The day before my scheduled pick up I was called by the Hertz location informing me that they had a shortage of cars, and that hey were pretty sure that they would not have a vehicle available for me. I made this reservation and prepaid in full in February. I informed them that I had made the reservation to be able to transport my mother to and from her chemotherapy appointment at the hospital that afternoon, and that it was very important that I have a vehicle. They apologized and told me that there was nothing that they could do. They also recommended that I call when I landed in Portland to see if a vehicle was available, but again he told me he didn't see that happening. I asked about getting a refund so that I could rent from another place, and was told that they were unable to do that because I booked through a third party site, and that any refund would need to be taken care of through them When I landed there was not a car available. I had to take a cab to the hospital to see my mother, who made other arrangements to get to her appointment. They didn't have a car for me until 8 hours later. They didn't call me to tell me the car was available. I had to call them to find out. Went to the establishment, had a wait of 20 minutes. Was charged for taxes. Asked about getting a discount on my rental and they told me since I had prepaid in full they were unable to do anything for me. The windshield on the vehicle was filthy. They sent someone out to clean it. They did a really crappy job, and I had to take it to a gas station to clean the windshield. There was also less than 1/4 tank of gas in it, so had to fill up right after picking up the car. When I went to return the car, it was another 15 minute wait. This was a terrible experience. I have never had so many complications with a service that I prepaid 6 months in advance for.2,4 Poor

Had to wait for a car until another person dropped one off. No cars in Portland. How do you give cars to people and not have a car for someone like us who has a reservation. We had a mid size car rented, had to take a small Yaris with no cruise control. Smaller car but had to pay the same rate as a mid size car. Car was not clean when we picked it up. Your system allowed me to make a reservation for a time when your store is not open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had to get a car from another company after already. Hertz at the airport would not honor the reservation. First time kayak user who travels often.....Will not use your service again!!!!Budget

Cons:
There was no owners manual in the car, for information on operation of the different modes of four wheel drive. There was not a snow brush or even an ice scraper. We got the four wheel drive vehicle specifically to go to the Mt. Hood/Government Camp area.10,0 Wonderful

I call budget before booking on Kayak for pricing. They 1st told me that they don’t book these kind of vans one way. I told them that I’m seeing it online that they do. They put me on hold and came back with a one day one way price of $380. I told the guy that thru Kayak I can rent it for $69 per day. He told me that “ then I suggest you rent it thru Kayak”. I was very happy with the rental. We reserved a bit late for the August 2017 crush, and this was the only location in the Portland OR area that still had cars. Nonetheless, we had extremely pleasant service and timely pickup. Couldn't have been happier.10,0 Wonderful

I rented during the 2017 eclipse week in Portland when demand for cars was exceptionally high. They put a special representative in the lot to expedite the rental when I came in and they upgraded me at no cost to a Prius. Could not have been better.Avis

My input in the website was for only PDX, when my wife arrived to pick up the vehicle at the PDX Avis counter, they told her that her reservation was at another Avis location away from the airport (not a typical off-site with an airport shuttle). Why did the website not clearly state that this was a different location??? Avis offered a compact car at a rate 50% more than what was reserved for a premium vehicle. I called Avis and they were unwilling to do anything for us. After complaining to a supervisor over the phone, they said they would credit us $20 (the upcharge was around $30). Rodney5,2 Fair

nice truck . this is about the rental process not pickup & dropoff locations. thats a deflection.Cons:
1 - A 12ft truck was reserved & confirmed. But later at the rental counter, it had been rented out already. Only 16ft available. Is someone reimbursing my fuel cost delta? 2 - Confirmed cost $431. Credit Card payment > $530. You think it would show me the tax & extras? Yes in the fine print I later saw a note about taxes, It's is still a cloudy way to do business. another lesson learned!Car hire locations in or near Sandy
