City was dirty
Great location to be able to walk to most places of interest …..No Breakfast was included
No problems at all
I am glad I got the upgraded king room because it was larger than the standard room, and it was still very small. I wish there was a bathroom vanity rather than 2 small shelves next to the sink.
To start with the only negative: we were "walked" because the hotel was overbooked, but that isn't the problem, since I completely understand that a few overbooks on a busy night is unfortunately the nature of the beast in the hotel industry. We arrived at the airport at midnight and I called to advise the hotel about our late check-in. I was not notified then, nor in the next two hours that it took to get there that there was any problem. Upon arrival after 2AM, we were met at the door by a clerk with papers who explained that the Drury would accommodate us for the first night. From then on, we were treated like royalty at both hotels with upgraded rooms and better-than-expected compensation for our troubles. Both rooms were spotless, sparkling and bug-free (I checked closely, and have to mention that only because of so many scary reviews out there when I booked this trip!). Room 512 at the Royal St Charles is highly recommended. It is a spotless and sparkling, bug-free junior-king suite corner room, with floor to ceiling windows facing offices and a parking garage on one side, and overlooking the street with a view of other downtown buildings on the other. Speaking of the view, the windows made it more than a little inviting for us to put on a show, so that happened... Sorry if you have to sort through the reviews to separate the good from the bad (even some November reviews for standard rooms sound like they had some valid complaints), but room 512 and the treatment we received were just stellar. Great room, great staff, great location a block from Canal St., close to Acme Oyster House, easy walk to the Riverfront Streetcar to get to everything else worth getting to...just a great trip!
Property was clean. Staff was very helpful.
Extra charge covers ‘free’ WiFi and two beers or hurricanes. Hurricane machine was broken
Royal St Charles French Quarter Downtown is located right in the very heart of the Big Easy. If visitors wish to come and get an authentic New Orleans experience, staying at the Royal St. Charles is a great place to start. The hotel offers authentic New Orleans flair and comfortable rooms for escaping from the hectic craziness of the city.
Royal St Charles French Quarter offers visitors a collection of suites along with three different kinds of guest rooms. The majority of the rooms are standard interior rooms, however, if guests want a little something extra they can try the Superior with extra floor space or the Balcony Kings, which overlook the famed Mardi Gras parade route. During Mardi Gras, these are some of the most highly sought after rooms anywhere. Regardless of which rooms guests choose, the hotel provides many different amenities for their comfort, including a 41' flat screen HDTV, ergonomic work desk and office chair, coffee maker with special New Orleans Roast coffee, and NEST® bath products.
Guests staying at Royal St. Charles French Quarter are right across the street from the most popular place in New Orleans - The French Quarter. This is where some of New Orleans' most famous restaurants and bars are, including Pat O'Brien's, Cafe du Monde, and the Court of Two Sisters. Guests could spend their entire time in New Orleans just eating and drinking, however, there is plenty to here besides that. The New Orleans zoo is fantastic and at night guests can take a ghost tour by foot around some of the city's most haunted places.
