7 night stay Sofitel Mauritius
Fantastic pool area and right on the beach front, both the pool and beach has a number of sun loungers with cushions which is lovely. Also scattered around the beautiful gardens are a number of four poster beds that you can lay on and watch the sun go down. The buffet restaurant has a large selection of food that should cater for everybody’s needs, you can also use the spa pool and sauna with no extra charge. You just need to visit the spa to pre book. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable exactly what you would expect from a 5 star hotel.
The hotel is beautiful and its a shame that the staff let it down so badly, they are useless. If you order a coffee for breakfast you might have to remind them a few times before it actually arrives. The new sentence learnt whilst staying at the Sofitel is “no it’s not possible” They sell it as 5 restaurants. However 1 is a beach bar so it’s more of a lunchtime place to eat not the evening. The remaining 4 comprises of a Buffett (open every day) and Chinese and Japanese (open every other day) plus an a la carte restaurant with approx £80pp supplement. So if you like it or not you will be dining in the buffet restaurant for half you’re holiday. Veginterians or anybody with special dieterty requests be aware. Even though there is a leaflet in the room saying to contact the restaurant manager for an special requests the answers we got was “it’s not possible” that’s the Japanese and al a carte out as they have no veggie options. The Chinese restaurant has 3 options all priced around £15 but when you have paid £100 HB supplement per person per night its not really value for money. The sunloungers are great, but there seemed to be a reserve culture going on. As beds seemed to get reserved with a book or a towel from the night before and the hotel staff did nothing about this. All in all it’s a beautiful hotel. Would I go back. No. So I guess that says it all.
