The antique furniture in the room and breakfast area. The town of Montagu is always lovely.
Child safety hazards: the cot provided for our infant was broken and my child sustained a facial injury from that. Dog faeces on lawn, including in the children's play area. Structures with sharp nails sticking out in children's play area and next to pool. Unsafe sharp objects placed around structures in children's play area. Corrugated metal sheets, wires and broken children's toys with sharp edges lying around property. Extremely steep stairs right outside room. The dogs were all over us all the time and were a big nuisance. They were at our breakfast table, we saw them in the kitchen while breakfast was being prepared, they were lying on the outside furniture meant for guests, the one dog reeked and kept rubbing up against us, we struggled to keep them out of our room, etc. We brought the dog issue up with the owners and staff members. On the last morning the owner brought a water spray bottle to our breakfast table to fend off the dog. Not what we planned for breakfast! Our room was not private as it was right at the entrance of the guest house and our door opened up to the walkway from the parking area. The shower head in the bathroom was very low. Room in need of an aircon, could not leave door and windows open due to privacy and security concerns. We really looked forward to our stay, but were hugely disappointed and dismayed. We expressed our dismay about the broken cot to the lady at reception, but had no response from the owners.
Utterly charming place, with lots of personality. The owners and staff were very welcoming and attentive. I loved the options for walking into town from the property and also being able to directly access hiking trails. Breakfast with products straight from the farm was delicious. I was delighted when the dogs from the property joined me on a sunrise walk!
This is a comfortable place, but it's not and doesn't pretend to be swish. I loved the vibe, but those looking for an immaculate 5 star experience should probably look elsewhere.
Very modern interieur. Lots of space. Coffie available.
Rooms could do with some refurbishment/extra care.
Very friendly and helpful hosts and personnel, absolutely great place to stay at, particularly with children Very tasteful and stylish accomodation Excellent breakfast
