The room is a little on the small side. But very nicely kept the complimentary breakfast was very good. The hotel was spotless and very clean. The only issue we had was the toilet did not flush properly and we had to fill up a bucket of water every time we used it.

Beautiful hotel with perfect mix of old and new. Great old floors, woodwork, antiques, hardware, marble, etc. Brand new shiny bathrooms, AC.. spacious rooms. Staff was friendly and competent. Great central location with lots of shopping, restaurants and sightseeing, but quiet in the hotel with a central garden courtyard. Highly recommend.

Pros (+) The cleanliness was not top priority they only made beds they did not clear cups for days or replace toilet paper. The Defoe at night reminds me of the shining as well. The breakfast set up was ok but when ordering room service as the walk is so far the staff is rude

Pros (+) An old hotel that has echoes of "The Grand Budapest Hotel", a faded palace where Verdi once stayed. Steps from Termini station and the A Metro at Republicà, it is an excellent jumping off point for your Roman stay. The staff is extremely friendly.
Cons (-) The included breakfast is forgettable, though the garden in which it is served is not. Skip it for a cappuccino and corneto at one of Rome's countless Caffè.
