The Breakfast exceeded my expectation. Food and coffee was delicious. I want to give the Breakfast staff a special "Thank you" for how the food was prepared and displayed. Awesome hotel staff.
The staff very nice
The pillows too soft
Very friendly staff. Got upgraded - room small but had a lovely balcony. Only 10 minutes walk from main area
There are so many good things to say about the Areos but what made it outstanding was the staff. Usually I prepare thoroughly before going on a trip to a new place - guidebooks, websites and so on - but on this occasion I did not and so asked for information and suggestions form the reception staff. They were extremely helpful , giving recommendations for restaurants nearby and how to get around the city and how to get to the beaches. When we left they booked us a taxi to a station on the line to the airport so that we would not have to change. They always had time for our questions and were exceptionally professional and friendly. They all spoke very good English. Our room was a "small double" but it was much larger than rooms in many hotels we have stayed in. It was perfectly clean, the bed was comfortable and although it was on the road side of the building we were not disturbed by traffic at all. There were plenty of lights so reading at night was not a problem. There was a fridge with a couple of bottles of water provided. The bathroom was a decent size and had a good shower. It had a large wash basin and a plug that worked - not something that can be assumed in Southern Europe. There was no safe in the room reception was happy to keep some important documents for us. The hotel is not in the busiest tourist area and so by walking round the area we got a feel for the "real" Athens. The nearest metro station is Victoria which is a ten minute walk away. Breakfast in the hotel was adequate but not outstanding - the only thing about the Areos that I would categorise as merely "good". Curiously there was no fresh milk, only yoghurt for the cereal and German-style cartons of processed milk for the coffee. Perhaps this is a Greek thing.
The only problem with our trip to Athens was nothing to do with the hotel. I had my wallet stolen on the metro coming from the airport to the hotel. Dealing with this took quite some time and rather spoilt the holiday. I hope all travellers reading this will take extra care of their belongings on the metro. When we went to the tourist police we found that many other visitors had had similar experiences.
Areos is a quite typical city hotel. The good thing is that they don`t have any obvious weakness or problems. The staff really good and customer friendly, the interior of the room also very well, in particular, I like the bathroom. WiFi works well. So, I can recommend this place as good value for money.
1. The breakfast is really modest. 2. The location is also rather average - about 10 min from the metro station by walk. 3. in spite of the booking with free cancellation and payment at the property, the hotel charged my card for the 1 day immediately after booking confirmation. It is only the third time in my life when the hotel acts in such a manner. Then they say that they just validated the card - apparently standard EUR1 transaction doesn`t seem them as a sufficient for such purpose. 4. my request for the silent room was ignored. I was provided by the room on the 2 floor with the windows on the street.
A stay at Areos Hotel places you in the heart of Athens, within a 15-minute walk of National Archaeological Museum of Athens and Omonia Square. Featured amenities include complimentary wired Internet access, a 24-hour business center, and express check-in.
