Rip Off Tyre Insurance Scam

Pros: The Car was a good Specification, and well presented.

Cons: I did not like the long winded narrative given by the Branch Manager on Pick - up of the car. Basically we went around the car with a "Damage" Meter and noted the flaws and previous scratches and dings. A lot of Time and effort was put in to inform me about Tyres and Tyre safety, and that this was the main cause for Damage Claims in the Company. After explaining this, I was then told for £16 per day I could make the £1000 I would need to pay for any Damage go away, in fact, we didn't even need to go back in to sign, it would come off my Deposit. She then told me she had already taken £1000 from someone that very morning. I declined, but when I returned the car 5 days later, one of the other girls from the Depot spotted a small Nick, approximately 3mm square from across the car park, and said I had damaged the tyre, and it would have to be replaced. This "Damage" was so small, it would have been impossible to see if the wheel was in a position where this tiny nick was at the bottom. I was told that this kind of damage happens all the time, and that a small stone from the road could cause it. I have been driving for 38 years, and never known such a thing. The Claim is now in the hands of their "Claims" Department, and i am awaiting contact from them.
