the hotel walls were very thin, all the noise from the other rooms reverberated into ours. I could listen to everything they were saying and doing. Very anoying. I do not recomend this hotel.
The location was excellent in relation to where I wanted to be. It is relatively close to a metro station and there are plenty of shops and restuarants nearby. I booked a single room and was quite surprised to see the size of the bed - it was much larger than I was expecting, a small double. It was fairly comfortable although the duvet was definately quite old and well worn, but it was clean. I appreciated the tv. It was the cheapest hotel I found in the 14th arrondissement.
The room was unbearably hot at night and I could see no way to turn the radiator off - a radiator which spent the entire night making loud glugging/dripping noises and made it near impossible to sleep. The security is poor as well - you need to leave your key there and get it back simply by saying your room number. The keys are very clearly on display so anyone could just wander in, choose a number at random and gain access to your room. Even something small such as needing to show a card or something to get your key back would increase security by so much, this system is really just inexcusable.
The hotel was fine for the price I paid, and reasonably close to Montparnasse station
The staff. When I arrived back at the hotel at 10pm, I asked if I could print my bording pass for my flight the next day. He said I could do it the next day. When I asked the girl the next day, she was so unhelpful and wouldn't let me email or borrow her USB so I could print. As a result, I ended up missing my flight because I didn't have the boarding pass printed. Really unhappy with unhelpful the staff were. Also they were useless at giving advice about the public transport
clean and quiet.

I loved that Hotel du Maine was close to the Eifel tower and a lovely street of restaurants
I didnt like the shower head. I would prefer a hanging shower head. The shower/tub was very clean.
