No cooked breakfast. Air con not working
Location was excellent. Less than five minute walk from Gloucester Road tube station. Room spacious and quiet location with large windows an fresh air.
Well... breakfast was a disaster! No staff. Tables vacant and not cleared. No food. Basic food not topped up. A Sainsbury’s grocery order arrived in the middle of the breakfast time which was wheeled through the breakfast room. Half an hour it took to get tea and toast... but not cups, butter and still a dirty table from last guests. No pastries. No cold water. The list goes on! Extras were offered but no offer of menus about what the menu included. While I sat there I googled the Food Safety Agency report on the hotel. It is rated 0. https://ratings.food.gov.uk/business/en-GB/334916/Cranley-Hotel-Kensington-and-Chelsea This inspection took place in January 2019 and clearly no action taken. Decided to check out early and get breakfast elsewhere! Trip hazards everywhere with large carpets.
I was upgraded from a classic single to a suite - I’d asked for a quiet room to work and they came up trumps there. It’s faded steins the edges and far too hot but glorious room with lounge and balcony. Felt so spoilt.
Far too hot under the eaves. Room air con broken and the standalone unit clearly had been there a while and far from cooling down the room have off so much heat it had the effect of a radiator, unfortunate when it was so hot
The hotel asks for a credit card number as a deposit when you arrive. They then took £50 out of my account “as a deposit”, even though it was only supposed to be a pending pre-authorisation, not an actual debit. A week later they have still not refunded the money, despite nothing being wrong with the room. I have chased the accounts department 4 times and each time I am told “not yet not yet”. They’ve basically taken my money and won’t return it. Will never stay here again. Beware.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating.
The property needs a little upkeep, but for the price I cannot complain
