No shower or lift to get to rooms. I have trouble with my leg & found it difficult!
Comfortable bed, really nice staff
Hotel was really great and nice staff. But it did not really have a 5 star qualify to it and felt that it may be a bit overpriced for that. Food at the place is also expensive
Room had a tiny window above head height, no view, felt like a cell. It was next door to an office and I could hear every word of the staff conversations. Not the luxury hotel I had hoped for and treated myself too. Very disappointing
I loved everything except the room. It is a stunning property in a very attractive location. Tranquil. The food was lovely. I would definitely return but not to this room.
The room. We came home shattered. The combination of the generator or boiler going all day and so close to our window, and dripping noises all night, we barely slept the second night. The cleaners, though super and discreet, had a walkway across the roof which meant they could see in. That shocked us both and put an end to having the blinds open in the room. It was my second time staying here. The first time was absolutely wonderful.
Beautiful hotel that was full of character, we particularly loved the armchairs and open fire in the lounge. The DVD library was a lovely touch. The room was spotless. The locally sourced food in the restaurant at dinner was delicious and breakfast was also good. Staff were professional and efficient although not overly warm. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and sauna but were not there long enough to test the other spa facilities.
The biggest negative was that the room was stifling hot and even after turning off the radiators and opening the windows we did not sleep well. One other small issue was that our kettle was broken and we had to report this twice before it got replaced. Also if homemade cookies on arrival are advertised, these should be provided. However I would still highly recommend!
