I've been before and it is still astunning setting and venue.
whilst in Covid not a fair question.
The location is in a beautiful golf estate.
When we arrived, they refused to carry our bags stating that the service was no longer available. The hotel smelled of dust and the room of smoke. The tv and aircon in the room was not working. When we asked for help, the maintenance person told us the hotel was shut down. We found garden furniture inside the room with dust and bird poo. We were then moved to another room after which time they switched off our electricity in the early hours of the morning, around 6/7. They refused to cater for breakfast even though it was included in the room rate, stating that the hotel was shutting down. They gave us small packs. We were not informed of the hotel shutting down prior to ur stay and were treated rudely by the staff
The reception staff the potter drivers the breakfast not forgetting the security the environment....
The cleaning staff weren't really doing the good job the bathroom glasses and mirrors looked like they were being wiped with wet towels and the first day the duvet cover had some stains .
Beautiful location and room with a view.
We communicated in several occasions if it was still safe to come to the Hotel amidst the COVID-19 outbreak (even phoning on The morning of our arrival and speaking to Brian) and were reassured that it was ‘business as usual’. The staff at Herolds Restaurant were clueless! Room service served in polystyrene boxes (how is that any more hygienic than a plate covered up with dome/cling film?). Lemon aioli was changed for slices of lemon. Preserves for ‘cheese platter’ swopped with apricot and strawberry jam. Checked in at 2:30pm, received a call from management at 6pm to tell us there is a confirmed case of Corona in the hotel. We can choose to leave or stay. We couldn’t leave as we were way above the legal limit for driving. Next morning they had the audacity to charge us for the one night and treat us like we were stupid when it comes to food! Seriously R180 for a ‘cheese platter’ served in a 15cm by 15cm polystyrene tub. Essentially made up of 1cm square blocks of 4 cheeses and cashew nuts and raisins... oh and jam? Also found check in cards from previous ‘occupants’ on shelf above tv. So how well did this room get cleaned before we arrived? Due to your selfish mismanagement of a serious matter I am now isolated and cannot see my kids or family for 14 days! Ridiculous!
Aircon did not work sufficiently Water was not hot Room service took very long and food was cold when it arrived - they did not however charge for it. Three plugs did not work in one of our rooms
