A big hotel that the staff shrink to fit and made our stay very personal. A kind and thoughtful welcome, good breakfast and a check that all was well... it doesn’t take much but the reception are not going through a company induced welcome speech, they are just helpful, kind and considerate.
The property was fantastic, a scottish castle with everything going for it. The food was great and the setting was amazing.
Our first room - the heating was not turned on and so was freezing and the shower overflowed the shower tray and we were moved. Second room - the shower never got passed tepid even though there was hot water to the sink tap.... There was a lack of staff to help us move rooms (the least I would have expected) and there was not enough bar/waiting staff..... Showstring management does not work in a place of such grandeur!
Absolutely gorgeous hotel, felt like I was living in a real fairytale. The interior was beautifully decorated for Christmas, and they had the fireplaces going all day, which was a nice touch to come into on a very cold day. Staff was friendly, and the room was very spacious and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again!
It's not super close to the city of Aberdeen. You have to either drive or take a cab to reach the city center. Not a problem, as the cabs were pretty inexpensive, but just a note worth mentioning.
All good and very pleased with the whole experience.
Very busy weekend, struggled to find a parking space.
Very good food
