drop off was easy, the rest of the experience was not good!!!

Cons:

make it more known that you are going to be closed at noon on a SATURDAY and not open on SUNDAY Some people can only travel on those days, honor the price agreed on, at a different location if not going to be open an the other location, and quit gouging people on the price, (prices were outrageous)

Disappointing. The car broke down on the side of the highway 3.5 hours into a 14 hour drive. The roadside assistance department couldn’t come up with a solution any sooner than 6 hours of waiting on the roadside. I self-rescued and after securing a refund, Avis customer service did nothing to make up for the fact that their primary charter of renting a safe reliable car failed and had no compassion or interest in making up for the inconvenience and delays.

Pros:

We asked specifically for a car that seated 8 and we got a car that seated 7. There were no cars that seated 8 so someone had to ride illegally and unsafe the entire trip.

Cons:

The lady that helped at Pickup was not helpful on instructing drop off after hours. The car stunk. And giving people the amount of seating they request is pretty vital.

Staff at the counter were very friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Our car's lift gate was not working properly. It would open and then shut. We were not going to ruin our vacation by taking it back to Budget to let them take time out of our vacation to fix. Thankful someone did not get hurt. Car needed to be checked over before releasing it to customers.

Cons:

The Budget rep forced me to “upgrade” at the ticket counter since I was dropping the car in another location. (That was known when I placed the reservation.) She tried to get us to pay more for car I reserved or more for an upgraded car. I declined. She then said I had to pay for XM radio at $6 per day or the car I reserved couldn’t leave the lot. I was tired from traveling so we just swallowed it. When we got to the car, it had been smoked in, damaged on the body, and had 56k miles at the start.

Passenger van

I had a reservation for a 15 passenger van for a bachelorette trip on September 5th-9th at your VPS airport location. When we arrived we were given keys to a minivan not realizing until we went to the vehicle that it was not what we originally reserved. We went back to speak with your representative and was told that the van we reserved was in maintenance and was not available. The representative did offer to void our reservation but left 10 people with their luggage stranded without offering another vehicle or maybe offering 2 vehicles for us to be able to continue our trip. We had to scramble to find new transportation and it put a damper on the start of our trip. It was a horrible experience with your company. We ended up having to pay double the money with another company in order to proceed. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Dollar did fine except when I rented the vehicle (large, 8-passenger van) I attempted to add drivers, but the rental clerk (very busy!) said it was not possible. Something about not on my original rental request. That caused me personal problems during the week. The vehicle I got was clean and comfortable, and had pretty decent leg space for my passengers.

The rental was not clean and even had ants… We dropped it off early. Additionally, even though we dropped it off the same day the reservation has not been closed out, so we are getting daily pending changes on our credit card (currently on day 4 of this madness).

I didn't like anything. You guys should be ashamed. A death in the family prevented us from taking our trip....not that anyone in your organization cares. Phone numbers provided went unanswered when dialed...then disconnected. You're only mandate appears to be making money at the expense of customers and making sure they get a total runaround when trying to salvage a horrific personal tragedy. Way to go Kayak. You made a couple hundred bucks on this one and you didn't even have to provide a service...way to go! I shall never use Kayak, or Hertz again for anything, and neither will my large extended family. I will implore as many people as I can influence not to use you.

My travel day was being continuously delayed and I was unable to meet my group at the airport to drive them to our destination. I tried contacting both Hertz and the third party provider and both kept saying there was nothing they could do to help, so we needed to call the other. When trying to get ahold of the local Hertz location, I called multiple times and sat with the phone ringing for 5+ minutes each time; all being different times of day. When I asked them about it, they said they must have been busy.
