The pool was smaller compared to the impression get from a booking-foto - they certainly have a good photograph ;-)
The guest rooms at the Akropolis are excellent (especially, in my mind, the ones on the upper level at the back, where I and a colleague stayed). The site is an exceptional one, directly beneath the ruins of Pergamon (with the owner's or old-lady administrator's agreement, you could climb up on the roof for an unforgettable view; particularly at sunrise or sunset). The owner is a gregarious man who kindly drove us with my heavy cases full of books, to the local bus station, from where we could take one of the very numerous dolmush-minibuses to Izmir.
There was nothing to criticise about the Akropolis; it's an ideal place for a week's or few days' rest after e.g. staying in frenetic and crowded Istanbul, Izmir or Bursa. The one problem I encountered was with the restaurant of the neighbouring hotel, reached via a charming and convenient covered passageway. We were warmly received by a woman from Konstanz who appeared delighted at our being vegetarians - and that we speak her native tongue. Having first "checked" there was still food enough for us, she proceeded to provide us with mean portions of all-too-typical aubergine cooked with peppers and tomatoes. When selecting the wine we were to drink, I received no indication that the "65" we were to pay for it was in euros. All in all, we paid more than we would have had to in Berlin or even Switzerland for a far from remarkable evening meal & vin de table... Steer clear of that place, unless (maybe) you're living there. Eat your evening meal at one of the numerous nearby Turkish restaurants.
They have a lovely garden with flowers and a small blue swimming pool! Large room.
They lock the gate at night . Fortunately I knew that the hotel next door has a connecting path through their garden .
The staff was excellent - they were very helpful and even helped us to call a taxi. The location was also very good - about 5-10 minutes from the main shopping street and about 10 minutes from the funicular to reach the Acropolis
