The Checy Suburban I got had close to 40,000 miles on it usually when I Rent-A-Car it will have very very very little miles but this one had a rough 40,000. I don’t know if the truck was abused or if most Chevys run that way at 40,000 miles but for the price I paid I didn’t complain !2,8 Poor

I got a working car to use while the weather is in the single digits and while my car is in the shop.Cons:
The manager David at the tiny, sketchy Avis location first blamed and disrespected me for “canceling” my reservation multiple times - I booked through the Kayak app and the guy wouldn’t let it go. Then, although I had my screen pulled up but not a print out, he wouldn’t honor the daily rate of 39.99. Then he told me he didn’t have the car I reserved so he was “forced” to upgrade me thus (apparently) rendering useless the insurance I purchased via Kayak/Hotwire. David then put my NEW contract on the screen for a total reservation time of 6 days when I had only reserved three, and the total was $572.00!!! I asked him to fix it and he refused saying he had already authorized my card and “everything would work out” if I brought the car back “early,” even though “early” in this case was the initially agreed upon rental period. He told me that the only contract he’d be writing for me was the one on the screen. I had him write on the digital copy that the contract was incorrect before I signed. I got my car, and the next day he CALLED me to tell me there were more charges being put on my bill and he just “didn’t want me to be surprised”. I was FURIOUS. I would have returned the car that minute if I had been able to. In all, I had to fight with this guy over every charge and I still wound up paying nearly $300 for my 3 day rental. I wanted to have a great experience booking through Kayak, but I got the WORST rental experience of my life.10,0 Wonderful

When I returned the car in Paramus, everything was also quick and easy, and the associates gave excellent customer service. The best part: filling up my tank cost $12. When I returned my car less than full to Hertz, they charged me $10/gallon for the filling -- on TOP of the charge for the actual gas. Never again Hertz. They have too much hidden unnecessary charges. Like tolls beware! You can’t use your own EZ pass on their cars and even without using the bill you get is too much.2,0 Poor

Even though I made a reservation, paid in full, almost three months before my trip, when the departure day arrived the vehicle I had reserved was not available. It can't get worse than that. Never Hertz again.8,0 Very Good

I made a reservation for a car through Kayak with Hertz and when I got there , no cars were available even with my reservation. I was in another sate, with no cars, and had to call Uber going to different rental companies until I found a car. Hertz explained that Kayak does not check their inventories before allowing customers to make reservations through their sites. Both companies are incompetent. Would not recommend either. In addition, Kayak phone system is so poor that it makes it is very difficult to speak to a representative. The prompts will keep giving you the round around until you give up without. A simple and straightforward press on "0" to stalk to a rep will suffice but they do on purpose to discourage the customer. Call avoidance at its best. Will definitely not use not he future and will advise friends not to either.2 locations in Paramus
