Overview

Port Clinton sits on the Lake Erie shore in northern Ohio, a harbor town that calls itself the walleye capital and a jumping-off point for the lake's islands. The Best Western Port Clinton makes a comfortable base in Port Clinton, Ohio, close to the island ferries, the lakefront beaches, the marinas, and the parks along the Marblehead peninsula. Ferries to Put-in-Bay and Kelleys Island leave from the harbor nearby, an easy launch into the Lake Erie islands. A free breakfast opens the morning, the rooms hold a flat-screen TV, microwave, and refrigerator, and the pool waits after a day on the water. Put-in-Bay, a short ferry ride out on South Bass Island, mixes a stone tower monument with a lively waterfront. Marblehead Lighthouse, among the oldest in continuous use on the Great Lakes, stands out on the peninsula nearby. Islands and beaches, charter fishing, and the lakeshore parks all sit close by. Settle in and let Lake Erie set the pace.
