The Wailea Canyon water park offers 9 outdoor swimming pools connected by a lazy river and features a water elevator, water slides, waterfalls, caves, children’s pool, sand beach and a swim-up bar. Really poor value for money - this is NOT a Waldorf Astoria or a luxury hotel in anything but name. It is a motel 6 with a water park - rude staff, completely ignored customers - they even removed the sunscreen etc they used to have by the pools that ALL the other hotels in the area still do - talk about low budget. When you pull up - no one is there to help with bags etc. We unloaded and rolled them in on our own (at around noon) - they used to have people welcome with leis etc - all gone. Basically a waterpark with overpriced lodging - the only saving grace is the rooms seem to have been renovated and had fresh carpets etc (which were sticky and dirty the last time we visited).

Cons:The pool staff was exceptionally poor. Aggressive. Rude. I’ve been to this hotel at least 6 times. Previous visits were all superb. Only having the Bistro open for dinner. As no the overall quality of the food was truly sad. The physical plant needs a facelift

Pros:40 acre parcel of land with the best water park... lazy river, rope swing, water slides, beach... absolutely amazing!
Cons:Price and MULTIPLE NUMEROUS EXTRA fees at check in that weren’t disclosed on the initial reservation

Pros:Napua Club amenities are great which includes a continental breakfast and afternoon hor d'oeuvres among other things. The concierge was very friendly and helpful, and nearly all the staff was warm and friendly.
Cons:The resort is massive and takes awhile to walk between shops, food, pool, and beach. The pool-side chair is first come first serve and is INCREDIBLY popular so it’s very difficult to get a chair. The Napua Club rooms have a great view, but the downside is if you have light sleeping little ones then the live music playing until 9pm can be clearly heard through the room door. Also, the walls are fairly thin: we heard the neighbors alarm and TV too clearly and either made it hard to sleep or we woke up with them.

Pros:Pools and beach were amazing. Grounds were very well maintained.
Cons:Prices were OUTRAGEOUS for food and drinks. Hotel starting to feel dated -colors, furniture, building structure... Regular rooms are small for the $$ being spent. Breakfast service was terrible. Need more activities that are included.

Pros:Location. The view. The beautiful park like gardens. The bathroom was very nice.
Cons:The hotel messed up our booking. The famous water elevator didn't work. Cleaning happened very late and one day only after asking. The doors so are thin that everyone walking by sounds like they're inside the room. Too few pool chairs. 7 waterslides - 5 of them are a joke. The coffee shop has a pathetic supply of goods. The gym is average.

Pros:Landscaping and Christmas decorations were done well; bell hop, valet, housekeeping, and restaurant staff were very pleasant.
Cons:The environment was very busy (family groups and children were the major customers, resulting in lots of little ones running about the resort). It's not a very relaxing atmosphere for folks looking for a quiet getaway from the busy aspects of everyday life. Attention to cleanliness was subpar to expectations (missing tissue box; (not requested) playpen was present in box on floor in main room; balcony rails had dirt residue throughout; light switches were dirty for misaligned--due for replacement). We asked valet to retrieve our vehicle, but valet staff did not alert us of our car's arrival resulting in a 15-min wait until we finally asked what had taken so long. Greeting staff in lobby failed to provide lei to my fellow traveller upon her arrival despite it being a customary practice for all guests.
