The room was nice and the property is a lot of fun
We went to the restaurant and it took 2 hours to get our food. When we finally got it it was cold and not tasty at all. Really disappointed
The atmosphere is really fun. Our bed was comfy, our room was quiet & newly outfitted; we loved the soaking pool on a drizzly evening, and our blackberry cider from the restaurant was fabulous. There is a nice high end grocery store for breakfast food a block or two away (restaurant on site looks great, but a bit pricey). The hotel is in the suburbs outside Portland - 20 to 30 min. drive to downtown, which worked for us.
Front desk staff was more interested in talking to each other than providing customer service. We arrived 10 min. before check-in on a slow Tuesday and were told no room was ready. Girl at the desk took our phone number and offered to call when room was ready. We didn’t want to make the trek into downtown and be called back, so we browsed the gift shop and decided to get a drink at the restaurant to kill time while waiting. Our drink was wonderful and the server was nice if a bit slow. After over an hour waiting with no call back we were about to give up and go into downtown without checking in, but stopped at the front desk on our way to the car. The desk staff were chatting away and the girl looked guilty when she saw us, then lied, claiming she called, but my voicemail was full. Of course, as soon as we had our room key I had my partner call my voicemail to ensure it was working properly and it was. I’m sure she forgot to call because she didn’t really care and was busy chatting, but a simple I’m sorry goes over much better than an untruthful excuse which is totally easy to uncover.
A bit pricey
Gardens are fabulous. The funky decor and original artwork are big fun.
Jamaican bowl dinner was excellent. Courtyard dining was pleasant as was soaking pool. My room #123 was very quiet.
Ate breakfast and dinner 2 days at the hotel. Service was very slow. Salmon first night was dry. 2nd morning waited almost ten minutes for menu. No English Breakfast (plain black) tea available.
