Standard SUV

KAYAK
When I went to pick up the car it was FILTHY. It was also out of washer fluid and the next scheduled maintenance (oil change) was supposed to happen about 250 miles into my trip. The staff was very nice and helpful even when I called corporate to complain about the state of the car. This was our second booking with Avis in less than a month and it was the second time they seriously let us down. We won’t be using Avis again.

Intermediate SUV

I booked a Nissan Rouge fir 10 days. I received an email confirming my reservation. When we called the next day to let them know we'd be late, they said we were going to call you and cancel you as we don't have a mid sized SUV. Then I was made to feel it was my fault that they didn't have the SUV as they are very hard to come by and just because I booked it doesn't mean I'll get it. Apatently, I booked it in too short of notice, and since there are only 2 guys running the Lee's Summit area, my expectations were unreasonable. They did offer a mid sized sedan,but I declined as I wanted a mid sized SUV. I ended up canceling my reservation but they still charged me for insurance and damage protection. Now I have to dispute the charges. What a mess.

The fact that I specifically reserved a tesla and was given a Volvo c40 with less range than a Tesla made my rental very inconvenient.

The car was in rough shape; the fender was falling off during our trip. We had to upgrade and pay an extra $25 per day for a banged up car. I didn't get a good deal with Hertz.

The location was convenient to my house. The staff was discourteous and seemed to try hard to find anything additional they could charge for.

Cons:

Hertz needs to have dedicated staff to clean vehicles, not making their office staff do double duty with cleaning cars and running the rental counter. Employee there seemed extremely stress, couldn't blame him. Also, car I rented was not clean inside or out. Had to clean it myself. Extremely long wait times to pick up and drop off.
