We had a wonderful stay at Hostel Rupublica; the property has historical significance and is broken into 3 seperate 'Patio's'. The first offers more traditional/simple accomodation and decor with shared bathrooms and access to all the common areas; or you can choose to upgrade (as we did) to the new build rooms in Patio 2; which include private bathrooms and modern decor and aesthetic. I particularly liked having options for various travellers budgets and trips. The breakfast is simple but a great start to the day all overseen by the lovely Flora. The staff were all lovely; and spoke perfect English if your Spanish isn't the best. I thank Dulna and her team for having us stay for 5 nights.
"It was great to be honest. We don't have any complaints. Everyone was nice" when asking my partner what we didn't like.
The most helful and nice staff I have ever met in any hotel/hostel. Nicely designed rooms, great location. Very safe and cozy place with nice silent patios. Perfect place for both- for rest and to visit La Paz!
Breakfast was poor ☹️
I was given a room that I assume was newly-renovated. It was much nicer than what I had expected. The facilities were beautiful, the showers were really hot and the internet was very decent.
Prior to my arrival, the hotel had confirmed that they would store my luggage until check-in since I was to arrive early (and I was not willing to pay for half a night’s stay to have the room early). When I arrived, I was told that my room was ready and that I could have it early. I said I would only take it if I didn’t have to pay extra. Otherwise I was ok with waiting a few hours. The man at reception reacted by just taking me to the room. That should have been a sign but at the time, I was naive and assumed it was just a nice surpris. During the following three days, three more staff members confirmed that their colleague had made a mistake, but still tried to get me to pay extra for that day. It started to make me really angry. The staff was nice, but either really disorganized or trying to get more money out of me (or both). Every one of them eventually agreed I shouldn’t have to pay, but none made a note of it on my file. I started anticipating having to plead my case every time I walked into te reception, which affected how ai felt about the place. On my final day, I paid for an extra night even though I wasn’t going to sleep there. I wanted to rest before my 2am flight. I was so over arguing that I didn’t even bother bringing this point up: How is it that arriving early would have cost me half a night’s stay but staying late wound up costing a full night’s stay? Be aware you might have to plead your case.
The location, the inner patios and the staff.
they're remodeling the hostal, our room was one of those that weren't. Anyway, the room was very nice but a in the need for the same work as the room in which some other friends stayed.
Heated room. Lovely comfortable bed. Historic building. Great location.
The room had been renovated very recently but did not have an extractor fan fitted yet.
