8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Room is very basic Restaurant is below average
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Modern facility, clean room, good bed and pillows nice shower, breakfast has very good selection staff is professional. We were there for just an overnight but would recommend it for a longer stay as well.
Cons: The room we had was on the small side and the AC flow was directly on the bed. For one night was OK but for longer it would be a problem.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I visit Bayreuth for a few days, every July. I have stayed at this hotel, on several occasions, over the past few years and I believe the hotel is the best ever, this year. Staff polite and friendly, hotel so very clean and fresh. This year a "Field kitchen" had been set up, in Portacabins, in the garden, due to a flood, in the hotel main kitchen. The quality of the food and standard of cooking was excellent.
Cons: Although not the hotel's fault, we missed the garden.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff very friendly and helpful. Ideal hotel for the Festspielhaus. Prosecco reception and shuttle bus to the opera very comfortable and efficient. Particularly welcome as it was pouring with rain. Room quiet and very well appointed. Expensive but well worth it as it made the whole experience very special. Interesting town to visit. We enjoyed Wahnfried house and the museum. Lots of eateries outside on a pedestrianised street. All very pleasant.
Cons: Nothing not to like!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Good location. Secure carpark.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Spatious room, modern design, great shower. Walking distance to CBD and several points of interest.
Cons: Nothing, really.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: That they have " No Smoking Floors " yes so you do not bump into people or smell smoke anywhere on your floor level. Good breakfast. All the staff were very good, friendly and efficient. The lady at reception was very good on information, plus where to go in town etc.
Cons: Nothing
7,5 Good
Pros: Newly renovated room with latest technology
Cons: Otho got really
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Really nice hotel in a good location. Highly recommend it!
5,8 Okay
Pros: location
Cons: For years I stay there every summer in superior double room. This year was the first time they gave me a superior room with no sofa but a meaningless big bathroom, saying they always have those as superior room too!! And there is no way to get my old room, not nice

Cons: ...
6,3 Good
Pros: Room was nice. Location good.
Cons: Hotel was being renovated. Corridors were a construction site - not good.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff and location near the railway station. Best of all: we were upgraded to a suite, the like of which I have never seen! Done out in Art Deco style, it was both amazing to look at and very comfortable.
Cons: I guess breakfast could have been included, but it wasn't part of our original booking.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Central location
Cons: Nothing really
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The Cleanness of the rooms, Free minibar and lovely employees
Cons: nothing
7,0 Good
Pros: Very friendly staff. Very organised and were able to accommodate special requests.
Cons: -No air-conditioning/ keine Klimaanlage -really poor Fitnessstudio -Night staff were also very friendly but were not informed on any details or couldn’t answer questions. -Breakfast ends very early
8,3 Excellent
Pros: All was super but the best was the special offer for a free of charge breakfast for the university students whose parents stay in the hotel! Excellent marketing strategy!
Cons: No complaints
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The location can’t be beat! Right next to the train station and minutes from the main square.
Cons: The air conditioning wasn’t working, as the hotel is being partially renovated. I would’ve like to have known this before I booked my room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location right next to the train station (no train noise) and about 15 minutes on foot from the center of Bayreuth. Breakfast was as I've come to expect from Central European breakfasts: satiating, and with a variety to suit anyone.
Cons: The hotel was doing an HVAC renovation while I was there, which contributed to a bit of extra noise and dust. But that isn't something that happens every day. Minor inconvenience.
Hotel Rheingold - Bayreuth - Bedroom

9,3 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable. Well located with shuttle bus to the Festspielhaus.
Cons: No air conditioning and room very hot in arrival. Fan provided on request.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Nice room, large enough, and comfortable beds. Air conditioning, with remote control. Quiet room, 4 floor. Close to the old town.
Cons: Curtains are not efficient to darken the room; since 6 a.m. , you can read newspapers without turning on lights
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Staff were friendly and the location for the town centre was excellent. The arrangements for visiting the opera were great.
Cons: Room a bit hot, furnishing and carpets a little dated
6,8 Good
Pros: The hotel is located within easy walking distance to the old town and organizes shuttle service to the Bayreuth Wagner Opera. Great breakfast! Cleaning teams are working very efficiently, rooms are very clean and tidy.
Cons: Pillows are on the very soft side. The hotel floors and rooms are very warm and stuffy. The air-conditioning is not working properly. There are two elevators that must be among the slowest in Germany and which will force you to take the stairs unless you have a lot of time to waste waiting in the hot floors for the elevator to drop by.
7,0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great - quite copious. Location a little out of center but close, it was fine
Cons: room was spartan no room for bags etc.
7,1 Good
Pros: Good service if you are going to the Festspiele
Cons: The air conditions in the first room i was given didn’t work. The second room did.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location right next to the old city and the shopping center. The staff were energetic and super responsive.
6,3 Good
Cons: The bed was very hard....uncomfortable! otherwise I guess everything was ok.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good location close the pedestrianised area. The room was quiet and a good size. The hotel offers a shuttle to the opera which was very convenient. There were free drinks and canapés before we set off, all for €5 each which was very good value. Dinner on our return was very good.
Cons: The noise from the extractor in the bathroom was unbelievable, and we could hear everyone else’s as well overnight. The pillows were very thin but apparently different ones were available if we’d known. It was hard to fault anything else.
7,5 Good
Pros: The Rheingold was excellent. Their service is brilliant. They provide a pre-opera glass of Metternich Secco and nibbles, run special transfer services to and from the Opera House and hold dinner for all those returning on the late shuttle. The food was excellent - breakfasts and dinners.
Cons: There was a heatwave. The rooms were unbearably hot and UN-AIRCONDITIONED making the nights sweaty and sleepless. The staff provided a high speed fan but this didn't quite do the trick.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good location an easy walk from the old town. Helpful staff. They put on a drink reception before each festival performance and a bus there and back (5 euros). The restaurant stays open afterwards and is very good.
Cons: Rooms aren’t huge but they’re fine.
7,5 Good
Pros: Excellent price ratio performance, perfect for opera goers
Cons: Everything ok

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Fun for the children with soccer and basketball fields outside.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: lots of sport/recreation attractions
Cons: food
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The staff.
Cons: The cost,it is an expensive city.
7,0 Good
Pros: No the bed wasn't extra comfy! The standard was very good for a Youth Hostel, one doesn't expect opulent luxury. The price for me was high because the only rooms left had multiple beds; mine had 6, divided between 6 people the rate would have been reasonable for mid summer. I would be happy to stay there again hopefully in a single room not a dorm.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent value. Clean, in-room complete bathroom, modern. Beautiful neighborhood.
Cons: No wardrobe, lack of places where to hang clothes. No internet in rooms.
Hotel Restaurant Lohmuhle - Bayreuth - Building
8,4 Excellent (970 reviews)
R1 328+
Overview Reviews
Featuring Franconian-style rooms and a traditional restaurant, Hotel Lohmühle is situated in the centre of historic Bayreuth. Guests can also enjoy a daily breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi. Decorated in country style, the Hotel Restaurant Lohmühle’s restaurant offers hearty, regional cuisine. In warmer months, meals and drinks are served on the terrace. All of the bright rooms at the Lohmühle Hotel come equipped with cable TV, a private bathroom and a minibar. The Neues Schloss Castle and the Freimauer Freemason Museum are both less than 500 metres away from the hotel. Bayreuth Train Station can be reached in 10 minutes on foot.
7,0 Good
Pros: The location is very central, the staff friendly and the breakfast good and varied
Cons: There is no way that a guest can adjust the temperature setting in the room. We were instructed to call to have it readjusted, and we did so. This however produced no result. The hotel is an old mill, and the millstream outside made so much noise that an open window was not an option. In the morning when we got up (I can not really say woke up, because we did not sleep well) the room temperature was 24 C, far above the 18 C that we had wanted
7,0 Good
Pros: The staff is friendly. The location is within walking distance to the centre.
Cons: The last renovation was somewhere in the eighties or nineties. To me the bathroom is to old-fashioned. The shower is really a tight box, the shower is not supported well. It looks like a renovation is going on in another building, so perhaps later I can rate this hotel 4 or 5 stars.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good location on the edge of the town but easy walk into the town centre
Cons: Couldn’t get the WiFi to connect
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel with very friendly staff. Went for the Bayreuth Festival and shuttle services to and from Festspielhaus were organised by the hotel at very reasonable price. Restaurant stayed fully open for evening meals after performances even well beyond midnight on one of the occasions. Very clean and comfortable.
Cons: Loved everything about staying there
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast, quiet, good location just off the ring road
Cons: The internet connection was appalling. The management need to understand that this is as important as hot and cold running water. The en suite was so small that cat swinging was out of the question.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The place is as lovely as the photos. The rooms are fine and the restaurant closed so I cant comment on that. Good all round place.
Cons: I liked it all, but a bar to serve a beer would be nice.
5,8 Okay
Pros: I enjoyed the breakfast.... the meal... submit, the restaurant was good food and nice place. But the room was noisy, just in front of the avenue and the river; both noises at the same time. The shower was to small, and I'm not a big person
Cons: The bathroom, the mattress and the noise
8,8 Excellent
Pros: A small cozy hotel, very friendly staff, good breakfast in the atmosphere restaurant with interior of "old" hall, and good location in quite, green area with a lot of trees around. Not large room, but it's OK for one-bed room.
Cons: Nothing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This charming traditional hotel is just a few minutes by foot or by bike (which we had with us) from the main central attractions, They also have a very nice restaurant with local food and the breakfast buffet is really good, with a very large choice of sweets and savoury.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Charming. Extremely helpful staff. Delicious breakfast!
Hotel Goldener Hirsch - Bayreuth - Building
8,3 Excellent (634 reviews)

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Self parking (subject to charges) is available onsite.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was lovely, the service from all the staff was brilliant even right down to the maids saying good morning :-) I don't think there was anything I did not like, it is well located and a fantastic hotel, a few meters down the road is a great German restaurant.
Cons: I don't think there was anything I did not like. Nothing to do with the hotel, I loved the coloured eggs for breakfast they looked great but I wasn't sure how fresh they were as I thought someone must have sat there painting them or something haha :-)
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Good hotel, useful location close to central station, in 10 minutes you can walk to the city center. Spacious comfortable room.
Cons: The breakfast was OK but didn't offer that many options. One day they asked whether they could prepare eggs for me and how I wanted it, on the other days apparently they expected that I know I have to ask for this if I want it. Wifi signal was mostly OK but weaker than you find in most other places these days. No lift!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: It is an old-style hotel and sometimes it is just heartwarming to see old sinks or other appliances because it all works well, is in good condition and clean! The location is an absolute hit and this is probably the reason why the hotel charges rather high rates for the rooms. It is fine, people are nice and smiling, you are going to be ok. Also, it was quiet with a window open, since I had a room on the side of the backyard.
Cons: Well... the hairdryer is a joke! That is sth they should and could update, even in the old rooms - there is a flat screen tv, but hairdryer basically doesn't work. Why not change it? The rooms are a bit dark, but again, there are probably other rooms though.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The best hotel where I stayed. Comfortable like at home. Very friendly personal. Awesome building and staircases.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: The Manager/Host spoke excellent English and was very obliging coming out to meet us when we arrived and moving his car from the garage so that we could park in its place (we left our car there for 3 nights for a small charge). He also helped carry our considerable luggage up to our room. There was an excellent restaurant attached to the hotel and because we were hotel guests we were given a table even though they were very busy.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: It has great location and the staff is very nice..
Cons: The room was a bit dark and the furniture is old fashioned. I know they have nicer rooms
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and good parking facilities. The hotel is near the city center, which can be reached by foot in only a few minutes. The wi-fi is also very good.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and helpful. Equidistant from Festspielhaus and the historic centre. Very handy for the station.
Cons: It was quite basic: rooms, breakfast &c. But it was certainly not uncomfortable. The location is also quite noisy.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and comfortable..really nice rooms with good en-suite
Cons: Don’t think there a bar or evening meal. However having said that there a bar 3 mins walk and the German Restaurant next door is absolutely fantastic especially the steak, best one I have had in a long time (250g fillet)
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Great location
Cons: It would have been nice to have had a coffee on arrival
10,0 Excellent
Pros: comfortable beds and pillows big windows, very nice location, good food in the restaurant, room service at a reasonable price.
Cons: nothing
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Pleasant staff. Breakfast is tasty. Parking. Near by center.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfasts were excellent.
Cons: Bath towels could have been better
9,3 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at the Arvena Kongress Hotel, as I'm guessing most of the guests did, to attend a performance at the Bayreuth Festival. The hotel was perfect for that purpose, with a dedicated bus to and from the opera house. The hotel functioned very efficiently. Sleep quality was excellent, with air conditioning, and the breakfast was outstanding.
Cons: The WiFi was free but pretty anemic.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Brilliant breakfast buffet!
Cons: I’m elderly and having to step into the bath to have a shower was a little precarious. A walk in shower would have alleviated this. In the event I took showers in the excellent spa/gym.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient for Wagner Festival - 20 minute walk, or they put on shuttle buses to take you to the Festival Hall. They also have sparkling wine and some snacks before the operas, which is a nice touch. Breakfast was good, with lots of options.
Cons: It's a 25 minute walk into town, which is fine in itself, but I think if I went back to the Wagner Festival I might prefer to stay in the old town for more atmosphere.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, convenient, excellent food available when we needed it. Staff excellent
Cons: Towels poor. Decor needed freshening up
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good although the omelette chef was a little slow - not really an issue Location is great for Festspielhaus, Station and Town Centre. Hotel has a good "Wagner Festival" feel to it. Big coach transfer was a good idea
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Free parking available, and paid parking available too if you're willing to pay 6 euros for underground parking. Hotel is close to the center (10 minutes walk).
Cons: Not too much, but the lobby was a bit cluttered.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location.
Cons: The room was a little small
5,8 Okay
Pros: Good rooms
Cons: Breakfast is quite under standard. Worse than at an average youth hostel Trays aren't refilled when food is depleted, what you manage to get you get, the only coffee option seems to be black cofeee, no cappuccino etc. The waiters simply ask if you want coffee and they bring you a thermos. Tables have often incomplete cutlery, I took what I needed from the service table. There is really some work to be done. They day I left I checked under my bed least I had forgot something, It was full of dust

8,8 Excellent

Cons: some noise from outside there is a store of a forwarding agent close and they have a motor working all night long but if you keep the window closed the problem is quite solved
6,3 Good
Pros: Shuttle service to the Festival opera house
Cons: No air conditioning. No fans!
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Staff were brilliant especially Kirsten a wealth of knowledge and valuable help especially to do with the Wagner festival performances which we were there to see,the taxi to and from the festival organised was invaluable thank you rooms very comfortable and breakfast great.
Cons: Air conditioning in the bedrooms !!
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff and real good breakfast deal.
5,5 Okay
Pros: Large Room with 2 double beds perfect for family of 4
Cons: Location sucks- the hotel is located in an industrial building in the middle of nowhere
6,8 Good
Pros: Bed were good and the family room for 3 was very comfortable.
Cons: Nothing really, it fits our expectations.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The big familyroom.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was very close to the beautiful Eremitage castle park, 15 minute walk. A farther walk to old town Bayreuth (~40 min), but still very doable. Hotel is outside city, extremely quiet area. The complex includes many other facilities: bank, bistro, even a Chinese restaurant. Breakfast is good, rooms are very comfortable.
Cons: Location outside city does mean it takes a little more effort to get to (car, bus, bike, or longish walk).
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Good size of the room, fine beds and good breakfasts.
Cons: The room was extremely hot and not much possibility to change temperature.
Brauereigasthof Goldener Lowe - Bayreuth

Waldhotel Stein - Bayreuth - Building
7,1 Good (58 reviews)
R2 091+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Waldhotel Stein in Bayreuth, you'll be within a 10-minute drive of Richard Wagner Museum and Margrave's Opera House. Featured amenities include express check-in, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were remarkable big. We got there last notice at 23:00 and they were expecting us. Great location if someone wants to rest in countryside, good breakfast.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: the services, dinner after the opera, the quietness of the hotel
3,3 Mediocre
Pros: The main room, the kid´s room and the toilets are quite big. Unfortunately, not much more positive to say. I have heard / read that apparently famous politicians used to sleep in this hotel; if that is really the case, this is either many many years ago, or maybe in a completely different building from where we have been sleeping.
Cons: Room 65. The room and the building were last renovated more than 30 years ago. Furniture and windows are 70´s style (not vintage, just old). No minibar, no bottle of water, no water boiler, not even reading lights on the bed side . Several spider webs in the room showed that the room was not used nor cleaned since quite a while. Tried to contact the reception to inform them about our need to make an early check-out: nobody replied the phone and reception door was locked. The hotel is quite far from the city center, not reachable with public transportation and definitely not by bike (very steep roads - 18%). The hotel is very isolated, so you will need a taxi to go anywhere (café, shops, restaurants, ...). 160€/night for a room that would probably not qualify as 2-stars.
4,7 Okay
Pros: The location without a car was bad. I spent a lot on taxi cabs. The food was excellant and it was quiet.
5,7 Okay
Pros: Excellent service and room cleaning. Open for dinner after the opera which was essential. Enjoyed all the animals.
Cons: Very surprised by the enormity of the bill despite having used services moderately. Part seems to be the added taxes. Also no account except on paper and not calculated on modern computer facilities and printed out for credit card on departure. This helps if looking at a future stay budget.
6,3 Good
Pros: The hotel location was very nice and the room for three persons were very clean and suitable for the purpose. The food were fine; however english is not the known language in the countryside of Germany.
Cons: We choose this Hotel due to the fact that a swimmingpool was on the spot. However this pool was not heated and the water was so cold that it was impossible to stay in the water more than for a few seconds.
6,0 Good
Pros: Very spacious room in the middle of nature. We enjoyed a real 'back to the 70's' room with high quality original furniture, wall paper and decorations. Really unique. Warm hospitality from the owners/staff. We for sure come back in this non standard hotel.
Cons: What could be considered as negative: for those that really like the nowadays standard copy-paste type of Ibis-type of hotels without any personal touch or something unique to offer: don't go to this hotel. Real negative? Maybe that there was no shower curtain? (did they had shower curtains in the 60's?)
5,6 Okay
Pros: Peaceful location with great views. Spacious accommodation. Good breakfasts.
Cons: Very quiet, particularly in the evenings.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully located otel in the nature on the hill
Cons: No
4,0 Okay
Pros: Nice people
Cons: It's like staying in a farm without confort
7,2 Good
Pros: Very large room and the owner was a nice lady. They were very accomodating. The food was very good and breakfast was excellent.
Cons: Suggest that they make an indoor play facility for kids. There weren't any onsite activities; however, the hotel is located in a rural setting so we played outside (thank goodness there was no rain).
8,0 Excellent
Pros: nuremeberg toy fair
Hotel & Restaurant Poseidon - Bayreuth - Building

5,8 Okay
Pros: It was close to Maisel’s
Cons: Check in wasn’t until 1700, we got there early and nothing around there was open either. Breakfast is only from 0600 to 0601.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location, helpful people
Cons: Nothing
6,3 Good
Pros: Good beds and clean room. Close to the city centre.
Cons: The hotel is located on street where cars drive by very fast and it’s very noisy - so you can’t sleep with the window open because of the noise, and as the room has no aircon it’s impossible to get a good night’s sleep during the summer. The breakfast was poor.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Large, very clean room. Clean, spacious bathroom next door; never a wait. Helpful staff; good advice on local parking. Booked taxi for us to Festspielhaus. Edible breakfast. Easy walk to historic centre. Price was right.
Cons: Could not check in until 5 pm. Not a major issue for us, but did not know in advance. Could be a problem for those arriving early and jet-lagged. No A/C or fan in room; with window open there was a lot of street noise, even on the top floor. And church clocks chiming every fifteen minutes.
7,0 Good
Pros: The hotel was clean and in a convenient position, not far from the train station and the town centre. The buffet breakfast was generous.
Cons: The hotel is run by a (pleasant enough) Greek family who speak very little English, and not much German either. The bathroom on the third floor has to be shared between five rooms. The staff came into my room without first knocking on the door and waiting for a response. And one day there was no black tea available.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is In the center of the town and the parking place is very near the hotel. The restaurant was also excellent.
7,5 Good
Cons: Toilet and shower are in a separate room - one for 5 apartment rooms (about 15 people).
9,3 Excellent
Pros: It was clean and comfortable and good value.
Cons: Maybe the front signs could be improved a little? Our room was a little noisy from the street sounds outside.
5,0 Okay
Pros: It was central and clean. The room was very big with a small bed - they should get a double bed in there!
Cons: Breakfast finished at 9am. The room was big but the bed really small and pillow uncomfortable. The shower door was really small. The staff were helpful but disinterested.
