The place was very clean and comfortable. The room was the one shown in the pics. The guy who checked us in and out (sorry can't remember his name) was a decent guy as was the young lady( think she was a cleaner). Both made us feel very welcome The interior of the property was as shown in the pics and was beautiful. Very close to the Medina and restaurants. It exceeded my expectations apart from the repair to the door frame where it had been broken in the past. I would have liked to stay here for the duration of out booking and I am sure the stay would have been fine however the wife didn't feel comfortable.
The doors to the rooms were flimsy and lacked security. The door frame had been repaired around the lock and looked like it had been broken into in the past. My wife didn't feel comfortable staying here after seeing the repair so we decided to check out early.
Excellent traditional Riad, that has all facilities as shown on the website. It was very quiet when I stayed so they upgraded me to one of the best rooms free of charge which was awesome. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast that is included also excellent. Like all old Riads it does have potential to be cold (but room had blankets and AC) and people should be aware of typical steep stairs to upper floors. I think the location was also very good, even though it is on the low side of the Médina (meaning you walk up hill to all the main city sights and is +20mins walk to the main tourist area of the Blue Gate), as you can actually get a taxi to/from Rcif Place, and totally avoid the Médina at night and easily connect to onward transport like train station and airport, etc.
The only downside to the location is if you walk through the Médina late at night (i.e. back down from the main tourist area). It is doable with some navigation (as I found some Souk ways have closed doors at night and the mobile phone GPS is very hit and miss in many locations), but unfortunately like a lot of experiences in the Fes Médina, it comes with a lot of harassment from many local youths that have decided it is a good source of income to deliberately confuse directions for tourists and then ask (and at times pressure) them for large payments for “guide services”. The 10MAD petit taxi from the Blue Gate is actually a lot easier! and why I think the location of this Riad is actually very good.
The breakfast was great and the location is fantastic you are just located within the walls of the Medina not in the crazy maze of the medina.
Nice localisation, easy to find Riad. Very helpful personel, solved all of our problems (including arranging a car rental) Thanks!
Unpleasent smell coming from bathroom.
Staff was amazing! They were always very helpful, they were speaking great English and one person even German. We felt like at home! We got upgrade with the larger room.
