Pros: The breakfast was good quality. Good coffee at a buffet breakfast is rare in most hotels. The coffee machine is Nespresso and their orange juice is freshly squeezed. Excellent. Top marks. The rooms are a good standard with a fridge and tea ans coffee facilities. I would like to see the toileteries, which are single use plastics replaced by large refillable containers which are fixed in the shower etc. It will be more economical and better for the environment.

Pros: Hotel Historic on the street Carrer de Bellmirall quickly became one of my favorite stays. This family-owned gem at the top of old Girona boasts cavernous stone common areas, a small communal balcony-with-a-view on the top floor, and a perfect location for people who enjoy meandering through the medieval and pristine walkways. The innkeepers tended to our needs and questions, were accommodating and hospitable. Just note that other hotels have a similar name. Hotel Historic is on Bellmirall.

We also loved the fact that this is a family run hotel and admired the light fittings made by a family member. Good breakfast too and we appreciated the welcome bottle of wine in our room. Cons: My taxi driver (I arrived from Tamariu) was not local so could not access easily (and he got completely lost). Not at all the hotel’s fault but the location in the windy streets of the old town means an ‘out of town’ driver could struggle like mine did. For my very early departure the hotel organized a taxi and it was perfect, on time, right outside the door, good safe driver. I’d really recommend liaising with the hotel on how to arrive with a local driver as it could avoid some stress!

Pros: The hotel is well located, a few minutes from where you can access the wall around part of the city and about 5-6 minutes from the tourist office/start of the most interesting areas. It is also a 5-6 minute walk to Plaça de la Independència where you will find lots of restaurants (not only here, but this is a lovely spot for dinner). The hotel was spotless and very comfortable - the staff are exceptionally helpful. With reservation and payment, there is secure parking very close to the hotel.

Pros: The location could not have been better. Two minutes walk to the main square and restuarants. The breakfast was pretty good, and the staff pleasant and very helpful. The indoor pool, rest area, hot showers and fluffy white towels were the perfect requirement after a day walking around Girona in a hot day.

Pros: The property was overall good. Nothing to rant and rave about but simply good. Big comfortable and clean rooms, nice toilet amenities and a lovely little pool and spa area. The hotel is situated in Girona town centre, more to the old part of the city which is a bonus. You have everything you need around you. Restaurants and of course, the iconic cathedral!
Cons: The property was overpriced for what it was. I understand that it’s located centrally but there’s nothing really special about it. I personally didn’t eat at the restaurant simply for the fact of how expensive it was. Breakfast wasn’t good and to top it off, It’s £14.50 per person. That’s with our “discount”. The elevator always seems to be broken and when it does work it moves at snail pace. It wasn’t really an issue for me as I can run up and down the stairs but for elderly people or disabled, it isn’t exactly ideal.

The prices in the bar at the 5th floor are high, alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails have the same price (18 euro for 2 cocktails - strawberry mohito and a virgin mohito). The bed was not the most comfortabel (hard and small).

The area is a residential area on the edge of the tourist area so there was a laundromat nearby and small grocery stores for picking up supplies. It is a short walk to the lovely old town. Cons: 1) We chose this hotel because of parking, but there was no free place on the hotel’s parking. It was strange, as the didn’t require to book parking place beforehand. We had to search the parking ourselves almost at night, in unknown city... 2) When we finally found parking place, it was late and we hoped to have dinner in the hotel, because there were no restaurants near it. It was near 11 pm. But the restaurant in the hotel didn’t work at this time. The girl at the reception told us, that there were tapas and salads in the bar on the roof. When we came in the bar, there was nothing there except drinks... and the barman told us to go in Macdonalds

Cons: I was feeling lazy and decided to have dinner at the hotel. In retrospect, I shouldn't have. The dining room was just about empty which might say something and in fairness being vegan didn't help. The waiter did go out of his way to help but I didn't feel that I got value for money and that it was just pasta with a bottle of sauce. I think the dining room lacks a certain something.
