They did not have our prepaid car available. Original reservation was for a 4x4 suv. I knew we would arrive late so I called customer service # on our reservation, they said no problem, it’s prepaid, you have 24 hours. When we arrived with our kids late at night after traveling all day, no car and no offer for alternative. Just a shrug. We begged for any vehicle because we were stranded. They gave us a Citroen that got stuck in the snow and we could t get their roadside assistance to help us. Next day, we returned the Citroen and found another hertz with the 4x4 that was on our original reservation and they gave it to us for 3x the original booking fee. We were charged for two full reservations for two cars and now have to deal with sorting out this out. HORRIBLE customer service. We will NEVER use hertz again.

We were a day late for a two week rental and the car was completely given away, so we didn’t get our rental car at all and was told a refund was not an option. We just wanted the remaining 13 days that we paid for.
Despite having forwarded a deposit of $445 on our rental vehicle, Hertz gave our car away to another customer, had no replacement, and claimed they did not have our money (they did). This created a cascade of unfortunate events and inconvenience, plus a substantial increase in cost. They very nearly ruined our trip! We plan to seek compensation for our angst and trouble.
