The hotel location was great- right on the water, you could see it across the bay when you got off the ferry. However, you need to have a car or scooter; otherwise you need to take a cab back and forth from the hotel to Portoferraio. The hotel was very nice- staff was helpful, pool and grounds were great. Breakfast was excellent for an Italian hotel.
One thing we (young American couple) noticed was most of the guests were older German people on vacation. It wasn't a big problem, and perhaps it was because we were there mid-week, but we didn't see any other young couples the entire time we were there. Aside from that (and that is a minor complaint at best), we had a nice stay and couldn't have asked for much more, particularly for the price.
