Pros: Everything was wonderful.
Cons: Fewer stairs.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: The views and the location is excellent. Most rooms have full ocean view and some partial. Excellent staff - knowledgable, helpful and friendly. Very easy walk to downtown and to Playa la Ropa beach area. we went fishing organized thru hotel tour guide very affordable and fun experience.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We have been coming to Zihaut for years. This is the hotel that checks all the boxes. On the beach, great pool, bar, restaurant, walkable to the city center and all the perfect touches of Mexican graciousness. The staff were incredible. Likey the best hotel in Zihaut.
Cons: Cant think of anything we didn’t like.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Fabulous location and gracious and accommodating staff!
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Its a beautiful property and the staff is excellent. Great positive response to requests and they go the extra mile. The rooms and the views were exceptional. Oh and their restaurant supper!
Cons: There are a lot of stairs if your room is high on the hill.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Wonderful, friendly and helpful service from everyone there: especially Carlos, Martin, Jesus and Miguel. If your Spanish isn't great (mine certainly isn't), that is not a problem; their English is very good. The hotel is a little bit of heaven: only 30 rooms but with a good restaurant, bar with a great view over the bay, lush landscaping, lovely pool (with wait staff) plus the hotel is right on the beach. There's even a spa for massages, mani pedi etc. If you like excellent service in a small hotel with unbelievable value in an authentic Mexican fishing town (warts and all) that has lots of very good restaurants (from basic, inexpensive Mexican to fancy expensive international) this is the spot for you. If you want a huge, flashy, sterile hotel with lots of nightlife, multiple pools and lots of people eating and drinking all they can, then please go to Cancun.
Cons: No complaints, but If I had to pick something it would be the spotty wifi. That being said, I went to relax not to surf the Internet or spend time on facebook
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Location and amenities!
Cons: Liked everything !

Pros: A lovely little boutique hotel right in the heart of the old area near the beach. Staff was friendly. Place was clean. Comfy beds. Close to cabs. All in all a really nice stay.
Cons: Nothing really. We’d stay there again, as is.
Excellent 10,0

Excellent 10,0
Pros: Great location, very clean spacious and open room. I really enjoyed that. Great balcony ask for room 6 it was great!
Cons: Nothing I didn’t like! Everything was great
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Pool area, housekeeping, cleanliness, kitchen facilities and the villa mercedes is a nice size. The location is excellent for walking everywhere you want to go. Also location is reason its noisy.
Cons: The hotel is placed on the corner of 2 main thoroughfares. Very loud commercial trucks and motorcycles. Conversations could be easily overheard on the sidewalk. Maybe a different room would have been quieter.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Price can't be beat. Close to our 4 favorite restaurants. Short walk to beach, bank, central market.
Cons: Not on the beach, no beach view. Linens need upgrade.

Pros: View location cleanliness service food made fresh to order
Cons: Need to take taxi everywhere unless you are fit in able to walk in negotiate steep steps up and down
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Lovely setting, great service. We were able to hang by the pool while waiting for our room since our flight came in the morning. Service got our breakfast delivered from nearby restaurant.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The place was beautiful and we had a beautiful view. During the day or the evening - it was amazing. Our room was so spacious and the staff was very very attentive. To have such a great view meant it was a climb to the top or taxi rides. It just requires a little planning since the road and the town are not really accessible by foot. We highly recommend.

Pros: fantastic gourmet breakfast..... different every day nice surprise
Cons: a little out of my reach financially but well worth the extra

Poor 1,0
Pros: Location was good
Cons: Dad was like a rock. No bottled water in the room. Weak air conditioning left the room hot. No attendee at the front desk at 8:15 a.m. to resolve problems.
Good 7,0
Pros: The pool and the very kind folks working there.
Cons: The mattress was too hard for me and they wouldn’t give me any extras pillows.
Excellent 8,8
Pros: Hotel JB is not the Ritz and does not pretend to be - Hotel JB is a basic hotel - within easy walking distance to Playa La Ropa. The room was comfortable, the pool clean and relaxing, the surroundings safe and secure, a mix of good patrons and excellent staff.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I love it's so close to La Ropa beach where I spend my days. I love the refreshing pool, the friendly family ownership, it's safe, comfortable, affordable and a perfect place for me to transition when I arrive in Mexico and before I leave. I've stayed here several times and will return. Everyone at the hotel is super welcoming and kind.
Good 7,0
Pros: Room was clean. Staff were friendly, but minimal English..
Cons: Shower door was hard to close all the way so bathroom floor would get wet when I showered. Would be nice to have a small fridge in the room..

Pros: Staff were amazing !!!! Loved the view and the pools . It’s so clean ! Food was great .
Cons: Very poor wifi and hard beds
Good 7,4
Pros: You can walk to the beach, town and restaurants. The view was beautiful. The staff was friendly and professional.
Cons: The hotel needs a facelift. My air conditioner quit and I had to move to another room. One day only hot water in the shower. Hair dryer smelled like it was on the verge of burning up. All problems handled promptly, but should not be happening. Everything a little dated.
Good 6,2
Pros: The staff is fantastic, professional and so friendly. And the place is well run, no complaints there. Good food too!
Cons: Ok, so I get it, people booking through aggregators are not their ideal customer, so no wonder they put you in their worst room. But I can still review them based on that room, which honestly, no one should ever be put in, AC compressors running all night long on the other side of the wall. The room we were moved to the next day after complaining was better, but still quite noisy (laundry starts up at 8am). If you like quiet, this is not the place for you, unless you can get one of their better rooms. Cleanliness was to mexican standards. No problem for me, I'm used to it, but in my opinion quite shoddy for the price paid, I would expect resort level spit and shine for 77 bucks USD a night.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The staff and facilities were excellent. The staff were friendly and very helpful and you could tell they liked their job and wanted to be there.
Cons: Many patrons were regulars and return to this hotel annually, but they would often hoard the lounge chairs by the pool. They would get up early and place towels on the chairs then leave and go for breakfast etc, so that there weren’t any chairs available to sit by the pool but many were empty with towels. If you moved a chair or towel to use it the patrons would be snooty about it! Not everyone was like this.
Good 6,0
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: No elevator.
Good 7,0
Cons: Hotel is on a hill and our room was on a high floor. We were on foot, so lots of climbing!
Okay 5,0
Pros: This is an older hotel in a spectacular location. The staff and basic facilities were wonderful. My parents remember it fondly from the days when they were able to climb all those stairs.
Cons: Anything more than basic facilities was missing: essentially no wifi, almost no water provided, no coffee-maker or fridge. The room did not even have a chair, and the ones on the balcony were only useful for 1/2 the day because there were no awnings on the balconies. Although the pool, bar and restaurant were good and there are 2 large sundecks (with spectacular view), there were very few lounge chairs or umbrellas so it was often impossible to enjoy this space. The hotel has recently made a dramatic increase in rates, and given the extremely "cheap" facilities I would strongly advise that you spend the money elsewhere.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Breakfast was fine. The service was great.
Cons: Wi-fi needs a lot of work.
Good 7,0
Pros: In 5 years, your price has doubled,(we have stayed 3 times at Irma) but nothing else has changed to warrant this high price now. You need to do these things: 1. GET RELIABLE INTERNET THROUGHOUT, 2. MORE Umbrellas/shade by the pool, 3. CHAIR in the room 4. COFFEE MAKER IN THE ROOM 5. Mini- fridge in the room. 6. MAKE BETTER MARGARITAS from scratch and not from that horrible sweet mix. These are the things I really think you need to do because EVERYONE was complaining about these items. If you are going to charge more then please put some money back into the hotel. I won't stay again because I can stay across the street where they have kitchens, good internet and a pool for $60/night.
Excellent 10,0
Cons: small fridge in rooms would have made things more enjoyable
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Amazing staff The rooms were kept very clean We can't wait to go back

Pros: Location and cleanliness
Cons: No wifi as advertised in our room, restaurant, lounge or pool area, spotty in lobby. Drinks were small and no bottled beer, no fridge or coffee in room, towels were old and coarse. We spent little time there other than to sleep
Good 6,7
Pros: +The location is excellent. You are right on the beach, a lovely, safe beach. The bed was comfortable and had a generous supply of pillows. I ate a breakfast at their restaurant, Dona Prudencia, and it was lovely and had good food.
Cons: I probably wouldn't stay there again. It is basically an old motel that has been updated a bit. Some of the employees must not be treated well because they seem unhappy working there. The shower was spaying water upwards and out of the shower area so the bathroom floor was really wet and slippery and dangerous. I reported it to the front desk and nothing was repaired. On the 3rd day I saw a woman who seemed in charge of housekeeping and I explained about the shower and she had a repair person quickly fix the shower head. The pools are a bit sad, definitely remnants of its motel heritage.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We have been staying at Villa Mexicana for over fifteen years. And this year it just seemed exceptionally good. The front desk staff lead by Eloisa is incredible and very helpful. The restaurant was good; both food and staff. And our room was delightful. It is obvious that the owners/management of the hotel have been making some improvements to the property. So far, so good! Just don't make too many changes! A very enjoyable long vacation.
Cons: Frankly, this year I do not have any negative comments. Seriously, all good.
Good 7,9
Pros: Staff Restaurant
Cons: No small towels provided?!the shower is dangerous because there aren’t any railings to hold on too ! It’s an accident ready to happen!
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Did not have breakfast there.
Cons: Would be nice to have a fridge in the room or coffee available in the lobby.
Excellent 8,8
Pros: Great location in the beach and you can sit in the pool and watch the ocean. Quiet this years and it was the 3rd time we came. Great value! Clean! Beds are hard thou so drink lots of margaritas before retiring. Taxis on hand 24hrs. Walk to town it pay $50pesos great restaurants within walking distance or stay at the hotel. All great in zihuatanejo!
Cons: Everything
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Several pools available depending on what you were looking for. Staff were very accommodating. My only suggestion would be is to get up early and reserve a lounge chair as they are somewhat limited.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent location and very clean! Needs a few updates but I expected that from other reviewers. Great value for money. Really nice restaurant and taxis right outside when needed. Felt safe at all times. We walked in and out of town and to other beaches and restaurants very easily at all different times of the day and up until 10 pm or so.. I would go back there in a heartbeat!
Cons: beds and pillows were hard and uncomfortable. The sink and TV in our room had issues but we didn't even ask to fix them. We didn't care that much as we were only in our room to sleep. And the lock on our door was hard to manage but again we just figured it out. Oh and I wish they had a fridge. So really small things considering the price. And we didn't ask them to fix anything. One day our toilet didn't flush and they were in the room in 5 minutes!!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Breakfast was more than I expected. The portions were sizable. The location was fantastic. Unless we went to town, we never had to wear shoes and were steps away from everything we needed. We felt safe and well taken care of.
Good 7,5
Pros: Location is on the beach. There are restaurants within walking distance. TV has some Canadian & American channels. Not overcrowded. La Ropa beach is beautiful.
Cons: There is no refrigerator, so you must rely on the restaurants. No place to keep drinks, etc. only stairs to get to the second level. No recycling. No drawers for garments.in room Wifi is not very good.

Pros: The hotel is split in two, one has a view to the sea. You have to cross the street to get to the beach but the traffic in this area is really low, so no problem with that. We visited other beaches and unless you prefer a pool-like-beach this is a good option.
Good 7,5
Pros: Employees were great
Cons: The building needs work
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Great view on the beach and location to town..great boutique hotel with friendly staff
Cons: Noisy aircondioner and bed was uncomfortable.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Lovely owner, wonderful location, fabulous pool.
Cons: nothing
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Wonderful and kind staff. Responded quickly and efficiently to every request. Looked after everything very well with a smile and great attitude. Lovely traditional Mexican resort.
Cons: Garden view bedroom in La Casita could use some extra attention with electrical and shower facilities. Lamp did not work properly, flickered on and off, shade did not go on it and outlet is loose. and shower was unusable as it ran outside the stall running over the entire floor or did not offer enough water pressure to shower. Ladder and noise from cleaners storage unit outside back window spoiled otherwise nice garden view.
Mediocre 3,0
Pros: Location was ok. I was booked for 3 weeks. Left after one. With no hassles. Maid was good. Pillows were soft.
Cons: Price of room. Did not have what was guaranteed . No coffee pot. Room on ground level did not receive. Something from the ceiling keep falling onto our very small fridge. I had no water some times.. No Internet in my room. Tv was from 1970's..
Poor 1,0
Pros: Hotel plus was the proximity to the beach and the fact that the man at the front desk had great customer service.
Cons: I booked two rooms at this location. Both were spectacularly TERRIBLE. The hotel room I stayed in was extremely dirty. There were cobwebs in the bathroom, leftover toothpaste on the faucet and mirror, dirt on the walls, lamps that did not work at all, dusty closet doors and fans, mattresses that had lost all level of comfort, and a phone that did not work. I would NOT recommend this place to ANYONE. My mother stayed in the other room and hers was equally bad. I would not recommend booking a room at this hotel. ever.

Pros: Great location and excellent, helpful and informative staff, some of whom had very good English. The Included breakfast was made to order and delicious (though sadly the coffee was a bit weak). This place is just a few steps from the waterfront.
Cons: No gripes really.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Very lovely staff. Enjoyed the included breakfast and the choices provided. Great location, lovely pool and rooftop restaurant with a view.
Cons: I was disappointed that the guests here were not allowed to use the staircase to the beach at the co- managed hotel across the street. I stayed at the ZihuaCaracol 6 years ago and that was why I chose to return. Previously we had access to the staircase, as a single woman traveling it was a safer way to reach the beach. The main access near another hotel often had inebriated males hanging around. I didn't enjoy walking through them to get to the beach.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Super friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Room was large. Beds and pillows were good for Mexico standards. Clean place. Pool area was nice and usually quite during the week. Weekends were busier when locals came but they were quite by 10 pm. If you tip your maid everyday (like you should) you got extra little special details.
Cons: Owner has a big dog (rotti I believe) that he lets roam in the back enclosed area (security reasons I am thinking) at night but the dang thing barks a lot and upset most of the guests. Other then the dog issue it’s a great little hotel to rest your head.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We really enjoyed the variety of different options for breakfast and the service was excellent and so was the food.
Cons: We would have appreciated a fan in Room 00 Sun and Moon in the lilving/kitchen area.... the bedroom/bathroom was just great withe the A/C.
Okay 4,0
Pros: Pretty basic. Breakfast is same no matter what you order on al a carte menu. Water available is nice feature
Cons: I sent a note to property requesting early check-in. They indicated yes if room was available. I arrived 3 hours ahead at which time I checked-in but they said my room was not ready. But they said feel free to use facilities....so I did and had a look around including finding that maid had just finished my room. All ready complete with goose towel on bed. Back to front desk to let them know my room was ready only to find that “this isn’t our policy “? Excuse me you said “I could check in early if room ready and it’s ready”....”oh but that’s not our policy , you can leave your bags here at desk”.......I noticed the manager, this rude lady apppeared to give me the DONT talk to me hand when I tried to talk to her. She mentioned something to desk clerk before disappearing in her office. At this point clerk turns to me and says “senior we will try to accommodate you “.....”oh ok”.......20 minutes go by with me staring at this guy. “So sir is everything ok? Can I go up?”...”excuse me senior ? What do you mean?”....”can I have the key to my room?” ....o no senior you have to wait until 3.” ...”what you said you were going to accommodate me, why did you make me wait ?” “O the manager she says no” So there we sat by pool , myself a family and another couple for 3 hours before they handed us keys even though all our rooms were ready. In that time we may have seen 10 people in this very tired hotel.manager is confrontational rude and hostile . Go to Irma across street. Don’t waste your time.
Excellent 8,8
Pros: The staff are so amazing and accommodating. We arrived too early for check in and they stored our bags and gave us an area to change into beachwear. The breakfast every morning was delicious! In the 8 days we were here we only ate breakfast off property once. The rooms are clean with great views!
Cons: The beds are hard and the rooms could use a little deep cleaning, the curtains needed a good washing. But the bed linens were changed daily and clean. The dinner restaurant at the hotel was just ok. There are a lot of better food options very close.
Excellent 8,3
Pros: Very friendly/helpful staff Exceptionally clean Great water pressure in shower Good AC Perfect location/within walking distance from everything
Cons: Could use some upgrading, everything is old. Beds/pillows not very comfortable. Fan in addition to AC would be nice. Window screens would be nice as the mosquitoes were pretty bad.

Pros: Spending time away from the hotel.
Cons: Did not like the facility; it looks outdated, the shower leaked to the restroom, the bed was lumpy and the hotel's amneties charge was exesive for what we got. Ran out of water and they did not replenish. There was a pile of feces going down the stairs to the beach, been here almost a week and it is still there. The air conditioner made a ticking noise.
Excellent 8,3
Pros: My stay was short but wonderfull
Cons: Location
Excellent 9,2
Pros: The staff are all friendly, hardworking and are very helpful. The rooms are very nice, the pool is awesome and the view is the best in Madera! Front desk manager,Gerardo,is a gentleman and offers local tips on dining and recreation.Overall,a most satisfying and felaxing stay.
Good 7,9
Pros: Great location on the beach. Nice pool to cool off in. Balconies are perfect to watch the sunsets.
Cons: Could do with some more pool recliners.

Pros: When we first got there it looked great , super location . Only 1/4 block to the beach
Cons: The room was really dark, kitchenette was tiny, only had a little bar fridge , toilet paper spindle missing and it sits on toilet or floor. Shower had super pressure but a very fine spray that could cut rocks. It really hurt so I tied a facecloth around spout, helped a lot. On the safe the electronics did not work so we had to use a key which makes you feel not secure. It was ok though. All the pictures on website are a lot better than what is there. Some look like they took when first opened. Right now they are building on . They should do some repairs also. Our kitchenette had no micro or toaster and dirty dishes. We ate out for all meals. The lady that was awesome and always helped was Mary. It seems like she works 7 days a week. Great to talk to , she knows good English . The best part was Location.

Good 7,0
Pros: So close to beach
Cons: House keeping was a little sketchy at times. No restaurant as advertised.
Poor 1,0
Pros: Location is not bad.
Cons: Maintenance of the property was poor. Some of the staffs attitude were poor. Toilet kept running when it was flushed until you removed the top to push down the flipper valve. Toilet seat was torn. There was a large hole in the screen in the bathroom. The first night they put us in a small room and one hand towel. The next day they moved us to a larger room with one hand towel and two beach towels. No bath towels. There was a spa pool but the water was filthy. When asked the said it will be cleaned tomorrow on the day when we leave. There were 100 steps to our room on the third floor. No phone in the room so you had to go done and up to report any problems. On the 2nd day we were ask when we came back from breakfast if she could clean the room. We said give us 30 minutes. When we returned at 4 PM room was still undone. Shortly after we had returned they ask us if wanted our room cleaned. Design of the hotel made it sound like the guests in a room above us were in our room as the partied to 2 AM.

Excellent 9,6
Pros: Excellent location! Minute walk to beach and any of the LaRopa shops. The staff are very friendly and the hotel is clean. Great stay! Also, I have long hair and finding places with adequate water pressure is challenging. Las Azucenas has incredible water pressure
