Pros: only the lake swimming pool and lake view.

Cons: Nobody speaks English at the reception and y the restaurant. So, this us very complicated to be understood, even to organise activities and as for a towel. For a resort, it is unacceptable ! Do you really want to welcome foreigners at your hotel ? In addition, no free drinkable water available in the rooms not even 2 bottles of water for 150th night! To finish at the restaurant, fish products are overcooked and inedible! Pay attention to cooking.

Pros: the setting is really beautiful and the property is very well kept. the room itself is cozy and perfect for a couple. the bathrooms were very nice and that was a big plus! the restaurant on the property is excellent! and lastly, the staff is super helpful and very accommodating. you can book private/group tours to lencois directly on site with the staff.

Cons: wi-fi is very spotty in the public areas and doesn't work in the rooms at all. this is shame if you want to stream at night after dinner or something.

Pros: The food at the restaurant was great! The experience of working with ceramic was also enjoyed by the children.

Cons: ...that you have to communicate in Portuguese, otherwise nobody will understand you. ( 5 stars - Resort)

Pros: Staff was kind and helpful. Accomodations are great: nice and big room, comfy bed. There are two swimming pools, the place is beautiful and quite. Breakfast was very tasty and the dishes at the restaurant were great.

Pros: We had a great stay at the Porto Preguicas resort. I was there with my 8 years old and it was good to be able to enjoy the facilities after our tours (3 swimming pools, billard, baby foot, basketball game etc) and still quite fast access to the city center by taxi. Restaurant was also good with nice breakfast (fresh omelettes and tapioca) and good choice in the menu. It was great that we could continue to use the facilities on our last afternoon before heading back to Sao Luis.

Cons: Price was on the high side but likely due to public holiday.

Pros: Comfortable and spacious room. Love the spacious bathroom. Yummy restaurant on site with generous portions though it is on a higher priced side. I love the cuxá rice.

Cons: Breakfast is so so. There is no option for anyone not wanting to eat gluten-free except fruit. Unfortunately the fruits were not tasty. Most had no flavor, perhaps they were not in season. I can hear people and cars outside my building coming and going. For a busy and successful resort, staffs are surprisingly lacking in foreign languages and when they do know any of them, the level is very basic. Get armed with Google Translate. I mostly just use Portunyol and Google Map to communicate.

Pros: Facilities for family travelling with kids. The restaurant of the hotel, considering there is nowhere to have lunch or dinner in Barreirinhas, makes a difference in the stay.

Pros: Everything was very clean and confortable

Cons: A bit of a walk into town

Pros: It's a beautiful hostal in a wonderful location. The house captures the breezes coming off the nearby pond and is very comfortable. The breakfast was excelent and plentiful and the staff ( a family)was very helpful. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a place to just hang out and take it easy for a while.

Pros: Everything was great. Just the type of hostel that I like. You feel like home here. Everything seems simple and made with love. I felt very welcomed! Always ready to help, the family is ready to share their experience and make you comfortable in their home. Muito obrigada!

Pros: It’s hard to point out only a few things. Everything about this place is great. Plenty of hammocks and beautiful places to relax, the staff was incredible, the food at their bar delicious, and the rooms clean and comfortable.

Pros: Wonderful place to stay, i felt like i was at home. Hostel is in the middle of the nature and there was no denseness like other hostels.It has spacious wide open area. Cleanness is also a good point.

Pros: We had a great experience at São Jose. The staff is very attentive, breakfast is delicious and the room, although small, has everything one needs for their stay. In a place like Lençois Maranhenses, you should be out enjoying the rides, parks and lakes. The city is small and doesn't offer much. São Jose is no different, but truly welcoming and comforting after a day's activities.

Pros: The very friendly receptionist helped us with the transport to Atins and even drove us to the pickup point. There is a nice common area with a small garden. The breakfast was delicious - one of our best in Brasil. The rooms were very clean.

Cons: There was a ridiculous sign in the bathroom saying that if you wash your clothes there, you will be fined by the amount of your rooms rate (only in portuguese). In the room you can hear everything from the corridor.

Pros: The property is new or renovated. The bedroom was clean and is has a comfortable king bed, aircon, mini fridge and all the basics you wish for. It’s only 10 minutes walk from the centre. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. We definitely recommend them!

Cons: Breakfast is okay but it could be improved, as well as finish at 10am for the guests who want to rest.

Pros: Great staff. Simple facilities, but the staff is spetacular, they are the reason for our satisfaction with the venue.

Cons: The shower had little water. The only negative aspect.

Pros: Breakfast is good. Staff very helpful. AC is very useful. We booked our tours in town to Lencois and they pick you up from the hotel. They also pick you up for airport shuttle in Sao Luis for from the hostel at a fair price. Get in touch beforehand for this.

Cons: Good place. Bathroom water pressure a bit slow and sink a bit small. Otherwise not much else. Location about 10 mins into town but very safe even late at night

Pros: Helpful staff, helped me book my tours to the Lencois. The room was comfortable, includes a/c. Good breakfast included too! Was also able to get some laundry done.

Cons: Rooms aren't cleaned daily, but that's ok!

Cons: Air conditioner and minibar (can be disabled) are kind loud, therefore if you are bothered with sounds, I will not advise this one.

Pros: The pool was nice for the kids. We loved being surrounded by Brazilians only. The are really nice and easygoing fellow hotel guests.

Cons: The walls are super thin. We had a bit of a youth camp feeling, which some may find charming and others may hate.

Pros: The room was clean, the bed was good, there was shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom. I forgot my smartwatch there and was able to retrieve it a few days later.

Cons: The door to the varanda didn’t lock and I was in the first ground. Breakfast ending at 10am in a resort like place, I think it should end later.

Cons: WiFi not working, poor housekeeping, overpriced everything, and far from the center of town. The facility itself is beautiful but not worth the money. Do yourself a favor and stay at one of the many cheap pousadas in town and use the savings for extras tours, food, shopping. This is what we plan to do on our next trip to Barreirnhas.

Pros: The pool with the swim up bar was nice after a whole day of tours. The rooms were big and spacious. Our bed was comfortable. Nice pier restaurant on the river with nice pizzas. Great views. Lots of options for breakfast.

Cons: This was definitely not a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very old and unclean. The sofa was very stained and we didn’t sit on it! The shower still had hairs on the walls when we arrived from previous guests. The pool was nice but the floats and sun beds had mould on (some of them) and could really use an update. The hotel could use a complete renovation! The WiFi was very slow/not working most of the time. Better signal outside of the hotel and in the sand dunes than at the hotel! The staff were rude and unhelpful most of the time. Check in was not friendly. The tour centre (one of the reasons we booked it) was useless. He sat on his phone while we waited to be served. Then refused to serve us because he didn’t speak English. We speak some Portuguese but he refused anyway so in the end we used a tour company from outside the hotel. When asked if we could pay for pool snacks at check out, staff said it was fine but then this was followed by hassling of reception staff both at 11:30pm at night and 7:30am in the morning!

Pros: Staff is very helpfull, they dont speak english but do all thir best to undestand you and solve your problem. In fact they organized for us transfer to Jericoacoara at good price, what was not so easy for us, because in Barreirinhas you can hardly find somebody speaking english so sometimes fell little bit powerless. Pousada looks even better than in pictures, location is wonderfull - it is in a calm green place but close to the city center, 10 min walk distance. Bungalows are nice and clean.

Pros: Basic but very clean and nice hotel in a beautiful garden. Value for the money was perfect. parking direct at the hotel easy and safe. extrem helpful and friendly staff. They do not speak English but with google translate it was perfect to communicate with them.

Pros: The garden is very beautiful with a lot of flowers. It was great to spend some time on the terrace after a long day in the desert. The rooms are quite big and relatively clean. The Pousada is located 15 minutes walk from the main street with all the restaurants. We had amazing activities organised by the staff.

Cons: The bathroom is very small compared to the size of the room. Breakfast could have been of better quality. The price of the activities can vary from one person to an other. Do not stress to be on time you will always leave late...

Pros: The Area und also the cottages were beautiful! Just like a dream. Also the service staff have been really kind. Especially the owner of this Pousada was a great help. He organised the trips and provided all information we needed about the shuttle back to sao luis und what to do in Barreirinhas. Because of the language problem (we don't speak Portuguese) he was our saviour (we had the conversations in English). The best Hotel so far!!!!

Pros: The breakfast was incredible with fresh fruit, bolo, tapioca, ovos (eggs) cafe and sucos. The staff were really helpful and arranged all our trips and our transfer on to Jericoacora. The rooms were spacious with a hammock out front and a lovely garden.

Cons: The location was a bit far to walk to the main part of town but it's easy and cheap to get a taxi and the staff will call for you. The rooms are quite dark.

Pros: The staff is incredibly gently and very helpful even if they do not speak English. The Pousada is very clean and the rooms are surrounded by a beautiful and well kept garden. The breakfast is delicious with home baked cakes! We booked 2 tours with them and they were well organized (don’t miss the day trip to Atins!)

Pros: this pousada is very charming. Staff is very efficient and the room is very clean. the breakfast had many things and they are delicious. Everything was fine.

Cons: there were some frogs because of the river and I didn´t know about it. despite of this, nothing to complain.

Pros: We found everything as we expected, or even better! Besides the breakfast, the hotel served lunch and dinner as optionals, which was very convenient. The staff was very helpful and polite.

Pros: Breakfast was okay, the pousada was simple and everything you really actually need in Barrerinhas, especially when you are not likely to spend much time in the room anyways. The aircon in the room was great and the hammocks for each room are a nice touch.

Cons: The bathroom was not very clean, just a lot of humidity and moisture leading to mould. The bed sheet did not fit the bed so my husband and I had to keep on adjusting the sheet so we didn't have to touch the old gross mattress. The double bed was two single beds put together so we couldn't snuggle at night as it was too uncomfortable.

Pros: Spacious room, balcony, friendly staff, good breakfast and good shower and airconditioning. Easy walk to restaurants area but deserted road to the entrance.

Cons: Didn't feel clean. Fan didn't work. Mosquitos in the room. Not much help with getting to our next destination.

Pros: it’s relatively far from the center, in a residential (not happening, no restaurants/markets) area. this can be positive or not. bathroom was constantly wet. i didn’t like the owner’s attitude towards tours. later, seeing how he handled them with fellow guests at the house, i was happy i got mine from elsewhere (besides, it was cheaper).

Cons: there’s a small private beach on the back of the house. you’re staying at local people’s house and it has a very cosy feeling (can use the kitchen). breakfast is great (bread, spread, cream cheese, papaya, fresh fruit juice, cake, milk, ovaltine or powdered chocolate, coffee...). rooms are bright and airy, ceiling fan is enough unless you’re in the lower bunk bed.

Pros: This is a typical home stay hostel. The room is clean and confortable. Alexandra and his wife Ana are both kind host. Alex arranged everything for my Lençois trip, but the communication with Lençois hostel had something wrong. And there are no people understand English, even don't understand Spanish, even they don't know how to type correct words in Portugués... so I cannot use google translator...finally I had a beautiful trip in Lençois. And Ana cooked dinner for me when I came back. Anyway this was a funny trip with a cute local family.

Pros: Simple Pousada with a very Beautiful Garden. Pousada and room in a quiet place where you can stay on your own. Seperate Terasse and hammock.

Cons: Did Not feel welcome. After brasilien Holiday everybody disappeared incl. Manager. Breakfast as additional option for 20 re has been mentioned in the e-mail before. Though everybody else received some, they where surprised that we liked some in the morning. Second day anyway everybody was gone and kitchen locked. Helps if you speak portiguese.

Pros: The location is in the centre, very safe. House keeping came every day and the food/breakfast was always fresh. Hot water and good power shower!

Pros: Wonderful B&B on the riverside, short walk into town, excellent facilities with a nice pool and even a small gym! Restaurant was fantastic, and staff were so helpful and friendly. You can book all your tours and trips here as well. Good wifi, clean and modern. Lovely!

I asked twice days for one towel more and they didn’t give me.. if you are looking for an hotel to sleep only one night in a simple simple hotel room ok but if you want an hotel to rest more night I recommend you another one. we’ve been disappointed.
