Decoration in the room (sexy girls on posters). Toilet lock wasn't working Old and basic(=dangerous) kitchen equipement. Greassy smell in the kitchen
I love the area so convenient in everything or every where u want to go... bathroom cleaned each an every morning
Floors, beds, bedding needs to be refreshed they r so old mattress not comfy at all...pillow cases worst one ever...Everytime we close our room became staffy bcs the floor ' jikeleza needs to b renovated @least few things
We have had a great time at Jikeleza, the kind stuff has helped us with an Addo park tour very spontaneously. Large and comfortable common spaces.
As mentioned by many, the lavatory is located maybe 15 meters from the room door. Not a problem for us but could be a bit annoying in case of rain as there is no roof above the sidewalks. Room is a bit humid and wifi signal is very weak in some areas of the property.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The cleanliness level was very good. The bedding was clean and the bed comfortable.
The cabin we stayed in smelled mouldy. The cupboard had no doors and the shelving had splintered surfaces which could damage clothes. I could deal with walking through the rain to get to the bathroom, but there should at least be a kettle with tea/coffee sachets in the cabin.
I enjoy sharing Chinese food with the staff and other guests in the hotel, and they also shared African food with me. It is very nice to be able to meet and chat with local African in this hostel. Port Elizabeth is generally quite safe, I had been walking around the city by foot. And there is an excellent park just besides the hostel.
