Pros: Breakfast was well served, the braai (barbecue) served for dinner is amazing (a must have), rooms were clean and had comfortable beds. The lodge’s host, Sander, was one of the best hosts we’ve seen in our trips. He helped us a lot with tour tips/guidance, arrangements for game drives, and when we had to leave early for a self drive tour at the Kruger, he prepared us a nice breakfast to take away (with sandwiches/fruits and hot coffee/tea).
Cons: Nothing. We only stayed there for three nights, and we needed more.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This is a small bed and breakfast type experience with 4 very nicely appointed private rooms with baths. The owners cook you an excellent breakfast and gladly take you to dinner in the town and share their experiences living in South Africa for the last 20 years. The owners are a couple originally from Holland...very nice people! The lodge is immaculate and very well appointed with a great outside space for eating, pool for swimming, fire pit for evening drinks, etc. The lodge is in a wildlife estate...it is a "neighborhood" with large lots and paved roads then has dirt, bush roads you can explore in your car to see all the wildlife that does not just stroll by the pool. :) There zebra, giraffe, warthogs, all types of antelope, porcupine, etc....and a leapard on site. We were there just after the mating season so there were little ones running around everywhere....including lots of birds...kingfishers, rollers, hornbills, ibis, etc. The location is great because even though you are among the wildlife, the roads are all paved and you are literally 5 minutes from town (fuel, restaurants, shopping, and the airport. You are also very close to the Kruger gate.
Cons: The place was excellent, but this is not "in the bush, roughing it, safari" type experience. So if you are looking for that, go into the park or sabi sands (where we stayed for a couple of days at Umkumbe lodge. Loved both experiences!

Pros: I'm mentioned what is coming up to my mind, but is more than what I'm about to write! - Sander, the owner, does barbecue with exquisite meat every night. The barbecue is served in an open area nearby an open fireplace, soft music, candle lights and a buffet of salad and sides which are delicious. Plus, wine + homemade ice cream + coffee. What else do we need? - I was trabelling alone with a 6 months old baby. I had a nany arranged by the wife's owner and supervised by her everytime I needed. So nice! - all the tours and game drives I wanted to do they arranged for me with high quality partners, took me anywhere I wanted to and for a fair price - great location - very charming place - staff (EVERYONE) was really nice and not "too much". - facilities + internet worked perfectly - great breakfast - good energy - just 3 minutes walking from a reserve full of girafes, zebras and other great animals. DEFINATELY, you should get it!
Cons: Nothing to declare. Everything was much more than expected.

Pros: Host was excellent. Food was great. Comfortable accommodation. Friendly
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Firstly, Sander is an excellent host. He goes out of his way to make your stay the best. The facilities and accommodation are truly fantastic. There is a heated pool that we used even in winter. The surrounds are beautiful and scenic. The room is large enough and is very comfortable, it is full of character and exudes a great ambience. The dinner was excellent and the drinks are very reasonably priced. Sander organised 2 safari drives and a boat ride through the Blyde Canyon, all 3 were excellent and again reasonably priced. The only sad thing is we could only stay the 1 night, this place deserves at least 3 nights. There are mountain bikes that you can use to explore the surrounding area which we didn't have time to use. Even relaxing for 1 day here doing nothing but soaking up the atmosphere would be worth it. The attention to detail here is great.
Cons: Nothing, it was all fabulous.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room is beautiful, and the service is top quality. This is the best place I have stayed in South Africa, and one of the best anywhere in Africa.
Cons: Everything was excellent
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the Logde and the hospitality of Sander and Juliette very much. Lodge is conveniently located between the Panorama route and Kruger Park, within a small private reserve with animals. It has all the comfort of European facilities (even a little extra attention, like a citronel cream from moscitoes)and a unique style of Africa done with a lot of taste. We took advantage of the road bikes kindly proposed by Sander, also the barbecue nights with great food and wine. We have also enjoyed the Blyde canyon hike that Sander advised, it is one of the true highlights of the trip. Thanks a lot again, Sander and Juliette, for your hospitality

Pros: The owner, Sander, was very informative about things we should do at the Blyde River Canyon and what to be mindful of.
Cons: That we didn’t book more than the one night!

Pros: Very relaxing place, great management and delicious food.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Sander & Julia embraces the African Rock Lodge much more than a business itself, but also with their sympathy and kindness. I have never been hosted with such dedication and willingness to make the guest comfortable and enjoy the Safari adventure. I'd certainly recommend the lodge to my family and friends.
Cons: Nothing.

9,3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were absolutely amazing. The food was excellent. The views, the garden and the property lovley. We will go back there for sure.
Cons: Maybe they should have block out curtains in the bedrooms the light outside shines through the curtains so it makes the room very light.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Impressive was all female staff welcome you warmly upon arrival and insisted in taking the luggage to the room. Appointments such as spa treatments and game drives were made at short notice by the manager and Khaya Ndlovu team. The personal touch and attention to detail was omnipresent. The service rendered by support staff is indicative of excellent training is in turn reflective of brand Khaya Ndlovu. We highly recommend both the evening and morning game drives which were conducted by knowledgeable game rangers, Darren and Robert augmented by the expert tracking skills of Sam. The massage overlooking the expanse of bush in fresh air was invigorating. The view from the Deck is imprinted on my memory forever.
Cons: I loved EVERYTHING and will certainly go back!

Pros: The game drive was exceptional
Cons: None
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Setting and view.
Cons: would have liked a bath tub
7,0 Good
Pros: Main house is beautiful and view from the pool magnificent.
Cons: Dinner - although the fish was lovely in main course, would of liked a choice between 2 options - one fish or red meat? The facilities of the garden suite - ie kitchen cupboards, utensils are outdated and kitchen dustbin lid broken. During our game drive of 3 hours we did not stop for our mid-drive drinks, which we were looking forward to.

Pros: Everything! A very professionally run Game Lodge with excellent staff, superb facilities and fantastic catering.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The facilities, room, staff, food and game drives were all extraordinary. It was very good value.
Cons: I personally found the bed somewhat uncomfortable, however my family did not have any issue. Bring a good rain pancho, because theirs are nylon and not completely effective if it rains during a game drive.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Very nice staff, superb game drives, good food!
9,5 Excellent
Pros: We had the best time during our stay, everything is taken care off. Great location, conveniently located in the game reserve, safaris were amazing. The food, especially dinner, was delicious and very cosy in the boma.
Cons: Nothing
9,3 Excellent
Pros: It was dry season when we where there and the Lodge provided a lovely oasis of greenery to sit and relax in the garden watching the odd buffalo or warthog test out the fencing! The sleeping accommodation was large and comfortable and the outside shower was, well... a little different. The evening meal taken with the other guests was an enjoyable affair and breakfast was a thorough mix with the usual offerings. They're got the game drives off to a tee. We liked the fact we kept the same ranger/driver for all the drives so we didn't go down the same routes again and again - and the ranger sought out species we'd not yet seen. I felt they try to group guests with the same arrival dates as well for the same reasons. A nice touch. So was it worth it? Well, leaving aside the comfort factor - we got to see 4 of the 'big 5' - close up. By that I mean within a few feet - a male lion was more or less by the wheels chewing his way through an Impala snack. No Elephants on our drives - but we did miss the last one (airport beckoned). We had a Ford Ecosport and I wouldn't have liked to have driven the 7km track to the lodge in anything less robust. Not a problem - just something to be aware of.
9,5 Excellent
Pros: Our stay was perfect. Special thanks to our great guides Sam and Richard who did everything to give us the ultimate Safari experience including the big 5!
Cons: Nothing - everything was great
9,3 Excellent
Pros: The food has a strangely familiar 80s dinner party vibe that I love and is cooked really really well. The drives were great and we saw so much. If you have a few days for a safari then I can't say strongly enough that Mohlabetsi and the Balule are a great choice.
Cons: It doesn't feel as bush as some but this was my second visit in 4 months so not much I don't like.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Every meal was lovely. We ate out, looking over the reserve, under the stars, accompanied by the Rangers who shared great stories with us all. The staff were extremely helpful and looked after us really well. Rooms were plenty big enough and had all you needed for a comfortable, relaxing stay. Our room had views out over the reserve. The afternoon dip in the pool was an added bonus, but all in all, a great place to spend a few days if you get a chance. Oh, and by the way, the game drives, Rangers and Trackers were awesome. Top marks all round for a fantastic lodge. I can see why a number of guests we met return again and again.

Pros: Dear Kim, Sander and Arne, thank you so much for the absolute awesome stay at kurhula Wildlife lodge. Everything was great, lovely personal, the view on the river, the breakfast, and of course the dinner were amazing! Thank you so much for making my birthday such a beautiful day I won't forget! 9,5 Excellent
Pros: It’s a quiet place, perfect to chill surrounded by wildlife. You will get the chance to see lots of animals in the garden, from imapalas and monkeys to elephants!!!
Cons: The road to the lodge it’s not in the best conditions and even though it’s only 15 km away, it can take you about 40 min to get to the main antrance of the reserve.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: Bed very comfy and BIG Food excellent Hoist very friendly and super
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This place is next to perfect in every way. The hosts go out of their way to make everything completely effortless and comfortable. The elephants in the garden made it special. The wildlife and birds next to the river are mesmerizing. The river location magical and the food was amazing. This is a place to come to relax and unwind. It’s small yet large enough to do your own thing and not be disturbed. The pool is perfect. The hosts, Riana and Ane are diamonds who couldn’t do enough to make our Christmas break one of the best ever. Living in South Africa, we would rate this as one of the best lodges that we’ve stayed in. We are definitely planning another trip here. Bonus we saw giraffes and zebras as we left.
Cons: There is nothing that we didn’t like.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was absolutely magnificent. Kim and Sander are so lovely and kind hosts and overall most interesting to talk to. The lodge is right on the river and you can spend the whole day watching animals passing by in the garden and on the river. Kim is also an amazingly talented chef...every evening was like heaven on our plates. And for me it was just a once in a lifetime experience because Kim knows about gluten and lactose intolerance and she prepared so many nice dishes for me. They also arranged a game drive where we saw 4 lions just next to the car. This continued under water because both recommended the best dive spot in South Africa. Thx so much and good luck with your new project, the Bare Feet Retreat. We will come back.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great hosts and an unbelievable setting. Could sit watching the river all day. Food was also very tasty and large portions of top quality home cooked meals.
Cons: Facilities are definitely more worn and tired than you expect from photos and social media. Cost touch on the high side.
9,3 Excellent
Pros: What a gem! It's a very small, family run lodge - 4 very nice rooms, immersed in nature. Wonderfully relaxing, perfect choice if you are looking for peace and quiet. We stayed for two nights but would gladly have stayed more. Excellent food.
Cons: The dirt track going there is pretty bad but not unmanageable even with a standard sedan. Wouldn't want to try it with rain, though.
7,0 Good
Cons: small room with standard comfort

Pros: The location on the river
7,0 Good
Pros: The room was very impressively decorated, loved the bathroom and views from the private deck were just lovely. Animals roaming on the lawn, a river beyond, peace and quiet, what more could a guest ask for. A few more tea bags would not have gone astray.
Cons: Dinner and breakfast was ordinary, nothing to rave about and little thought to presentation and service. Staff need more hospitality training
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Stayed in the Owl House. Very beautiful and spacious for the 2 of us. Only 1 bathroom which may be an issue with more people. The grounds were beautiful, very special having animals walking around.
7,0 Good
Pros: The location is too far than expected when we got there. That gravel!yoh. Its very long and need someone with Bakkie. Otherwise, the place is so quite and peaceful for one to forget about everything and think about only themselves. And the stuff, God i already miss them. They are lovely and kind to their guest.
Cons: Well, I didn't like not having connection, but after they explained to me why, i loved the idea and forgot about my phone. No television but it was worth it without it.

Pros: All the staff were wonderful, particularly Patrick and Frans, who were extremely knowledgeable about all the animals and the whole area. Eliot was very flexible about his menu due to my food allergies.

Pros: friendly and helpful staff
Cons: direction not easy to find
6,8 Good
Pros: Food, location
3,6 Mediocre
Pros: The room was nice but there were 2 single beds and no double bed
Cons: The food was terrible, cold and out of date. The lodge ran out of food for breakfast on our second day so we packed up and left. It was more like a 2 star hotel than a 4 star.
