised. Management was yelling at staff in the lobby in the morning - had to wait for her to stop before I could complain about the heat. Driveway and parking lot and steps very slushy - could have been cleaned out. will not be staying there again.
Okay 5,4
Pros: Location was awesome.
Cons: Inside was gloomy and could use updating, AC was noisy. Continental breakfast was packaged pastries. Parking was crowded and difficult.
Good 6,5
Pros: The location was nice. Easily accessible to everything in town. The staff was decent - not overly friendly, but helpful when we needed it. Free Wi-Fi.
Cons: Everything in the hotel was very dated. If the elevator had stopped working while we were in it, I wouldn't have been surprised. You could tell the carpet and paint hadn't been updated in a long time, however they say online they are in the process of renovating. We asked for extra pillows one night and they brought us pillows, but no pillowcases. We had to ask to get those too. The shower would go from hot to cold to hot to cold several times for no apparent reason. The breakfast consisted of poptarts and honey buns. This could have definitely been improved, although I don't think they advertise having a breakfast at all, so this was still better than nothing.
Good 7,0
Pros: swimming hot tub
Okay 4,0
Pros: Location, Rate and cordial attendants
Cons: Room not clean and we han to ask for towels and toilet paper. Room not cleaned or serviced the 2nd day. Never had this problem before and we have stayed at the Summit at least two visits a year.
Good 6,7
Pros: The Summit Hotel was much nicer then I expected. The reviews were pretty bad, but it was a great location and the rooms were very big. There were a few things I didn't like, the jacuzzi didn't work and there was mold in the shower, but all and all we had a great time. I would go back again.
Cons: Moldy shower, jacuzzi didn't work, scribbles on walls.
Good 6,7
Pros: The location is wonderful as it's conviently located, the staff was very nice and helpful and the price was very affordable as I booked it off line and got a great rate.
Cons: Everything seemed old, the phone in my room only half worked as people could hear me but we couldn't hear them. The refrigerators in both our room and that of another person in our party froze everything and the bathrooms are extremely small.
Okay 4,3
Pros: It was convenient
Cons: Hotel is run down. Beds are old. It needs a sprucing up. Upon checking in we found our rooms both toilets to be soiled with fecal matter. To the staff's credit once I informed them they cleaned them immediately. Free continental breakfast was very basic. Restaurant that was advertised was closed. No bar available
Mediocre 3,7
Pros: location
Cons: hotel in serious need of renovations
