Top tips for hiring a car at Charleroi Brussels airport

  • Car hire in Brussels will give you the freedom to go where you want when you want. It will also avoid having to figure out public transport options. Hiring a car from the airport is convenient, and after a few documentation checks, your journey to Brussels begins. Hiring a vehicle also allows you the opportunity to visit surrounding areas and places you might only discover by car.
  • When deciding on what sort of hire car to choose for your car hire at Charleroi Brussels Airport (CRL), think about what sort of trip you are planning on. This will ultimately help you decide what you need. If you are planning on doing some long-distance road travel, then you can choose whether a small, compact, fuel-efficient car is suitable for you or if you want to spend a bit more cash for the comfort and extra space of an SUV-type car.
  • If you are planning on taking a trip to famed Belgium, then you could use a car hire from Charleroi Brussels Airport to get to your accommodation and then hop on the public transport for a day in the city. Belgium is known to be a traffic jam capital of the world, so don’t waste precious sightseeing time stuck behind the wheel. There will be many other opportunities to use your hire car to explore, but inner city Belgium is not one of them.
  • If you are using a Charleroi Brussels Airport car hire, you will be using a world-renowned brand that has different options for your pick-up and drop-off. If you are flying back home from the same airport, you will be able to conveniently drop off your car at the airport before your flight. Most of these car companies will also have an option for a 24-hour drop-off key box. If you want to explore the region and won’t be able to drop off your car at the airport, enquire with your car hire company about some of the other locations you can drop off your hired car and what fees may be involved.
  • Book your car hire at Charleroi Brussels airport at least 1 week before your trip in order to get a below-average price

These absolute thiefs did not honor my rental reservation from kayak and made me pay $400 extra in order to reserve the car. This is never happened with any other company and I will never use this company again.

Not recommended. Europacar refused to give us the car unless we hired an extra insurance. We had our credit car insurance with a broad coverage, damages to others included, but they just said that that was the law and only gave us the keys once we hire the extra insurance. That is a scam, don’t use Kayak nor Europacar.

First, at pickup, I had to pay an additional €35 for full insurance. This was not communicated beforehand when I was reserving the car. In my opinion, this is deceptive, but at the time, I had no other option because it was late, and I needed the car. Additionally, the lady at the counter mentioned that the price for basic insurance and full insurance was the same, which felt like another form of deception. When I reserved the car, I selected a VW Golf or a similar model, but she offered me an Audi A1. What’s the point of choosing a car during the reservation if she can decide which car to give me? The car return process was also poorly explained, and I faced a small issue when returning the vehicle. Moreover, the person inspecting the car claimed there was a damage, which I did not cause. He simply said, 'Don’t worry, you have full insurance.' Yet again, this felt like another attempt to take advantage of the situation. Overall, my experience with this rental company was full of small deceptions."

It was an excellent experience of car hire with Sixt. Easy collection , cleaned car , very easy to return and straightaway checked out in less than 2 minutes. There was a staff name Vincent at the drop off who was very helpful. Definitely recommend it and would love to use in future again.

KAYAK
Drop-off in Amsterdam was excellent, great service. The Associate who did the return checked the car against the photos (See below) and made the return easy and fast. Pick-up was miserable. I was told to sign a document stating the car "is in perfect condition". It was dirty, dented and the front passenger side was difficult to adjust. I was told to just take pictures and send an email, so I did. The Associate at the receiving end was outstanding.
