Pros: How was the location must be a joke lol. Resting between these two pitons, sugar beach has some of the most marvelous views you’ll ever experience. Not to mention that the service is impeccable.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The nature aspect of it. I felt I was lost in paradise
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Excellent food, view and amenities.
Cons: Staff was somewhat disorganized in responding to our requests. It often took 2-3 calls to get staff to send ice to the room or confirm our covid testing so we could return to the US.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Breakfast was the best meal of the day. They could use more simpler food choices for lunch and dinner. We really enjoyed the sushi bar. Nicest staff I’ve ever experienced at any resort. They couldn’t do enough for me.
Cons: Limited food choices at lunch and dinner. Would have liked some simpler fare.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: The staff went above and beyond!
Cons: It sometimes took a while at the ‘rush hours’ around dinner and breakfast to get shuttles
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The beachfront bungalow was one of the most spectacular rooms we've ever stayed in! Everything from the lighting, to the beachfront access to the heated pool was beautiful! Our butlers were so helpful and attentive, they really added to the experience! Offsite excursions didn't open up until our second to last day on the island but our room was so relaxing and luxe that it wasn't really a big deal. I recommend this room to any expecting mothers looking to visit the resort. We were within walking distance from everything but the gym.
Cons: Limited dining choices due to Covid (French influenced cuisine at the restaurants on the property). Also, menus had limited choices which wasn't pregnancy cravings friendly. We had plans of eating at other restaurants/resorts but were unable to because of the hotel not encouraging mingling with other guests off the property.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Amazing staff. Delicious meals. Excellent location between the pitons
Cons: Food prices are off the chart.

Pros: Top notch hospitality, from driver who picked us from airport to private butler. All staff very courteous and ready to help. So considerate that the executive chef Velario, came down to the beach to inform us that he has found “halal” meat for us and will be cooking anything we like!!! Many thanks all of Jade mountain and Ane Chastanet staff in creating beautiful memories 😀
Cons: Can’t fault anything actually.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I love the privacy of the sanctuary. The pool and the whole room was perfect .the staff were amazing .the birds and sounds of nature made me sleep like a baby .Its like heaven on earth
Cons: Absolutely nothing
Excellent 10,0
Pros: This property was absolutely breathtaking. The views were unrivaled. The staff was so nice and personable. The property boosted every amenity you could possible need. The Major Domo (Butler) was so attentive. This property is definitely geared toward couples. Such an amazing opportunity to reconnect and celebrate Love. This property was worth every single coin. The property looks exactly like the photos.
Cons: Absolutely no complaints about this property. Only thing I would have wanted was a floating breakfast to dine in the pool. Side note: a bumpy ride to reach the top of the mountain to get to the property. 1hr drive from airport (UVF).
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Absolutely beautiful
Cons: Nothing we loved everything about it
Excellent 10,0
Pros: It was the vacation dreams are made of; nothing short of perfection.

amazing every thing was just amazing
Excellent 10,0
The beauty and uniqueness of the rooms is even more spectacular in person which photos can not capture this properly. The architecture is exceptional, almost all the rooms have their own infinity pool, with the fourth wall open to expose you to the stunning views of the ocean and the pitons. We had one of the galaxy sanctuaries which have one of the best views of the pitons and were huge in size. We didn't have to leave the sanctuary, you could swim, sun tan, and eat anytime we wanted. We even went swimming at night time after dinner in our massive infinity pool. Restaurant staff were all fantastic. We had lovely dinners at the restaurant and had drinks and cigars on the rooftop bar and watched the stars. It was so beautiful. Our major domo Davidson was excellent. He was happy to help us with anything we required and more. We were disappointed when he left us after a few days (his days off) and the second major domo who took care of us was not as attentive but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Would recommend coming here 100%. I would return again and again.

Pros: Views were amazing and the room was perfect.
Cons: Overcharged for things like an 8$ bottle of water. Half the staff wasn’t very helpful.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Ladera absolutely exceeded our expectations. They were so accommodating and friendly. The view was so gorgeous, and the food was delicious. We would absolutely stay here again!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The views on this resort are simply amazing. There is nothing like it. You will be amazed by the views and the breeze. The pools in the room are great and give you a lot of privacy.
Cons: The food on the resort was subpar and not consistent. We opted out of the all-inclusive package for meals and drinks and I am glad that we did. I read a lot of reviews before picking this resort and most of the reviews said the food was good. It was not. Breakfast is included with the price but there are certain things on the menu that are an upcharge, which to me defeats an all-inclusive. On top of that, the wait at dinner on average was 2 hours. There was no night we went to dinner and the wait was less than two hours from start to finish. Apparently, the resort has several chefs and it shows. This would be my only complaint about the resort.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: The view, heated pool, the restaurant!!!
Cons: Cleanliness for the bed and sheets could have been much better.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Location, view, neatness , great staff and nice people
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9,0
Pros: We loved everything from the arrival and transportation to resort and the people who made sure we enjoyed our stay and was taking care of. The view was breath taken and the food and drinks were great.
Cons: The only problem we had was: the bugs and the heat but because you only have 3 walls it was expected but the bed net didn’t helped like they said it would. So next time we will bring our own spray with hopes that it will eliminate us being bit so bad. The fan in bedroom didn’t really keep us cool because it’s location above the bed and the net blocked any good flow of air.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Eco friendly, nice surroundings , friendly staff.
Cons: Dining services were extremely slow, slower than other Caribbean destination. Although staff were friendly, it took a very long time to bring the food orders to the table.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Location
Cons: The bugs
Okay 5,0
Pros: View.
Cons: We were eaten alive. Bring a lot of bug spray.

My husband and I recently visited Ladera in December for our wedding anniversary. While the weather was a little disappointing, Ladera did not disappoint. We stayed in Paradise Ridge and had a beautiful suite. The open-air sleeping was very romantic. The staff at Ladera from top to bottom, were amazing, especially our butlers, Schol and Keisha. Anything we wanted, they made it happen. They even brought breakfast to us even though we failed to put our requests out the night before. We did have one unfortunate incident in Dasheen, which can happen anywhere, but everyone went out of their way to make it right, especially Keisha. We loved the island and will go back again, but probably in later winter. We did the volcano/mud bath excursion and it was awesome. I doubt there's a much better view than you will get at Ladera. It was a very unique vacation. I highly recommend it to everyone.
Excellent 10,0
Soufriere is the best part of St. Lucia. It has the most beautiful landscape and most interesting things to do. And Ladera Resort probably has the best location among the handful of high end resorts in the Soufriere area. Ladera occupies a ridge above and between the two Pitons. Jade Mountain has better views of the open ocean but Ladera has the best, most interesting view overall. It's a bit of a rustic place with open air, loft style rooms and four poster beds with mosquito netting. We had mosquitoes in our room during the first evening we were there but none after that. When mosquitoes were present, the mosquito netting was highly effective. Close your luggage because birds come in during the day in search of food and to peck at interesting looking things. The staff at Ladera are lovely, as are the people of St. Lucia in general. The resort has a shuttle to take you down to Sugar Beach, a charming small beach between the two Pitons. From there, you can take boats to other parts of St. Lucia. The restaurant on site, Dasheen, is good but not spectacular and the service is very slow. A better choice is the Boucan Restaurant at the Hotel Chocolate just across the street from Ladera. Both the restaurant and the hotel at Hotel Chocolate are more sophisticated than Ladera but they don't have the views. You will not be disappointed with Ladera, think of it has high end camping in one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We spent the first night of our honeymoon last week with Ladera and it was amazing. The views can't be beat. You can't go to St. Lucia and not experience the views from Ladera first hand.

Excellent 9,0
Pros: amazing views from restaurant and infinity pool
Cons: some of food was spoilt by overuse of chocolate
Good 7,0
Pros: Everything about the resort is awesome. The staff is especially phenomenal!
Cons: There were only 2 things we didn't like about the resort. 1. The price. Everywhere on this island is expensive, but compared to the other resorts, this one was a little pricey for the resort and the amenities we received. Everything at this hotel had a little bit more of an upcharge than all the other resorts we seen. 2. THE CONSTRUCTION! We ended up moving to a different resort for the remainder of our vacation because the resort was under construction. I totally understand they are adding onto their resort, which is awesome. I also understand them staying open during renovations. However it was extremely loud from 8am to 5pm, every day. We went to to Rabot Hotel for the peace and tranquility, and the constant construction noise took away from that.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Amazing staff
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I love everything about this place. Calm and Peace.
Mediocre 3,0
Pros: The restaurant is amazing. As is the view from the restaurant and “pool” area
Cons: It needs to be clear on the website that there is no ac and no bug nets. For the price of the hotel, that is unacceptable. Also, given the early lockdown protocol and Sunday lockdown it’s a hard sell that for the price it’s not on the beach. Their prices should have been much cheaper for what they are offering.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: very quiet, lovely balcony’s on our Lux lodge. amazing views, great staff & wonderful food.
Cons: slight construction noise when sat on our balcony, but nothing terrible & didn’t spoil our stay. The works are due to be completed by mid November so not an ongoing problem.
Good 7,0
Pros: Beautiful hotel, amazing views and unique experience. Breakfast was extremely good, especially after staying at two different properties before this it felt like an upgrade. Cocktails are also great and much better than those offered at other properties. The staff was nice, special thanks to Shona who was always helpful. Room was large, clean and very nice. I do enjoy the outdoor experience, however this leads to having mosquitos all over the place. I had initially booked for 2 days but due to the covid regulations I couldn't stay at a fourth property during my stay in St Lucia and extended my stay here. I would not recommend staying longer than 2-3 days.
Cons: What I didn't like is purely based on the fact that I had stayed too many nights at the property. Otherwise for a short trip it's a perfect place. First of all I think it's very pricey for what it is, I stayed at 5 star resorts/hotels that were almost half the price of this place and offered better service. It is a unique experience, but still.. Activities - there was no shuttle to the beach that's 10min away, but they could arrange a taxi for $20 one way. In general all their activities were extremely expensive, I had stayed at two different locations in the northern part of the island and their prices were cheaper than the ones at Chocolat, which is next to all the activities. Antigen test I had to pay for, again something that the previous properties had offered for free. Food - the food menu gets very boring and having everything with chocolate starts to feel gimmicky after a while. I am vegetarian and the few options that were on the menu were very bland and boring. However, I must give credits to the chefs who made different dishes for me once I brought this up. Wifi - it's a place where you shouldn't be on the internet, but I had work duties and it was impossible to stay connected for more than 5min. There are many networks around the property and all have the same issue. Room - the room was great, however the mosquitos were impossible. I attract mosquitos and unfortunately didn't have one night of proper sleep. They provide repellent but it did not work for me, they would still make it somehow through the net around the bed and the electric zapper helped but I was on a hunt all night long...
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The location of this hotel is just beyond stunning; there are few places in the world with such incredible views and such sublime surroundings. The staff are also second to none, Alpha, Antonio and Chris specifically from the bar/kitchen team are a real credit to this hotel!
Cons: I wouldn't waste your money on the spa, we felt the quality of the treatments just wasn't anywhere near up to scratch! Also be careful with the rooms when booking through booking.com as the pictures don't show the massive difference between the standard rooms and the premium rooms.
Excellent 10,0
We visited St. Lucia and stayed 4 nights at Boucan. It was incredibly delightful from the moment we arrived. We stayed in a Luxe lodge which was amazing. The view, room, amenities are all personal and wonderful. We felt like we were in a luxurious tree house. The rooms and hotel have no a/c and no television and are open aired to nature. It was beautiful and serene. The decor is sleek, minimalist and inviting. The staff were welcoming, warm and super helpful! We hiked to the near by volcano and mud bath/springs, we walked across the street to Ladera for dinner and drinks; and used the hotel transportation (short car and boat ride) to make beach trips. The hotel also organized a nearby zip lining adventure for us which we loved! The evening truffles in our room, and refilling of water and drinks was especially helpful and made traveling easy. The hotel has a nice pool area to relax and a good restaurant if you don't want to leave the premise. The cacao plantation tour was wonderful too.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Best shower ever! Great view from room. Infinity pool was amazing. Great friendly staff. Top notch food. They have 2 boats for guests.
Cons: WiFi reception wasn't very good in the Luxe rooms. They don't sell their own chocolate :(

Pros: Setting and tranquility. Individuality, Amazing staff who were always happy to help. We felt very safe which is important at the moment. Everything was well organised without being overly intrusive. Normally we like to travel independently wherever we are on holiday, but realising that it would probably not be possible at the moment we chose Anse Chastanet as we had visited before and knew it was somewhere we could happily spend a couple of weeks.
Cons: For us nothing.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Beach is amazing, best snorkelling in the carribean right off the beach. The water sports facilities are great and are included in your stay. Food is really good here too, a little pricey (as per the carribean). Staff are mostly really attentive and helpful. Our room was upgraded to a hillside Deluxe, which was amazing, I’d definitely book this type of room next time! There’s also a shuttle that runs upon request and will take you up and down the resort as the steps to the beach can be a little exhausting. The resort offers lots of excursions and trips - we did the sunset cruise on the SuziQ sailing boat and saw pilot whales. On our last night, we saw some baby turtles hatch on the beach and scramble towards the ocean! Overall, a truly memorable and special stay. We got engaged here so will absolutely be returning for anniversaries! ❤️
Cons: Our Deluxe hillside room (14B) overlooks the road, as the room is open on one side each morning around 7am we would be woken up by the shuttle bus and other guests walking and talking down to breakfast. Also, we got engaged on the trip and my fiancée arranged the perfect proposal through the resort, so they knew about it, but didn’t offer us a congratulatory glass of bubbly - you have to pay for everything yourself here! For comparison, we went up to Jade Mountain for my fiancees birthday dinner the night before and we’re showered with champagne on arrival, chocolates and dessert by our fabulous server (Ned)! Didn’t ruin the experience at all, but was noted.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Beautiful location, scenery and beach are just stunning! The food is really good - and the variety on offer is exceptional. Would highly recommend this place;
Cons: The mosquitos can be a bit hungry - but its a small price to pay for such a beautiful environment!
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The ambiance of the hotel was a magical getaway for our 4-night minimoon. We loved the two beaches and how welcoming the staff were. The beach huts that you sit under created the perfect oasis to shield you from the sun. Immaculate grounds and the views of the Pitons are breath taking.
Cons: Most of the guest rooms do not have AC. While we love the "open air breeze" concept, it simply does not create a cool room. We were sweating every night going to bed which is not pleasant. The ceiling fan does little. I hope the hotel invests in putting AC in each room because it's needed. The meal plan was more expensive than other Caribbean resorts and we felt like we overpaid. The food was delicious at the beach restaurant but the Tree House restaurant didn't meet expectations. Most of the dishes had too many competing flavors. The Indian restaurant is fantastic and we ended up eating there every other night.
Excellent 10,0
The natural beauty of this area is incredible. With views of the pitons, and a beautiful calm beach in a bay. I snorkelled everyday several times, (just by swimming a couple of meters off the shore), and got to see SO much diversity in their own coral reef. Not many hotels have such good access to marine reserves. Never too busy, and with free access to paddle boards and good quality kayaks. There isn't a pool in this hotel, but you will not miss it. That beach and what those waters hold is a million times better than any swimming pool. The food fresh, tasty, surprising and very varied. While local ingredients were used, they clearly had chefs from all around the world cooking highly refined plates. Breakfast could be buffet but we chose the menu option everyday. They had very speedy drink and food service to the sun loungers in the beach, and even the food there was amazing shrimp cocktail, burgers, fresh fruit, cheesecake. The restaurant at the beach also had a rich menu. And the dinners were spectacular, with the sound of the sea in the background and lots of fresh produce. The bathrooms small with variable water pressure in the showers. After a day on the beach and in the sea a great shower is important, but these could have been better. Also the bathroom was very small. Rooms i can survive with no Aircon but the fans could have been more effective. In spite of the challenge of how many shutters to leave open and what to do with the mosquito net we actually slept really well. One small but important improvement would be to put phones in the rooms, if only to contact reception for room service requests, restaurant bookings etc. Otherwise the only option is to walk to reception, which may or may not be a challenge. Anse Mamin beach ooh toilet facilities are not for the fainthearted. If you're familiar with I'm A Celebrity you'll be familiar with the jungle dunny.
Okay 5,4
Pros: Very big room
Cons: They charge for everything. Very expensive and poor breakfast not included. No phone in the room, far to the beach.

Pros: The view from the swimming pool was amazing with the sunset or sunrise. We été able to see Soufrière town which is giving a coloured touch to the green scenario. The girls from the reception were very nice and helped us to find an hospital to do our Covid departure test. The security guy has also be friendly during our arrival on Thursday 11th at night ! So you so much for this amazing stay. The bed and pillows was perfect also !! Thank you so much !
Excellent 10,0
Pros: we got the cashew suite and loved hammock on the balcony, the view and of course the infinity pool.
Cons: we ate at the hotels „Lush restaurant“ because of the curfew. The price-quality ratio was according to us not that good
Mediocre 3,0
Pros: The view was amazing but same view can be seen up and down the road, you don't have to stay in this "resort" to enjoy it. The infinity pool was nice but can only use it until 5pm. Restaurant was nice, maybe because it has a different owner. Staff was responsive and able to fix a couple of problems we encountered.
Cons: Everything in the room was dirty. Don't be fooled by the pictures. Bugs and ants everywhere! Toilet bowl dirty and housekeeping said wouldn't come off. Owner should change the whole toilet bowl then. It's disgusting! Shower head broke off when adjusting the sprayer but they were able to fix it. Bed was comfy but the pillows were made of foam and breaks off all over the bed and on your clothing. There's a dog that's chained up and barks all night. The pool by the restaurant is not swimmable because it's so dirty. There's no TV in the room and there's nothing to do there at night. Wifi is very slow so if you're watching a movie on your laptop, it freezes every now and then. I wanted to leave after the 1st night but decided to just stay as I've already paid everything.
Good 6,0
Pros: The room is big and the bed is confortable. The pool is good and the view on the bay is amazing.
Cons: Équipments in the room are old. Lot of insects and bugs. Noisy dogs just close to the room.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We got a free upgrade on our room with a beautiful ocean view and hammock on the outdoor deck. The room was spacious and clean with working AC. The best part was the infinity pool overlooking the city of Soufriere and the Pitons.
Good 7,0
Pros: Beautiful view from room.. Infinity pool with spectacular view.
Cons: Staff not always as helpful or friendly as they could be. Not advertised that there is no bar or food beyond afternoon. Costs 20 US dollars to nearest town if you eat out. No shuttle from hotel into town. Room was self catering, so we could buy food and cook, but not aware of this until we got there.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The view of the pitons is extraordinary. Our room was nice with a comfortable bed, air conditioning and large balcony. The breakfast is tasty with good variety. The infinity pool is gorgeous. The grounds are charming.
Cons: The main pool is very dated. The infinity pool is beautiful but it’s part of the owner’s villa and has quite limited hours. The mosquito netting has holes. The location is not walkable.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: clean rooms with AC, excellent views, quiet at night.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Beautiful view of the Pitons

Excellent 8,0
Pros: Beautiful beach and pool area with views of the Pitons, snorkeling right off the beach and very friendly staff. Also, excellent chef, hummingbirds in the garden.
Cons: It is right beside the local Soufriere beach so there is loud music playing on the weekends. We would stay during the week next time.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Extraordinary view. Easy access to beach and short taxi rides to Soufriere sights. Staff very kind. Enjoyed delicious breakfast each morning with visiting hummingbirds and bullfinches, overlooking the sea. Had 1 dinner, which was very good also. Our taxi driver arranged by the resort, "the General," was wonderful.
Cons: No comfortable chairs in our room or on veranda. Noise on weekend nights from beach. Impossible to block out pounding bass. TV didn't work.
Good 6,0
Pros: I love the property; beautiful setting, fantastic gardens, all the plants, flowers and trees if St Lucia. The staff as always are excellent (my 4/5 time there). The accommodation is in need of an urgent upgrade.
Cons: The accommodation, requires improvement, bathroom, taps not functioning, fridge not working. I like the improvement to the beach area; a good place for slumming it of an evening, save for the Thursday night Karaoke!
Excellent 8,8
Pros: Gorgeous views and great staff, especially Shay
Cons: Room was quite dark, not much natural light

Excellent 8,0
Pros: Great location on the beach with fantastic view from our balcony very good breakfast. No air con but room kept very cool with ceiling fan and breeze
Cons: Lost WiFi for 2 days and lots of mosquitoes
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The staff was exceptional. Everybody was very nice and looking to help. The view was outstanding. The included breakfast was a great way to start the day.
Cons: I don't really have many complaints. The only problem I had was the bed. It wasn't very comfortable, but it wasn't too bad.

Excellent 8,3
Pros: Big clean rooms right in the centre of town
Cons: Beds were very noisy!
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Good value for money, quiet despite location being on a busy street. Not sure why people were complaining about stairs in the previous reviews. Yes, there is a flight of stairs but they’re normal sized.
Good 7,0
Pros: The staff were always helpful during our week long stay. The area was very nice and it was usually quiet in the neighborhood. There was an electrical converter already in the room to accommodate my charger. The "Golden spoon" restaurant was yummy. Nice view of the ocean/sunset.
Cons: The wifi was weak or inconsistent. The bathroom needed more lighting. I could not plug in the kettle.
Good 6,0
Pros: Room was clean. Balcony great. View great. Staff very friendly and helpfull
Cons: Many homeless and beggars around and also inside the lobby. Very shabby. And stink of drain in the evening.
Good 7,0
Pros: Great location, great view if you have a seaward facing room.
Excellent 8,8
Pros: The Staff was phenomenal when it came to helping out with whatever we needed. Starting from extra towels to guiding with getting to and from the local tourism spots, they helped us with everything.
Cons: I didn't like that hotel didn't have any kitchen accessible to the guests, given the setup of the hotel, having access to a common cooking area would be an perk.
Good 6,8
Pros: The staff are very helpful; the rooms are large and very clean; the ac worked well which was key at this point of my trip; the location was in central Soufriere. I had an overnight on St. Lucia and needed to go from one airport to the other. This was a beautiful part of the island.
Cons: The location means you will be followed by panhandlers, sometime for blocks. The hotel is located on the third floor of a building requiring you to climb stairs to get to the lobby. If you've a lot of luggage this may be difficult. The rooms are a bit rough around the edges but generally ok. The road to get to Soufriere is winding and slow. It was an 1 1/2 hours from the airport in the north and about 1 hour to the airport in the south. The total taxi charge for the two rides was $180 (a bit higher than suggested in guide books).

Pros: Beautiful view of the pitons from our room, Hosts were very friendly and welcoming Excellent for travellers on a budget
Cons: The shower could do with an update
Mediocre 2,5
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Warning do not book here ever. They want a full deposit for a reason. Just walking in they already had gotten half or our stay from the credit card. 5nights. And as soon as Ee checker in they asked for he other half in cash. Fotos are 10 years old. Nothing like what you see in pic. But the worse is that they don’t have water. They turn on water when they want. We went for dinner to town and they said they will close the water when they go to bed at 8pm. I said no. We are having dinner we need water to shower and brush teeth etc. Got back at 10pm. No water at all. Called them since they live upstairs and no answer. The WiFi they insisted that I have to give them my devices to put the password them selfs. No idea why but at this point I don’t trust showing my laptop or tablet since I leave those in the room. Parking is horrible no lights outside the room and it’s in the middle of the mountain. When we came in at Night there was a huge rat outside that you could barely see since there was no light and we came in with the cellphone light. Needless to say we left that night with 300$ less for no reason this guys are a ripoff
Excellent 8,3
Pros: Views on Petit Piton are great! Mickael, the owner, is very kind.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Scenery was great and located just outside of town to avoid the city noise.
Mediocre 3,3
Pros: The view from my room was brilliant, He upgraded me to a Spacious room, that's all I can say about it.
Cons: There was very little water to have a shower, no transport to take me back up the hill to the uptown guesthouse, in my experience, no one with a weak heart should undertake this walk to The Uptown Guesthouse.member of staff.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: The house is up on the hill overlooking Soufriere so it is quieter and has trees around for shade. It has a spectacular view of the city and Petit Piton. Michael is a very kind host and made the stay very enjoyable. He personally drove me back to the airport on my last day. I would recommend this guesthouse if you are staying in the area.
Cons: When I arrived Michael told me I should pay in cash, and that was not clear from emails or information from my booking. Things worked out fine but if you stay here definitely contact ahead to see if you will need to pay cash. There was low water pressure during the daytime, but when I told Michael about it he called a plumber immediately and resolved the issue.
Okay 4,6
Pros: The view is fantastic.
Cons: No restaurant for breakfast , no hot water , the sound of a thousand roosters and dogs echoing up the hill , made it impossible to sleep , 75 US per night not great value for money.
Mediocre 2,5
Pros: Location
Cons: My recommendation: do not visit this place. Several things were not Ok during the stay. - for cleaning the room the owner needed the key and asked if he could leave the door unlocked and put the key in the room. I rejected because I had several belongings in my room and he said he would be available from 6pm on and give me the key back personally. I said I will arrive at night. When coming home at 10pm I called out his name, but there was no answer. Then I saw. Not only was my room unlocked, the key was left outside so everyone could see that the room was unlocked. When confronting him, he said that he asked another guest to keep an eye for the door. Unbelievable - no hot water for the first 4 days (boiler was broken) - no electricity for a day (uptown transformator broke) - no water at all for 1 day (if it's because of the boiler change then there was no notice about it) - there is a toilet in the room (not separated from the other rooms). There is a bar for a curtain to hang. I asked him to put the curtain, he promised he would change it, but didnt: again he didnt keep his word - he promised to change the lock because the door was hard to open, but he didnt. - when after all this I wanted to leave 1 day earlier and move to another place without paying the last night, the owner Michael got very aggressive. That is not how you treat a guest. You keep your words (especially the one with the locked door). He added "then give me a bad review, I dont care, people come here anyway". This truely shows how much he cares for his guests.
Okay 5,4
Pros: You can enjoy a great view of the Pitons from the balcony. 10 min walk down to Soufriere, back uphill 15-20 min.
Cons: Moderate standard of the room, but clean!
Okay 5,0
Pros: View and location.
Cons: Not as advertised. Very! rustic. Could use a bit of an up-date such as a bathroom door, double door lock, and even a bit of warm water would help. Clean or at least usable deck chairs would be great. No restaurant or bar. No security. Not great parking. Cash only. Very Noisy all night. Bring earplugs if you don't want to hear party music, dogs, and roosters. Seriously, did you know roosters crowed all night?
