Freudenstadt hotels

Pros: Beautiful hotel in the Black Forest, large and comfortable rooms. Great breakfast buffet. A light lunch buffet is also included which comes in handy after the generous breakfast. The restaurant for dinner is superb though on the expensive side. Friendly staff, very responsive to guest requests.

Cons: Restaurant for dinner is great but a bit expensive and closes very early (7:30). It's the norm for small town restaurants so not really surprising but for guests it would be useful to have some choices if you get there a bit later, for example coming back from a day trip.

Pros: Almost everything. Great breakfast and dinner, very kind staff, quiet place and surroundings. Lucky also to enjoy a lot of snow. Also great pool and sauna(s).

Cons: Maybe a coffee machine in the room would help.

Cons: Not family friendly. They charged 60 euro extra because our baby wet a bed.

Pros: Right in the centre of town with garage parking. We had booked a garage for our motorcycle but inconsiderate parking from other guests meant the garage was blocked. The hotel staff went out of their way to accommodate us and even vacated their own personal garage to make sure our needed were looked after. Smart modern room with a huge bath. Lovely breakfast and food looked ok but we did not eat there. Would definitely stay again.

Pros: Great staff (very accomodating with language barrier) and great rooms (especially the bathroom). We really enjoyed our stay as part of a longer journey for our honeymoon. We would stay here again.

Pros: Bathroom with separate toilet. Spacious room with balcony. Large comfy bed. Spacious breakfast room with plenty of choice for breakfast.

Cons: Odd timber frame separating sitting area from sleeping area.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice restaurant and spa facility. If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax, this is the one!

Cons: The towels and bedsheets are a bit old. Can tell they have been washed a million times. But still clean.

Pros: Highways on two sides and train on the other. No air- cons& too noisy to open windows. To hot. Not suitable for tourists. Only local packaged retirees.

Cons: Noise & too hot with windows closed. Poor receptionist with snooty attitude. No hospitality for tourists to stopover in Black Forest.

Pros: Our room was spacious with a large bathroom and monsoon shower. The veranda looked out on to meadows and forested hills. We enjoyed the small indoor swimming pool and the large sauna. There are a number of walking routes that start from the hotel. As well as the A la Carte menu in the restaurant, there is also the cheaper Bienenkorble menu. The staff were always cheerful, friendly and helpful.

Pros: An excellent buffet breakfast with a huge array of different treats not to mention additional egg dishes cooked on request. This had to be the most welcoming hotel we have stayed in worldwide with a beautiful large bedroom. Although we did not experience any of the wellness services there is a very nice indoor pool and plenty of healthy packages on offer. Igelsberg is a small pretty village surrounded by Black Forest walking and cycling routes only a few minutes drive from all the facilities of Freudenstadt. A must see for animal lovers is the nearby wolf and bear park.

Pros: Hotel Krone exceeded our expectations with it's typical Black Forest Charm. All the staff were super friendly and we can highly recommend it.

Cons: The menu in German only and it been hard to order a dinner.

Pros: Bed is comfortable, nice terrace and spacious rooms, very clean rooms.

Cons: We could not reach the hotel by phone so we booked through booking.com and wrote them an email. They asked for our phone number to call us back but they did not. We asked for a quiet room which was approved through booking but it was on the corner, to the street, with also noisy guests above us. The waiter (also receptionist) was for us too exuberant when we only wanted to have a quiet dinner.

Pros: Very friendly staff, clean and well equip room, breakfast is excellent. Will recommend others to come here. Of course parking is free.

Pros: Very peaceful setting with lovely view and a very friendly welcome. Slightly dated but extremely clean tidy room. Traditional German fare for evening meal - lovely.

Pros: Very comfortable hotel with friendly helpful staff. The hotel was centrally located near the main square. The room was very clean and comfortable with a minibar (reasonable prices), hot water kettle and glassware. The cable TV had a wide range of channels and excellent internet service. The breakfast buffet had a wide range of offering with made to order egg choices. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was exceptional (of Michelin quality) with an extensive wine list at all prices. I highly recommend this hotel and would return.

Cons: Unfortunately for us, some of the rooms and hallway was undergoing renovation. However, it did not affect the comfort of our room and the future guests will have newly renovated rooms on the lower levels. There was no elevator, so guests with mobility issues should ask for lower level rooms.

Pros: The staff were fantastic and the breakfasts were delicious. The restaurant in particular were super accommodating of my small children.

Cons: Carrying my luggage up all the stairs, but the authenticity of the „older“ style building was worth it.

Pros: breakfast was excellent with array of juices, breads, cheeses, cold meats, fruit and spreads. Also 2 eggs done to your preference and bacon optional. Coffee and tea. What more could you ask.

Cons: We are on a long journey into cold climes, consequently bulky luggage. Stairs easily negotiated but not preferred. I understand that in older buildings lifts not always installable. In balance, we preferred the location to the worry over the steps but as older travellers there will come a time when we cannot take up that option.

Pros: I was emailed with the door code to get in prior to arriving. They had our key in the hotel restaurant, ready for our arrival. We arrived around 6pm and placed our things in the room and went down to the restaurant for food. We had a lovely dinner. Unfortunately it was the first snow of the season (for them, not us!) and the renovations seemed to affect the number of guests in the restaurant. We had a great sleep and then had our breakfast buffet which was larger than we expected, considering we were the only guests they had. I beautiful drive there from Basel, Switzerland and back. I would suggest this place if you are looking to stay in the area.

Cons: The hotel was partially under renovations due to water damage prior to our arrival. It didn't affect our overnight stay. I would suggest that they inform future guests, while the renovations are under place, just as a heads up. It didn't bother us, but be warned of the stairs required to get up to the rooms. We didn't see a lift/elevator.

Cons: Our family had to keep the windows open all night because we smelled from the painted windows. I told the staff about this, but they answered that they did not understand, and there were not apologies and checks. Breakfast was terrible .

Pros: This small Hotel just 3 km from Freudenstadt was perfect for our 1 night stay. It s at a very quiet location what we really liked. The room was spotless clean, there was everything you needed. The value for money was really good. At the breakfast there was good coffee, marmelade, nutella, cheese , ham, etc., yoghurts, cereals, juices, eggs. People who complained here about no sweet cakes, fruit, vegetables etc should book more expensive 5 starhotels with huge breakfastbuffets. We really found it great for this price. The breakfastroom is sunny and cosy and has a brilliant view as well. Sauna opens at 17.00. Tell the owner what time you want to use it and she ll turn it on for you. 30 Minutes later its ready f use. It s not a big saunaarea, but clean, lovely decorated and you ll get a bathrobe and towels extra. We liked our stay and are thinking about coming back in the summer. For those who don twant to go out f diner to Freudenstadt, he hotel next door has a restaurant. We didnt go there because the service at the terrace for just a cup of coffee was very slow and with a lack of inerest. Altough there were only 6 others guests

Pros: Rooms were cleaned,big enough. Location was very good - closed to touristic roads. Quite place with beautiful view. Also owners are very kind and nice. If I go to Scharzwald area again, I will stay surely here again ;-)

Pros: The staff were very accommodating, helping me find a parking space and storing my bicycles in a secure space (the chef is a keen cyclist). The restaurant is excellent, where again the staff were brilliant. They made sure we had a high chair for our son every morning before we even arrived for breakfast, gave him a little toy to play with, and frequently came over to chat. The location is also perfect, just a few meters away from the square. We will definitely return.

Pros: Nice looking hotel on a small lake. That is one of the best things I can tell about this place. Most other experiences with this hotel were much less positive. Actually it was the worst staying in Germany we had during our road trip. Pitty for such a beautiful place.

Cons: One of our lesser staying in Germany during the roadtrip. Both with Check-in & out was the staff rude. The pool (reason I booked it) was closed when we came. Prices for Spa are ridiculous (not communicated on here) WiFi is bad and our overall staying is not what we expected from such a nice looking place. Pitty its also so close to a highway. Even during walks in the forrest did you hear the cars racing by. It looks nice, but there are many better places to stay when visiting the Black Forrest. Breakfast; Many positive reviews, but we came 45min before ending of breakfast time and almost all food was gone. Not even some eggs. Pitty the staff made us not feel welcomed here.

Pros: Personell was really nice and helpfull, wonderfull view from the restaurant terrace, spa is a 5 min walk up on the hill though. The surroundings of the hotel are still in renovation, for sure it will look nicer than at the moment.

Cons: Not much negative to say, first morning at the breakfast was weird as nobody was at the restaurant entrance to sit you and when I went to sit near the windows with the nice wiev I saw that all tables are reserved. Had to find a service person to ask where I can sit as the reserved signs were so small, you saw only when u were right at the table.

Pros: The hotel is 10 min by car from the downtown. It’s quiet and beautiful. You can enjoy the beauty of the town as a “bird view”. There is even a indoor swimming pool in the hotel. The room is super big but be careful, the wild insects will fly into the room in the night.:)

Cons: This hotel does not have the necessary finesse of a 4 star hotel, some youth hostels have more luxury. Very small room and even smaller bathroom. The parking is charged 10 euro while it's not even in a city center.

Pros: The size of the room and all the hotel installation are formidable. It is really a good deal for its price and it is not so far from city centre.

Pros: Rooms were nice and comfortable. Got a family suite with connected room for kids which was great. The facilities were far better than my expectations. Bath room was quite clean.

Cons: Underground parking is too narrow. TV does not seem to have parental control and contains adult contents. Location of the hotel is ideal for someone visiting Black Forst but not for those wanting to use it as a stopover.

Pros: One of the nicer Hotels we've been in. Friendly and helpful Staff, lots of things to do on site. The rooms were fancy designed and clean. Big flatscreen TV with a variety of Blockbusters to choose from, fancy led lighting, free Minibar stocked with a few soft drinks. Great view over Freudenstadt from the balcony. Fast check in and check out. We will definitely come back.
