Pros: The hotel is very centrally located to shopping, restaurants and bars as well as the subway line and buses. The staff were friendly enough and the breakfast is good.

Cons: I arrived with an early morning flight after flying all night and arrived at the hotel by 10am. I was advised that official check in wasn't until 2pm and I would have to wait until this time. I found this somewhat strange considering most North American hotels will allow you to check in if they have a room ready. Even if they didn't immediately have a room ready, they usually make an effort to get you into a room as soon as one is cleaned and ready. I sat patiently in the lobby for the next two hours and then made another attempt at noon to see if any rooms had been cleaned and were ready to be moved into. The front desk's English was very poor so it was difficult to communicate but they again told me that check in wasn't until 2pm. I tried to reason with them that surely some of the rooms must have been cleaned by this point and but was told again that check in would only take place at 2pm. I was told that if I wanted to check in earlier, I would need to pay 3500 Yen for the "overtime". I couldn't quite understand what overtime would be involved since they had to clean my room regardless -- it was just a case of what order they were going to clean it compared to other rooms. I refused to pay this fee and returned to sit on the sofa in the lobby for another two hours. Finally at 2pm I was permitted to check in. I got up to my room only to discover that it was a smoking room (yes, there is still such a thing!). I called down to the desk and explained that I had been assigned a smoking room but wasn't a smoker (interestingly, the kayak site that I booked the hotel on didn't ask for a smoking preference). I was told that there were no non-smoking rooms available (despite me presumably being the first person to check in today!) and that they would send someone up to get rid of the smoke smell. Unfortunately we know how that goes... they attempted to get the smoke smell out but it didn't make much difference. Even thought I was only there for one night, my clothes and luggage still came away smelling like smoke. Hardly an enjoyable experience for the price paid!

Pros: You stay here because of the location and good value for money. Nothing really exciting but good basic and clean, good size room for Japanese. Near to canal, nice view to canal from my room. Evening time you can eat fresh seafood by the canal’s “tent restaurants “.

Pros: This is our second stay here and we really like the cleanliness of the room, breakfast buffet were delicious, a lot of varieties of food to choose. Location of the hotel is centrally located to shopping malls like Tenjin and Canal City, lots of restaurants and convenient stores around the hotel.

Cons: The bath room was not cleaned well but otherwise it was pretty cleaned .

Pros: Location & accessibility to shopping. Everything is just a few steps away.

Pros: The room was contemporary and clean. The best thing about this hotel is the location right near a subway station and across the canal from two parks and the symphony hall building, which is a great attraction alone because of its green-covered pyramid that you can climb. In the evening, several yatai food stalls set up down the street. It's a great Japanese summer pastime to stroll the canal and get some yakitori. Great location for that.

Pros: The staff were so friendly and helpful , room was lovely, it was a great location for me , so much within walking distance . I would return without a problem.

Cons: I know you are going for a particular atmospheric feel but I find the lack of lighting in the hotel in general just a bit annoying. It reminds me of an Abercrombie & Fitch type store regarding the lighting or a hotel in Las Vegas where they consciously try to keep you in night time (gambling) mode. It is just slightly annoying as I say . Maybe at least turn the lights up in the lifts and a little bit in the corridors leading to bedrooms. I had to help an elderly couple who could not see the room numbers .

Cons: Staff were not particularly friendly. No hotel information in room in English. Not disabled or luggage friendly, we had to drag our heavy bags up a lot of stairs which were not well lit in order to reach reception. Poor air conditioning in room. Inadequate signage indicating how to enter the hotel upon arrival.

Cons: 20 steps to climb to get to the lobby. With baggage without help.under sun or rain. What about disabled or older clients? Nothing is said in the hotel description. Common parts dark and poorly lighten (find it smart?) In the lift you barely distinguish floor numbers on the board. Staff kind but not english speeking.communication very difficult. No directory in the room.impossible to call room service. No social spaces.bar closed used as luggage storage.

Pros: Modern and comfortable hotel. Good location close to river with Yatai stalls and downtown area. Easy to get from Hakata station on foot (20minutes) and to airport (walked to bus station which is next to Hakata station, then frequent direct buses to airport (can use Passmo or Suica IC cards). Queued for Ramen Ichiran Main restaurant in Nakasu area and had delicious ramen.

Cons: Breakfast was expensive so we didn't use

Pros: The hotel is strategically located, close to city and my meeting location.

Cons: Before check in, I had to climb a flight of stairs with my luggage just to get to the lobby. There does not seem to be an elevator.
