No car ready, pornography type film playing in office. Car brought around after 45 mins waiting and it was full of garbage bags so had to wait a further 30mins Lady on desk very nice but really frustrated at guys dealing with cars. Also washing cars only last minute when customers are waiting is not good, we were an hour late to pick up vehicle and then it took 2 hours!! Disgraceful organisation

They didn’t have any cars to give us, and their “system was down”. The only redeeming thing was that the location refunded me several days later after I called to cancel. But even that wasn’t a sure thing for several days.

Pick-up and drop-off was a fairly simple process.

Cons:

When we received our car, the tire pressure light was on. We connected with an employee who filled the tires with air. When finished, the light was still on, but the employee said that "it's because the tires need some time to warm up" (it had snowed two days in a row previously). We had a car for a total of three days and two nights. The tire pressure light never turned off. I wish the employee had taken more care to look into the issue and/or escalate the matter so that we could receive a new car.

When I turned the car in, they later hit me with a smoking fee , a cleaning fee and a concession recovery fee totaling $913 . I don’t smoke and the car was clean and turned in on time . Horrible

The Jeep Cherokee I reserved was not available. They upgraded me, at no charge, to a Seauoia. It is a monster of Vehicle. It cost me a lot of extra money for gas and not the easiest vehicle to drive.

LGA did not provide signage to SIXT shuttle. Shuttle driver did not help us with our bags at SIXT Rental Office. No signage at Rental Office to explain which end of the rope is the front of the line. I was standing at the other end of the rope and two clerks ignored me. The third clerk asked me if I was picking up a car. When I said yes, she told me that I was at the wrong end of rope. My clerk was a very nice lady, but when she left the desk to go get the car, she left my ID and credit card on the desk, unsecured. I received a car that had a cigarette stench in it. I won't be back. Next time, I'll go back to Enterprise/National. I'll spend a little more to get good service and a clean car.

Clarity that manager choice included electric cars would have been nice. I was trying to be helpful, but I couldn’t guarantee I could return an electric car charged, so I avoided the electric managers choice option, but they still tried to give me one. I had to pay more to get a non-electric car, when I could’ve paid the same if I had just picked a specific gas car originally. Also the return was really weird. Someone without any hertz clothing or ID tried to have me give him the keys in White Plains.

There was no clear information. I was charged something pretty different from what I reserved. The car nearly broke down. The car was almost empty when I left and I had to ask the person checking me out about it. I am never renting from budget and/or this location ever again.

Rental was pretty seamless. Agent in NY was super helpful, wish I remembered her name. Only complaint would be not informing customer that they’re reserving an electric vehicle. I didn’t find that out until getting to Dollar. A change can be made for a fee though and if a regular vehicle is available.

The day that I arrived there was a shortage of cars at Thrifty, which caused a significant delay for everyone getting their rentals. This was due to an earlier weeks earthquake in New York. Although this was dissapointing as I could not leave for my destination until I received my car, but I have to applaud Thrify employees for keeping good attitude and taking the time to explain to everyone why there is a delay, and that they are doing everything they can to get us out of there. I appreciated the feeling informed attitude. And everyone in line was super kind and positive

The people were friendly and helpful but they do try to upsell (eg electronic toll pass, extra insurance coverage). When driving to exit or enter the vehicle storage area, there isn't much room to maneuver and there are some tight turns.

At the time of car pick up, it looked like a bird egg fell out of a nest and was stuck to the top of the car roof. Scraping it off the car (with a partially formed bird inside) was not pleasant.

Cons:

Car smelled like cigarettes, i prepaid online and then was charged extra at pickup, more than doubling the rental cost. " Mandatory liability insurance, concession fees that weren't mentioned online and $44 for a toll pass which I chose to add). None of which were mentioned online when reserving and paying "In Full". My $125 car rental turned into $300. Felt like a bait and switch. Dishonest advertising. Once i was there for pickup, i needed the car and had no choice but to pay what they were asking.

I was overcharged approximately $370 for the insurance because it didn't specify that it would be 3 times the amount when not purchasing online Windows weren't clean, windshield wipers were old and could barely see when it rained at night. The car was obviously in a major accident as it looked like it was painted with spray cans Plus it had 59,500 miles on it Horrible car and company I have never given such a bad review on a company like this one in my life

Great value for the price. Staff assures that you are getting the best value and were very kind. The car was in great condition. The only thing I would improve is more staff for times with more pick up and drop off. Other renters were very impatient and unkind to staff who were working very efficiently. There were no clear locations to park cars being dropped off which created more work for the staff. Otherwise, excellent.
