We expected bnb and the website said continental OR cooked breakfast was provided with every booking. But after I had paid they told us breakfast was not included after we had paid $297! Said we would have to pay extra for breakfast. The site said last booking! Only one left! But the house was empty and when we arrived there no lights on the driveway or the house, so we were about to leave and thought we should knock then someone answered the door. We did book late in the day but why say be quick lady booking! If there was no one else there? Whilst the bed was comfy there were no locks on our doors and no keys given even though I asked, and we had to potentially share a bathroom which I did not expect from a luxury price. Whilst the couple tried to be nice, I was not comfortable at all with the high price and lack of breakfast. We were trapped financially because of late booking and couldn’t change because of the penalty . Then I saw on conditions no meals included! After the money was taken! I think they need some assistance with running their systems. Not a good reflection on them nor on booking.com and not good for the customer. No key? Never had that before. It was not a luxury lodge and we didn’t get luxury treatment. False advertising. What about consumer guarantees act? Not good for tourism. We have used bnbs a lot so are experienced in them around the world. As I say, some attention support and advice to the owners and a reassessment of their service would be a good idea.
Black linen not white. No soap or shampoo .Hard towels like sandpaper.Landlords language problem.Advert said breakfast included ,but they maintained not!My Worst booking .com ever!
Paid $297 because nothing else available in Blenheim or Picton, my fault. So, this is an upstairs two bedroom BnB with a charged breakfast should you choose to order. No key to the front door so if you go out you have to knock to get back in. There is no ensuite, you walk across an open area to get to your well appointed modern bathroom. Bathroom - well, the toilet was disgusting and I had to clean the mess myself. Later at night wanted a glass of water. Found two 50 cent plastic cups in the cupboard, with toothpaste (I hope) residue in them. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room but no milk in the common fridge outside your room. Some bottled water or snacks would have been nice for $297!! Neither the bedroom or bathroom doors closed, both needed the deadbolt to be used as the normal latch was stuck on both. There's no table in the room, only a wall mounted desk, so if you want a drink or some food you make do. Small TV for the money.
Fantastic scenery! Very friendly host, room is big!
Dining in the mansion is very enjoyable and convenient, however, I expect the food to be better to match the environment and the price.
The view looking over Blenheim was beautiful. The hosts were very welcoming.
This is NOT a ‘luxury lodge’ and is poorly represented. by the 5 star rating. This is a bedroom in a private house where you do not have access to other parts. There is a small bolt on the inside of the door but no key so couldn’t lock room from outside therefore didn’t feel secure in leaving room unattended. The price paid for what was exorbitant especially without breakfast. The room was clean & large however after paying $360 for a ‘luxury’ room we encountered the following: - dead insects and cobwebs in bathroom - opened and half used complimentary toiletries - seriously offensive - bed was hard and no luxury bedding - pine bed head was supported by a piece of styrofoam to reduce damage to wall - notepad was a couple of sheets of A4 paper and even one torn in half to save money I expect - tea and coffee was presented in used coffee jar with evidence of multiple users - even though advertising use of laundry we were not shown this facility therefore uncomfortable asking to use - no emergency evacuation information or signage We have stayed at other accommodation and paid considerably less with more comfort and better facilities. Should add the only reason we stayed was because it was the only room available in Blenheim on that night! Would not recommend.
