Cons:
Check around the holidays to make sure the place is open, even if they show up online. I spent a lot of extra money on renting a car For only half of the time I needed it. Avis was not helpful in compensating for this.keddy by Europcar

Cons:
I got a letter 3 weeks after the return that claimed I smoked in the car and there was excessive smoke smell. I did not smoke, never have smoked in my life. They are charging me $450 and I have petitioned their customer service multiple times. They keep escalating it to another bureaucratic level of the business to hand off the problem to the next customer service representative. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and I will be filing a consumer fraud report to the Attorney General's Office of Illinois. This company has absolutely committed fraud and is trying to find a way to book extra revenue. I will never do business with the Avis Budget group (the company that owns Payless) ever again.8,0 Very Good

At pick-up they switched to a different vehicle which was an "upgrade" to a mid-sized SUV for the same price. Appreciated that, but once I left MSP I realized that the vehicle had not been washed or re-filled with gas, and so the Fuel light went on almost immediately (36 miles left). So I had to immediately gas up. The net of this was that I returned the vehicle with 150 miles left, and therefore bought more gas than I actually used. I documented the issue on the day of pickup and took a photo of my gas purchase...so at least I didn't get hit with a fuel surcharge. But it would have been better for things to have been done right from the start.Alamo

I was charged an extra $107.00 for something. I still have no idea what it was for and the receipt, which was emailed to me, does not disclose the reason for the charge. I will have to contact Hertz for an explanation. It might have been done in error but it did not apply to any extra that I agreed to pay. I am very disappointed and was quite surprised to see the amount on the emailed receipt.4,8 Mediocre
