The tram stop is right outside the hotel, it’s only a couple of stops to Dam square which was really handy. We rented bikes on the sunnier days and could cycle into the centre in about 10 minutes. The rooms are always clean and the beds are comfy. I love the aesthetic in CityHub as it’s not like anywhere else we have stayed.
We have stayed in CityHub 5 times now, we always stay here when we visit Amsterdam and have never had an issue before with previous staff. On this occasion when we checked in we were assigned a room with a broken lock on the door and could not get into the room with our wristbands. The first time we consulted the staff member at the front desk she said to just try it again and made a comment like “I thought you stayed here before you should know how to open the door” which came across passive aggressive as if we were disturbing her from something. So we tried again and the door still would not unlock. We asked her to come with us down to the room so we could show her that it would not work and she tried with her wristband and it still didn’t work. She told us that this particular room was on a list to be repaired. We asked that we swap to a different room as we could not get the door to open and she told us it would not be possible to swap as they are fully booked and she had allowed us to check in 5 minutes early when we arrived so “we should be grateful”. She said it would be inconsiderate to other guests that someone else would then have to stay in that room (I don’t know how or where they would sleep since the door wouldn’t open). This made us quite annoyed and frustrated as we had paid just under €500 for a 4 night stay and are loyal guests to CityHub. Why should we be expected to stay in a room with a faulty door and be considerate to other guest? Surely CityHub should not have allowed this room to be booked out to guests as it was faulty and like the staff member said it needed repairing and was down on the list for the repairs team to look at. We insisted that our room was changed and were made to feel guilty and as if it was our fault that another guest would get that room. For the remainder of our stay there was an awkward atmosphere and we will probably look elsewhere for accommodation the next time we visit the city.
- Friendly staff - Well located - It was nice to have everything centralised through the wristband - Bar reasonably priced - Dedicated app to help customers 24/7. We tried it and it works.
Overall comment: This hotel is not for all tastes. You really have to like the concept of being in a tiny cubicle. - Temperature cannot be regulated. I`d rather prefer to be able to control the temperature of the room than the colour of lights - It makes little sense to put bluetooth speakers in the bed in a room where you are meant to be just to sleep. We had to ask our cubicle neighbours to stop the music in order to be able to sleep (which they kindly did with an apology) - I`m OK with sharing baths, but for the price I paid I believe that those should be cleaner. - At the time of booking the description was "shared bath", and "shower". It turned out that the shower was also shared. I find this rather confusing. - You have literally no room to organise your luggage inside the cubicle. Many people (including us) had to do it in the common area lacking privacy - Cubicle area is not well ventilated.
The staff were excellent, very friendly and great with local tips.
The bathroom could be a bit cleaner
Clean, cool concept with cashless payments and was very easy to use (bar, coffee, snacks etc). Spacious and comfortable bed with duvet and nice room temperature, showers were really good (good pressure).
A bit noisy with doors banging if you're in the front hubs.
Really good location , close to everything , clean and friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again
