Pros:

The moke was a perfect car for riding around the island. Good on gas! All in all it did the job! It was fun, it was like driving a gokart on a track with the narrow roads!

Cons:

When we got the car it said it was full on gas. By the time we got up to our villa and turned it on the next morning, it was on empty. We thought there might be something wrong with the fuel gage but we made it to a gas station and filled it up with $20US and it lasted our two week stay with over half a tank still left! It didn't have a radio and was definitely an older run down version of the other ones we spotted on the island.

Very courteous and caring staff from start of rental, during the rental and end of the rental; those go car rentals agents in Barbados are excellent.

Staff cared for me as if I was there family. I left my phone in the car when I retuned. Realized at the check in counter for my flight. As I headed back to the office I met them coming to look for me with it.

The first car that was brought to me had a soft front right tire that lost more air during the visual inspection. I prefer the gas tank is full when I pick up the car and I’ll return it full. This car was received with the expectation That it was 5/8th full and return it 5/8 full. Not an easy task The car I was rented has visible structural damage to it- I was told at pick up- I would be charged for any scratches to hub caps- does that mean I now own the hub cap or is this a cash grab.

Pros:

Thrifty rental was excellent. Super easy pick up and drop off at the airport. The roads in Barbados are the narrowest I've encountered in any country. Overgrown with bushes. You often have to pull over and let the other cars pass, or vice versa. Cars came late to this island. Road maintenance is the worst I've seen and that includes South America and former communist Europe.

Could not find Europcar at airport. Turns out they have a local partner, Ansa Rentals, but the confirmation email made no mention of this. After I asked around, someone representing Ansa who was sitting on a bench told me he handles Europcar rentals there. However, they did not have a car available, even though it was the time of my reservation. He called someone to try to get a car, and we waited for about 15 minutes, until he got a call back. He said they found a car that would be available a few hours later, but they could deliver it to me, so we took public transit back to my hotel. They did deliver the car to the hotel. It would have been much better if a) Europcar had sent me an email when I booked, explaining this would be Ansa Rentals and how to find their representative at the airport, and b) if they were actually expecting me and had a car ready for me on time. Or, if they had offered in advance to deliver the car to my hotel, and given a contact number.
