9,5 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hosts, helpful and informative about local activities. Helpful also providing information on the next leg of our journey. Very comfortable bed and gorgeous view from room and communal lounge area with fantastic sunny deck. A little out of town but worth it for view and surrounds (not even 5 minutes). Stay here if you want a quiet and comfortable relaxing stay. We stayed after catching the Tranzalpine from Christchurch - well worth the stay. Also great recommendation of both Ali’s kitchen for late lunch and the Albion bar(kingsgate hotel).

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Our experience at Oak Lodge left us feeling that we should have booked more homestays for our month long tour of New Zealand rather than the motels that we used elsewhere. This property had the wow factor as soon as we stepped in through the door. Alastair and Shirley were exceptionally welcoming hosts and had much to tell us about the local area. We had the fabulous balcony room with amazing views over the wonderful New Zealand countryside.Extra bonuses included a tour of the property which involved an opportunity to feed the small flock of sheep Alastair keeps on the property and goldfish in the garden pond. We even managed to fit in a couple of games of pool before bed. The very tasty breakfast was a welcome change from the self made breakfasts we had been used to in our other accommodation. The guest lounge was spacious, comfortable, and well laid out with usual kitchen facilities you would find in a motel. If you are stopping in Greymouth we would certainly recommend a stay here.

Pros: Well furnished apartment in home 10 mins walk from beach Warm welcome and care taken to make our stay enjoyable.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: This place was amazing! Clean and spacious apartment with all the facilities that you need for a relaxing holiday. The hosts Paul and Lynley made us feel welcome throughout our entire stay but the best part was going for breakfast every morning and being spoiled with homemade food such as muffins, granola, bread etc. They even catered for my food intolerances and I never felt I was missing out on something.
Cons: A bit on the pricier side but definitely worth it.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: We really enjoyed our stay at Awatuna Homestead, and would have been very happy to stay for more than one night if we hadn't been in the middle of a driving loop down the west coast of New Zealand. Our hosts Lynley and Paul were very gracious and welcoming; our room and then common areas were very nice, clean and comfortable. The gardens and yard were lovely. We booked dinner at the homestead, and it was delicious and satisfying. Wi-Fi was decent.
Cons: The only slight inconvenience was that the homestead is near a railroad track, and we were briefly awakened by a 3:00 AM freight train. Our hosts warned us about it, and there was only one overnight train, and we quickly fell back asleep. So it was not a real problem.

Cons: N/A
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed @ 6 different properties / hotels during our 14 day South Island trip and this was by far the best property we stayed in. It was just an amazing place, just a short drive from Hokatika. I cannot say enough about the property and the amazing hosts!! The property was just stunning - every inch of it! The gardens were simply intriguing and the rooms were just amazing. The hosts took care of every small little detail. We even got some home cooked bakery when we reach and they were simply out of this world!! We cannot thank the hosts enough. They are simply the best! At night, we saw the most amazing stars we have ever seen due to the darks skies in the area (absolutely no light population what so ever!!). Our only regret is that we stayed @ the property only for 1 day.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly hosts! Sumptuous dinner and breakfast. Wonderful stop. No hesitation to recommend and would go back again. Great place to explore Hokitika and surrounds from.
7,0 Good
Pros: The welcome, food & breakfast were irreproachable.
Cons: Mistake on our part. We assumed a king room @300dollars would NOT be virtually completely filled by a king bed with not even an upright chair possible. Other room options may be fine.

Pros: Managers very kind and helpful when we had problem with the first room and was sorted quickly thankyou
Cons: The first room Room 11 we were in was very tired. The bathroom was not clean and smelt and this made the whole unit smell if the door was open. Hot water was non existent in the shower. The water pressure fluctuated. The cistern/pipes made terrible groaning noise when toilet flushed. Taps and fittings chipped and worn. Mould on tiles in bathroom. Lightbulb out above the bed. Sandwiched between railway line and main road so very noisy.
