Pros: Gasserhof is a beautiful hotel, right in the middle of the village, but in a perfectly quiet position (the road in front is blocked for traffic and thus one can really enjoy the terrace and the nice little cosy centre). It has all facilities one may desire: swimming, fitness, saunas etc. The room that we got was beautiful, quiet and with all possible facilities, including a beautiful balcony. And last but not least, the cuisine is superb: dinner and breakfast are simply outstanding.

Cons: The soundproofing between rooms (especially ceiling). The pool closes at 7:00 PM which I felt was very early especially in the summertime. It can be a bit hard to find - I wouldn't advise travelling there by car at night given the winding roads.

Pros: Millanderhof review; I was met at Brixen station by a lovely man called Marcos! He drove me to the hotel, free of charge! I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and comfort of my room & the overall layout of the whole hotel! The lady at reception was warmly welcoming. I didn’t have a travel adapter, one of the lady’s at reception rushed around trying to find me one, which she eventually did, I really appreciated this! Breakfast: Although I did pre warn them that I was vegan when I booked, & they did assure me that they would cater to that. All they had as an alternative was Soya milk. I asked if perhaps they had some baked beans, by which time the lady serving breakfast appeared a little frustrated with me, alas, they had no baked beans! However, I did fill up on a good selection of fruits, cereals & rolls! There’s a lovely little outdoor space where one can eat breakfast, with a side view of the mountains. I’d like to add that on the last day, I had to wait 7min to be asked whether I’d like some coffee, I also had to sit at a used table as the same slightly annoyed lady from previous days failed to clean it, or put out fresh napkins ect! Bedroom noise: The hotel is on the corner of the main road that runs through the town, so during the day it can be very noisy. There’s no air conditioning in the rooms, so it can get pretty warm in the summer. However, the room was very clean and cosy, with a lovely balcony and view of the mountains! The Housekeeping lady was very sweet.

Pros: We do not have enough words to praise the staff at Hotel Elephant for helping us after we went through a very unpleasant experience. While driving on our way to the hotel, we stopped for about 15 minutes to see Lago di Carezza. While we were gone, a thief smashed the window of our rental car and stole a bag with passports, driver's licences, cell phone, credit card, itinerary, and other documents. We immediately called the hotel and Pamela at the front desk sprung into action. She called the police, the car rental company, and found the number of our embassy. When we arrived at the hotel, she guided us to a special garage to park the car, so the car would be safe until the following day. Her calm, helpful and cheerful manner were reassuring to us. The following morning, Thomas at the reception, continued the superb work, and guided us to the police station, which is only a few meters from the hotel. He then called the rental agency again, and made sure to get us the best possible solution to fix the car window, in order to drive back to Innsbruck. A big thank you to all who helped us at the hotel! The wonderful, surprising news is that a German tourist came across the stolen bag, and returned it to the police, with everything intact. Perhaps because there was no money in the bag, the documents were of no use to the thief. The police were able to contact us because the itinerary was in the bag. As to the hotel, it is lovely, the beds are comfortable, there is plenty of hot water in the shower, the restaurant is excellent and we highly recommend the Elephant Hotel.

Cons: We had a loft room and the ceiling was rather low above the bed. The room also had no AC, which wouldn't be an issue during the winter months but we stayed during the summer and the room was rather hot. The hotel only provided a small fan. For the price I was expecting AC.

Pros: We arrived by bike and received a lovely warm welcome from Monika on reception. Excellent location, with an easy walk to the old town centre. We could keep our bikes safely in the hotel courtyard. The hotel seems very chilled out and is superb for relaxing, with a pleasant outdoor area, garden and a huge parrot! The breakfast was lovely; and the complimentary afternoon tea and cakes were a super surprise - Note: Arrive before 5.30pm to make sure you don't miss this treat! Our room was comfy, overlooking the quiet street. Very good bathroom and shower.

These include the helpful people serving breakfast, the lovely staff who cleaned the room and kind thoughtful woman -who smiled so much at the reception and could not do enough to help me. It was a wonderful stay and well worth a visit to a beautiful part of the country. Hotel Traube is very well located and there is plenty of information available to help travellers decide what they would like to do. Thank you for making hotel Traube a home away from home.

Cons: We didn't like not having a shower. We had to have a bath, which took longer and difficult to wash your hair. The wifi didn't work in our room. So, had to access the internet in the public areas.

Cons: This hotel markets itself as a 4 star hotel which is not. Bathroom small with old fashioned bath and shower head - this type of set up is dangerous and it is well past time that a renovation to change should have been done. Our room was in a different building to the main hotel. We chose this hotel because of spar and pool fascilities which were at the main hotel complex 200 meters down the road. We did not use these fascilities in the end. At check out time we had to walk to the main hotel to complete. There was no 24 hour reception. Breakfast was adequate for our needs but really not 4 star or commesurate with the price. We would not not describe our stay as a bad experience but the marketing is misleading and given the solid price charged for our stay, the hotel completely underwhelmed.

Pros: Spacious room with comfortable beds. Nice balcony with a view of the park and river. Breakfast is pretty good as well. The staff was very friendly at check in and at breakfast. Very kind to let me leave my car for an extra couple of hours at the car park of the hotel so I could go for a bike ride.

Pros: This hotel was built before 1900 and it’s an old classic. The fourth generation of the family is now running the hotel. Great staff. Vera and her family do a great job and are very kind hosts. Breakfast was delicious. Brixen Card is a nice bonus. Location is great for traveling the area by train or bus. A supermarket and also a modern, fast laundromat are fairly close walking distance. Old town about a 10 minute walk.

Pros: This family run hotel is situated in the hills about 900m from the city center. The rooms are clean (spotless), as is the hotel. The breakfast included with the room rate is top notch with refillable coffee/espresso. The views from the balcony are outstanding as is the quiet.
The father runs the bar and speaks many languages, including French so I could communicate with him. He was friendly and offered to drive us to the train station on our way out of town. I don't speak any German and my Italian is minimal at best. The mom tends to everything; she is friendly and detail-oriented. The son cooks and it was stunning how delicious his food was - it's no wonder townspeople drop in for his pizza. The food service was wonderful and we plan to show the daughter and her fiance NYC when she visits this fall. Everyone attempted to communicate with us in English and they were very friendly.

Cons: It's best to have a vehicle to get you in and out of town because the curving, two-lane highway from the town is steep and not pedestrian-friendly. The distance isn't bad, it's the last 500m to the hotel from town that was concerning.
If you don't speak German, and don't expect to speak German in the south Tyrol region on Italy, you'll be surprised.
