Dom Pedro I Palace Hotel

Decent enough location, very clean. Rooms were fine. Breakfast was very good. Close to the restaurant that has the cultural shows, close to a shopping mall. (all walking distance) not that far from the falls and the bird park or the airport! and also not that far from the city centre which is worth a visit one night for a meal. Pretty decent value for money. I have no idea if the staff speak English or not as I was always practising my Portuguese there. One you boy does actually! He was very helpful. A good choice, my overall score might be a little harsh on this place.

Well, there seemed to be some problems when I looked up the location of this hotel, I cant remember if it was booking.coms or Google, or I just went crazy for a moment. But i booked this hotel because it was supposed to be only a 6 minute walk from the Falls park....it is not! it is about a 20 minute drive. it's not a big distance but when you are expecting to be able to walk there and it turns out you have to take a taxi there and back it was a shock added expense! When I was checking in the man behind the desk was the least interested and animated man I have ever seen doing anything. he made it quite difficult to do a check in , it's hard as it is as I am speaking a different language i am not fluent in (portuguese) and he made it more difficult. But the other staff memebers there seemed more helpful. Actually, when i contacted this hotel by email before i arrived the person i spoke to was VERY helpful and help book us a reservation for the Ipora Lenda Show just down the road from the hotel (this was a 6 minute walk haha) a show i reccommend seeing if you want something to do of an evening.
