Choose a compact or mid-size car when opting for car hire in Managua, for they are appropriate choices for navigating through the narrow city streets. These vehicles are typically simpler to drive and park in congested areas. Meanwhile, given the variable road conditions, a car with good ground clearance can make it easier for you to maneuver around obstacles like potholes and uneven surfaces. It is particularly important if you want to travel outside the city. Managua's climate can be humid and hot, so having a vehicle with working air conditioning is recommended for a pleasant driving experience.
When opting for your car hire in Managua, the speed limits are typically expressed in kilometres per hour (km/h). The posted speed limit in residential areas generally is 40 km/h (25 mph). The purpose of this limit is to protect the well-being of residents and pedestrians. The speed limit on city streets is typically 60 km/h (37 mph). Depending on the specific road and signage, the speed limit on highways or expressways outside of cities can range from 80 km/h (50 mph) to 100 km/h (62 mph).
You can choose from a few parking options in this city. These include shopping centre car parks, hotel car parks, private car parks, street car parks and public parking garages. Expect to pay roughly 10 NIO (0.2 GBP) to 40 NIO (0.85 GBP) to park your Managua hire car per hour.

Pros:
Stuff and all was outstanding.Cons:
The insurance that is offered by the third party makes no since because when you pick up the vehicle they make you take their insurance or else they won’t rent you the car. So don’t offer the third party insurance.9,2 Wonderful

Pros:
Service was quick and easy.Cons:
Due to police harassment of tourists, identifying them by the rental decal on the car and personal appearance, I turned in my car after one day, rather than keeping it for my entire 10-day visit. I was stopped for no reason within 2 miles of the airport the day I rented the car. I was able to persuade the officer not to ticket me, pleading that I had only picked up the car five minutes before (he claimed I had "illegally changed lanes," a favorite, unproveable local police charge). I confirmed later that day with local friends that police harassment in search of bribes was now rampant in the country. I returned the car as soon as possible and plan never again to rent a car in Nicaragua.9,6 Wonderful

Pros:
Got a good deal through kayak on a pick up truck. Everything went flawlessly while taking delivery. They had received my reservation through kayak and had all info correct. We went over different insurance plans. I got the second to highest out of personal preference. Truck was in good shape aesthetically. Tires were about 60% but still more than enough for off-roading. Truck was clean all around with 18,000km. We went over spare tire and tools and we marked tiny scratches here and there and I was on my way. Truck performed flawlessly over off-road terrain and at highway speeds. If possible, get either the Hilux or Prado as they are both equally well suited for Nica. Had absolutely zero issues at drop off.Cons:
Front driver side turn signal bulb was out and i didn’t notice until I had hit the road. Keep in mind that obligatory insurance is not included in kayak price. But still a good deal.5,6 Fair

Cons:
Took forever to get our car. Then they forced us into paying $14 a day for added insurance. I had called my auto insurance and credit company and was well aware that we didn't need it and that if we got added insurance they wouldn't cover a thing. Yet, they wouldn't let us rent the car without adding that. So the price I thought I'd pay for two weeks was going to be great.... After all that we ended up paying quite a lot! Really frustrating! Then the "economy car" was pretty much a mini car. ;/ Could have been the country we were in, but they could have spelled these things out much more clearly so we'd know what we really owed when we got there. One location in Managua

Ace charged me $89 for 3/4 a tank of gas, and nearly caused me to miss my flight.2,0 Poor
Feb 2018
Pros:
Do not be fooled by the price shown. ace makes you a buy some “mandatory” insurance adding almost 16 bucks a day. This despite buying the insurance offered by Kayak. And good luck getting any help from Kayak. Do not recommend at all! Rent from the company directly. And definitely not from ACe.Cons:

-It took 2 hours with the ''representative in training'' to have the car -The ''insurance'' available on KAYAK is not good in Nicaragua, you have to take one from the renting company, so don't pay 70$ for nothing. Overall experience was not good.8,8 Very Good
Feb 2017
Pros:
Car was fine, a little beat up but that actually made me less nervous driving around. The guy at the desk did me a solid by helping out when my reservation came through wrong.Cons:
I showed up solo to Nicaragua only to find out my rental (which through kayak had been listed as "at airport" was, in fact, in the center of Managua and therefore not accessible. Luckily the gentleman at Alamo had pity on me and honored my reservation. But I was almost in a very tough spot. Once the reservation glitch was overcome, I had no issues whatsoever. The service was excellent and everyone clearly wanted todo the most they could to ensure I had a great experience. I would use Alamo again without hesitation here in Nica!8,0 Very Good

I got to Managua and went to the Alamo counter in the airport. I had reserved an automatic car and all they had were manuals. I had to cancel my reservation and spend the next hour and a half trying to find an automatic car. I won't use Kayak again for an international rental car.10,0 Wonderful

Didn't have to pay extra for all the dings driving in Nicaragua. Pretty cheap rental for 2 weeks.Cons:
The fact that the price on the National site did not reflect the extra $12/day I had to pay for obligatory "no fault" insurance. Thus doubling the cost for the rental period.4 locations in Managua
