Travelers intending to mainly explore the city of Warsaw should opt for a compact car that can fit through the narrow lanes and into parking spots easily. If venturing out into the landscape, an SUV or minivan are also good choices. A 4-wheel drive car is a good option in the winter or when planning to drive mainly through the countryside.
Always adhere to the speed limits posted on street signs. General regulations allow 50 kph (31 mph) in residential areas, but only 20 (12 mph) in school areas and zones with lots of pedestrian traffic. On express roads (which usually have one to two lanes going in one direction), 100 to 110 kph is allowed (62-68 mph) and highways allow up to 130 kph (80 mph).
Despite having narrow lanes, some streets in Warsaw have very broad sidewalks on which smaller cars can be parked half on the sidewalk, half on the road. These parking lots, however, are always indicated with a sign, so check beforehand if this is really a designated parking spot. Parking is usually metered and coins or cards can be used to feed the machine. Alternatively, there are parking lots or P+Rs like the Park and Ride Car Park Metro Ursynów in the suburbs of Warsaw, where cars can be parked for a longer period of time.

Cons:
HORRIBLE experience. showed up and they wouldn't give me a car without an international drivers license. said it was clearly stated in the rental agreement. it was not. also lied and said it was illegal to drive in Poland as an American without an int. license. That said, they still offered to let me (illegally?) have the car if I paid the full insurance rate through sixt of $42 per day which would raise the price of my rental $600. screw off. total scam. had to pay cancellation fee and first three days of rental. criminal. went across to helpful gentlemen at Europcar and rented a car at the onsite, no reservation, inevitably high price that was still cheaper than what Sixt wanted to charge me. they laughed and said they didn't know about any requirement for international drivers license in Poland but wished us a pleasant stay. Poland was delightful. Sixt was garbage. I will never rent from them anywhere, ever. Also will dissuade anyone from using them.2,0 Poor

Pros:
Nothing, I did not get the BMW. Car without insurance, cost $480. They offered me insurance for another $650. I did not want to pay the insurance. If I see the car , it has more damages then was reported. I did not take the car and I lost my $480, in 20 minutes. If you want to loose money go to SixtCons:
Take a look closely to your competitors. Next door I got a similar car for $400 with insurance. I was responsibility only up to $800. Not 100% like at Sixt. Sixt trying sell me the same insurance for another $650. At competition I got it included in the car price!!!!2,0 Poor

Pros:
The car itself was driving nice.Cons:
The staff at Sixt in Warsaw is trained to sell more extras to increase the price of the rental. I had a prepaid deal for 12 days. I was told I need to buy extra insurance otherwise they will not give me the car. My rental literally more then doubled and instead of $275 Euro i paid $619 Euro.3 locations in Warsaw

Cons:
I paid for automatic; got a manual transmission car. The front desk - uniquely unfriendly - lacking serious customer service, basic communication skills, required International Drivers license. We did not have it, so they charged us additional 25o dollars for the duration of the rental. This is just beyond awful. I have never had this kind of negative experience.3 locations in Warsaw
