Pros: The hotel is located 3-4 blocks from the center. It was perfect for my trip. I could make morning excursions and come back and rest before going back out. The staff was super attentive and helpful. A great place to stay in the city.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Felt like home! Staff were lovely and treated us like family. In the historic district, a few blocks from Parque Calderón. Absilutely no complaints.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Incredible place. The kindest staff you will ever meet. Edwin and Rene were warm, kind, gave wonderful advice and information, and were genuinely so happy to help us! The owner is fantastic and so invested in the guests. The woman who serves breakfast is so gracious and warm, and served fantastic food. Compared to typical hotels which rely on sterile modernism and an empty sense of professionalism, this colonial hotel was a beacon of warmth and wellness. A paragon of hospitality, a homecoming away from home.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Amazing, amazing, amazing. Best hotel I have stayed in my entire holiday. Amazing staff, great rooms with loads of character and comfortable beds and so quiet considering where it is. Breakfast is delicious. The owner is also brilliant.
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The old world charm, amazing staff, incredible owner, and awesome location. The staff and owner were extremely helpful in facilitating whatever you wanted to accomplish everyday. They treated us like family, and honored guests.
Cons: Potentially noisy if trying to sleep in, or get to bed early, and one is a light sleeper. However, guest and staff respected the hours between 10 pm and 7:30 am. My wife and i had no problems with this issue, but be aware.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything was great. Breakfast was delicious. The room was comfortable, clean and very quiet. The hotel was a historic building that had been modernized in a beautiful way. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9,6
Pros: The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to find restaurants for us and book the tours we wanted. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and there was lots of hot water in the shower. The location is excellent. Just a short walk to the old city center.
Cons: There are no windows to the outside; only to the inner courtyard.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff. Alberto, the owner, was very welcoming. The hotel has been beautifully restored. The breakfasts are delicious - something different every day.
Excellent 9,6
Pros: We got a room upgrade, which was already a good start :-) The room we got was very spacious, small bathroom, but good facilities, and good working shower. The hotel looks really nice and the people are very friendly and helpful, speaking good English. The breakfast was superb! Every morning a different delicious breakfast. From the hotel, you just walk two blocks and you’re at the main park/square by the big cathedral.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The owner Alberto Ordóñez went out of his way to help me with suggestions of things to do and see , where to eat . He treated me like family !
Cons: Nothing !

Pros: I love my room. The bed was very confort. I love to find rose petals on the bed and in the bathroom!! Breackfast is delicious!! The meals are great.
Cons: I like everything
Okay 4,2
Pros: The driver that picked me up at Guayaquil airport was extremely educated and well informed. The receptionist gave me good tips for visiting the city.
Cons: The driver came to pick me up 2 hours later from the airport because the property didnt read my email on time. In addition, the staff that attended me at the restaurant during breakfast was disrespectful and didnt served me the wrong breakfast.
Excellent 8,3
Pros: It’s in the heart of Cuenca, the hotel is beautiful and the staff makes you feel like home.
Cons: The beds weren’t that comfortable for the price you pay. The food wasn’t that good either, they don’t have 24 hrs room service. I reached 7pm very hungry and there was only sandwiches on the menu.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Beautiful property, excellent staff, wonderful restaurant. We also enjoyed tea time and the live piano player
Cons: All good
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Beautiful property, housed in 19th century mansion right in the heart of the historic center; tastefully decorated, lobby is spectacular; beautiful atrium garden; room decorated with antiques, and definite attention to detail; bed is comfortable, nice shower
Cons: Bathroom was a little cramped, room was on the small side
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We love the beauty of the hotel, privacy, they close the main door at certain hour so it feels like home. Staff was super servicial. Food, environment, facility, everything was class A.
Cons: Some pieces of wood tile in our room were squeaky ( noisy ) when you stepped but we understood since it is an old property ( an old family house )
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I travel the world in my job. I am top status with Marriott and second to top with IHG. And, I also stay in boutique hotels occasionally. This hotel is fantastic! At the top of my list. Stay here.
Cons: The room was a bit cool at night but I would stay here again in a heartbeat:
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The maison itself - Belle Époque experience; staff was fantastic; VERY good gourmet restaurant
Cons: Water flow in the bathroom was slow (esp for hot water)
Excellent 10,0
Pros: There are many great hotels, but I suspect in not many the staff will help you find a doctor, when you get sick (as I did), take you to a hospital, and act as interpreters.

Excellent 9,6
Pros: The breakfast was wonderful and the restaurant had an amazing view. The hotel was very centrally located and it was easy to walk everywhere.
Cons: I did not like that our room was all the way at the bottom. There were cats crying loudly one night right outside our door.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Excellent hotel. Everything was great and great staff.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Breakfast was delicious. We were served a platter of fruit, yoghurt, muesli and some fresh fruit juice. As well we received warm bread rolls with butter and jam. We were then served our choice of eggs and one meat. Yummy! Our room was just beautiful! We had a sitting room as well as a beautiful balcony overlooking the river. We strongly recommend Rosa- who was marvellous!!
Excellent 9,5
Pros: The place is very nice with a lot of character great location and an exceptional food served both for breakfast and in the restaurant. Staff was very available and assisted me with calling a doctor, ordering medications and more so I cannot stress how welcome we felt.
Cons: I was not allowed to check out later than the regualar 12h00. As my flight was only at 18h and was travelling with a small baby I found it a nuisance and not the best treatment.
Excellent 9,6
Pros: The location was fantastic, close to many museums, cafes and restaurants and a short walk to Park Calderon and best of all overlooking the Tomebamba River and backing onto the park and bicycle/walking path. My room faced the river and had a wall of glass, proving a beautiful view. The hotel also has a beautiful restaurant where breakfast is served. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Cons: My room needed better bedside lighting. Nearly impossible to read. Also, my room was a double and the closet was tiny, not big enough to put even a carry on bag. I travelled alone so it wasn’t a problem but this room would have been very cramped with luggage for two people.
Good 6,3
Pros: The staff at breakfast were lovely. The food was good. Most of the staff throughout were lovely. The garden outside our room was beautiful.
Cons: Our room was a tiny dark room. One of the beds had to be slanted in order to close the door. The lighting was atrocious. The lamp beside the bed had to be unplugged (no switch) to turn on/off; this made it impossible to get up in the dark. The room was cold and dank.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything. I don’t remember the name of one of the waiters at the restaurant, but he is an asset to the restaurant. I told him not to retire because the restaurant will never be the same: great service!
Good 7,5
Pros: The hotel is really nice with a lot of details and the dining room is very nice with the garden view!
Cons: I had problems with the comfort of the bed!
Excellent 9,2
Cons: Breakfast with few options.

Cons: Nothing

Pros: Very friendly staff. Great location. The Suites are wonderful.
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I really loved this hotel and I would return there in future travels. The house is very elegant, charming, very well located, great service, the breakfast is really good, the views from the balconies are very lovely and the rooms very confortable. We can easily access the important spots in this beautiful city. I highly recommend it to anyone that appreciates tradition and style.
Cons: Nothing at all
Excellent 9,6
Pros: The hotel was so beautiful! The inner courtyard with fountain and tables to read or eat was charming. The dining room was beautiful with a large skylight and gorgeous indoor plants. The staff was incredibly helpful, kind and polite. Breakfast had multiple delicious options. We chose to eat in the restaurant for dinner a couple nights and the food and service was incredible; a delicious modern take on Ecuadorian food using local responsible resources. We loved that it was a short walk to the Plaza del Flores, Modern Art Museum and other downtown attractions.
Cons: I wish the beds were a bit softer, honestly, that is it!
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Great staff. Good breakfast and a great restaurant (La caleta).
Cons: That it was only one night
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Great location, welcoming staff and fabulous restaurant in the hotel
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Quaintness, cleanliness and rustic environment
Good 7,9
Pros: Good location, atmospheric/historic decor in public spaces, manager went out of his way to help us get to the next town, and graciously acknowledged that our stay was affected by two large and loud groups that filled the hotel. Room was very clean and bathroom was modern.
Cons: There was nowhere comfortable in the hotel to sit. The room was cramped and basic like a monastery. One hard wooden chair, one thin pillow, the only trash can was the toilet paper can. All other areas in he hotel had hard wooden chairs or iron benches. The historic nature of the place means that the sound carries, and even normal voices bounce off the walls, so a friendly gathering can keep guests from resting. The manager was the only staff with English, which made things very complicated for our trip to Ingapirca, when we got misleading information and missed the bus. The breakfasts were adequate, but not as good as other hotels on our trip, and usually pretty picked over by the time we got there.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The hotel was close to everything, clean and beautiful, the mattresses was very comfortable and the best part was the staff, they were always ready to help as....they made our stay unforgettable and we will return very soon. In my opinion this is the best hotel in Cuenca.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Very friendly and helpful team. Very beautiful building in good location for all sights/restaurants etc. We booked the suite which is large and overlooks street through two large windows. Slightly odd that the shower is in corner of bedroom with separate WC - but no big deal. Room is beautifully decorated and spacious and there are several drawing rooms with comfortable sofas to make the place even more special - and great places to sit and relax during afternoon down pours! Superb , and cheap, laundry - reasonably priced drinks.
Cons: This is not something we experienced but it looks as if some of the other rooms only have windows opening onto the inner balconies - so might be worth checking if you don’t book the suite.

Pros: This is a nice hotel in the heart of the historical centre within walking distance from all places of interest. It is located in a renovated old colonial house with a restaurant in the central courtyard where standard breakfast is served.
Cons: There was not nothing really negative to mention
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Beautifully decorated interior, pool, breakfast, air conditioning and excelente service .
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The room was huge! The location is great!
Cons: The food. The food. The food.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: It was great to have a place we could prepare food if we wanted. Breakfast was delicious. The staff were very helpful.
Cons: Noise traveled easily in the home, not much that could be done I don't think, it's just the way these homes are set up.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Great location, very nice hotel, big and very comfortable room, great choice.
Cons: Breakfast could be better.
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Big comfortable beds, quiet Room facing the Garden, Very Good breakfast
Excellent 8,8
Pros: Hotel is beautiful, clean and is in he best location
Cons: Even the hotel has great... my experience with the staff is something that the hotel has to work on. The staff was very friendly with the foreigner guests, however as ecuadorian I had he same expectations, but it was not... when I requested the backyard bar to spend the afternoon after they say yes, they decided to close it for clean it and we couldn’t use it. During the breakfast time, the staff was very alert about foreigners needs, and they did not realize that we did not have cups and napkins in our table... and when I asked for it... they were very rude asking me my room number and days of stay. I felt discrimination to the ecuadorian guests, even we were a group of 7, and we paid the same price. Interestingly I live in the US, but at the time of the registration I used my address from Ecuador, without expecting that this could change my experience.
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Its well situated in the historic center, walking distance from comercial and historic attractions, the staff was very welcoming and helpful, the room was nice and comfortable. the bathroom seem new and clean. It had nice inside garden for the kids to move a little and adults to seat. My family had a great time.
Cons: the room had tub in the middle, and my youngest (1 year old) insisted to get in and finally got all wet (also wanted to go up the stairs making me very nervous). (Though no trouble with my 3 year old)
Good 6,7
Pros: Location
Cons: The rooms are dated and feels old /tired
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Beautiful facility and loved the courtyard. Manuel, a bellhop, was very helpful and cheerful.
Cons: Breakfast could be improved-not very good hot food. Felt the hotel clerk was trying to guide us to places that were not that good (for meals)

Pros: The location is excellent with many churches, restaurants in walking distance. The second floor lounge was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Only issue was noise but still highly recommend the facility.
Cons: Somewhat noisy. Room was small but lounge area very comfortable.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: This gorgeous place exceeded my expectations! Our room was perfect-good size, balcony, great view, very comfortable! The location was perfect and the common areas were so cute and cozy! Staff was wonderful!
Cons: Nothing! Everything was great!
Excellent 9,7
Pros: Breakfast was nice. Staff are personable
Cons: There should be an option for "Do not disturb" or "No cleaning necessary", in order to be more economical and ecological
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Great location in the old part of town just within a few blocks of everything. The building is a personality onto its own. I loved the original wood beamed ceilings. The staff could not have been more kind and helpful.
Cons: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ everything was great! Even the toilet flush was nice.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: The hotel was located 5 minutes away from Parque Calderon. The staff was very professional and helped us whenever we needed.
Cons: The room was very dark, with no possibility of opening the window.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The location was very central to the area; the hotel was stunning; the beds comfortable; the bath towels thick; we were exhausted when we arrived and directed to a take out pizza spot; and even though we left before breakfast hours we were still able to get coffee/tea and rolls.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Lots of charm in this hotel and great welcome Excellent breakfast
Cons: Tiny bathroom Noisy street
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Excellent value in a lovely older property. Decent breakfast and free tea and coffee during the day. Well furnished room with desk and plenty of storage. Friendly staff.
Cons: All good.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Very beautiful hotel located in the city center. Rooms are spacious & clean.
Cons: The breakfast could feature some more options. When arriving by car it should be clearly mentioned that the parking lot belonging to the hotel is located 3 blocks and 5 minutes walk away. Additionally, the parking lot address should be communicated before arrival as there are no parking opportunities at the hotel and only high-traffic one way roads in Cuenca centre. Knowing where we need to go in advance would have saved us half an hour.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Absolutely gorgeous building and stunning common spaces. The breakfast was fantastic, the room had all the essentials, and the showers were hot!
Cons: Nothing negative, it was all great!
Excellent 10,0

Pros: Everyone at the front desk was very helpful and easy to communicate with. Vitor, the day manager at the Reception went out of his way to help us with tour bookings. The building itself is quite attractive.
Cons: Absolutely no complaints. It was a good stay.

Good 6,7
Pros: Beautiful building, good breakfast included.
Cons: The room was small for the price, with a small bed and poky bathroom. The water coming from the shower couldn’t maintain a consistently warm temperature and was either scalding or cold - it constantly needed adjusting. Staff were generally disinterested and disengaged. Really disappointing.
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Great atmosphere, beautiful building, great living room and good Location.
Cons: Because it is a historic building it can be a bit noisy. The warm water temperature of the shower fluctuates a lot.

Pros: The location worked well for me and the staff was always available and 110% helpful.
Excellent 8,8
Pros: Comfortable bed, great shower and very good location. Filtered water was a plus.
Cons: Breakfast could have more options. Also, the room service one day didn’t really clean properly (the room wasn’t very dirty though).
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The staff was above and beyond attentive! They helped with everything from retrieving my laundry even though the lavanderia was closed to lending me a pass so I could get around on the city bus. The beautiful historic building is exquisitely restored and decorated with pieces by local artists. The rooftop patio offers a view of the cityscape and the surrounding mountains. If you want to have a luxury travel experience, I advise you stay at Los Balcones!
Cons: Because the building is old, the walls are a little thin.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Beautiful hotel and room. The ultimate shower and an excellent breakfast. Staff were extremely helpful. Loved every minute of our stay.

Pros: The charm and social atmosphere of Posada del Angel cannot be exceeded. Our family of 5 enjoyed it immensely.
Cons: a bit on the noisy side
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Friendly staff Beautiful hotel
Cons: Difficulty paying by credit card at the hotel checkout. Noproblem using VISA IN THERESTAURANT.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Spacious rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff.
Cons: The bed wasn’t the most comfortable and was very creaky. The hostal attracts an older crowd so if you’re looking for young vibes this isn’t the place, but was very quiet.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Friendly and knowledgeable staff and delicious breakfasts in a beautifully maintained Spanish colonial mansion. In addition, Jose the driver recommended by the hotel, took us to Gualaceo and Chordeleg for a day trip and he was courteous and knowledgeable too. A memorable stay for sure!
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Center of the city, free breakfast, clean and perfect
Cons: Walls are thin and you can hear everything, including traffic passing by at 3am
Excellent 9,6
Pros: This hotel was recommended by a friend who lived in Cuenca. It was very nice and seemed to cater to international guests. The staff spoke english and helped us to carry our bags up to the 2nd floor. The breakfast was very good (typical for the country, eggs to order with toast, fruit salad, fresh fruit juice, coffee, tea, yogurt, etc.) While we did not eat at the restaurant it came very highly recommended.
Cons: There was no air-conditioning in the room which would normally be fine in Cuenca, but the windows to the room opened up to the court yard/passageway so privacy while trying to cool the room down was limited.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: My room was right after the place they serve breakfast, so a little noisy when someone wanted to chat during the early coffee (but was cheaper, and I always take earplugs, not a real problem).
Cons: Beautiful building and very friendly staff. The location is just a few minutes from the main square. Nice room and comfortable bed.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Quaint and clean, staff was very helpful, great dinner recommendations!
Excellent 9,6
Cons: A little pricey, but a great place to stay.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: The building is beautiful and everyone working there is very helpful. The Italian restaurant downstairs is top-notch and the breakfast is pretty good. The prices are very fair and the location is perfect for walking around the city, without being too noisy.
Cons: We stayed in two different rooms, and the one on the third floor had weak WiFi and didn't have much water pressure or hot water. It's hard to get up and down those stairs. Like most options in Cuenca, it's an old building, which provides loads of charm but not much privacy.

Pros: It’s a lovely old hotel with beautiful common areas to enjoy. The staff were very nice and helpful, and my room was spacious and comfortable.
Cons: My room though spacious was a little dark and the bath/shower had some issues - no bath taps so had to fill with shower which was a little tricky with the layout. Also, nearly slipped over in the bath/shower as the glass screen was set in place and so had to hop in the top end which was sloped. Had a lucky save as could’ve easily taken the glass screen down with me, which could’ve been disastrous. Hope they fix it as very dangerous.

Pros: Very nice
Cons: Nothing

Pros: This is such a nice hotel and we enjoyed it so much.. would easily recommend to other travelers. The location is excellent, just a couple of blocks from everything - the new cathedral, Plaza San Francisco, Mercado diez Agosto, etc. The building itself is an old mansion and is simply beautiful... very grand and well decorated, the interior could be featured in Architectural Digest. Rooms are very large and we really appreciated the many seating areas throughout the first and second floors. It’s also very quiet, as all rooms are away from the street. Lastly, the staff is super lovely.. very responsive from the moment we made our booking, very caring throughout our stay, always ensuring everything is OK, and very nice and kind in every interaction (we especially appreciated the care from Andrea, who helped us from check-in to check-out) Great hotel and would easily recommend
Cons: Todo bien
Excellent 8,3
Pros: I had a good experience about the service, i was about to miss my flight and i called in reception and to prepare my bill. I had only half n hr for the flight. When i reached what i saw, was they were ready with the bill and luggage and all my belongings from my room. It was so kind of the staff and their service which helped in catching my flight fortunately. I was thinking of sharing this , as i was very happy after seeing their service Also they don't have AC in room, still its cool due to its wooden structure.
Cons: Bathrooms need to have more good facility. Elevators needed.

Pros: We loved the ambience of the hotel, all the staff were great (they went out of their way to help), breakfast was yummy. Nothing we didn't like.
Cons: No parking immediately in front of hotel, but we didn't find it a problem.

Pros: The place is charming and well located. The staff was so friendly and helpful, it made our trip. Thanks to Andrea's, at the front desk, and Marcis, in the breakfast room. Much as gracias

Pros: The hotel is spotless and very comfortable, however the staff is the best asset to this hotel. Fantastic people and great customer service.
Cons: The just need a little work on the noise reduction for the wooden floors.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The friendly & helpful staff. Trying local dishes for breakfast. Free tea and coffee whenever you wanted - welcome after a day visiting. The decoration and layout of the inside of the hotel. The location in the centre of town. Leaving our bags after checkout wasn’t a problem.
Cons: Nothing at all!

Excellent 10,0
Pros: Beautiful hotel in a great location. Very easy to walk around from that location. All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Andrea was especially helpful in giving recommendations, making reservations, coordinating tours and just helping me out since my Spanish is very poor. Breakfast was good with nice variety of offerings. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay there again .

Pros: The breakfast was always varied & really well prepared. Staff could not have been more helpful, great people. Very professional & helpful.
Excellent 8,8
Pros: Hotel was clean and staff were very friendly. Check-in and check-out process were very easy. Comparing to other hotels we had stayed, breakfast was average. It has a variety of items to satisfy everyone; the bread was the most memorable.
Cons: It's no really a dislike...more of a convenient. The hotel was a 10-15 min walk from center of town. Given our tight schedules, it would have been better if we were a bit closer to the hotel. However, the taxi rides were very reasonable. Note that the hotel is pretty basic with no other amenities (i.e. pool, gym, etc.), but we wouldn't have time to use it anyway. It may a consideration for those looking to relax.
Good 6,3
Pros: The staff were very friendly and the room was clean.
Cons: I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room did not look like the online pictures. The bed was very hard and uncomfortable. For the price, there are better options. Also, this hotel is not located in a safe area.
