I rented from your car because they had a good price per day for the car. But when I got to the UK and picked up the car from the airport, the euro car representative at the rentals site informed me the insurance was almost three times as much as the daily rate for the car. I wasn't expecting that at all. I had to put 1000 pound hold, about US$1400 on my credit card in order not to have to pay this extra fee even though I have insurance through my credit card company and through my State Farm insurance Co. in the United States, to use my insurance.

Customers should be aware that Europcar will not go or credit card insurance coverage. I was made to purchase Europcar insurance and told I could drive the car away without a europcar insurance policy. This effectively doubled the cost of the car rental! In addition the car provided was old, worn, and smaller than I expected.

As I had to return the car early and put the keys in the outside safe there were no staff to check over the car with me.

My booking was for 8.00am, I arrived at 7.35am - I could collect the car for an extra charge of GBP105... I opted to go for breakfast, better value for money. Returned at 8.15 and stood in the British January weather in the wide open for 15 to 20 minutes waiting for my turn to even get inside. This is when the magic really started - my Renault Captur (classed as an SUV by Sixt) was turned into a Skoda Fabia (manual) which is not even listed as an option with Sixt but the Automatic version is considered a saloon - yes, somehow Sixt believe that a typical Hatchback is the same as a saloon... Overall, how would I rate the Sixt experience - one of the worst ever and I have been renting cars at UK airports for over 10 years, on average once per month.

I inadvertently booked the wrong dates. I tried to get both qeeq and budget to change to the correct dates but no luck, so I lost usd100 for a no show. Not a great experience.

Pros:

I got a brand new car, it only had 65 miles, I was the 2nd person to hire it.

Cons:

Check in process was slow, there was a queue of about 8 people in front of me and 2 people behind me (Probably because the prices were so low)

somewhat inconvenient pickup - have to walk with cases quite a long way

Atrocious service. Arrived with my dog after checking terms & conditions were fine, to be told my dog was 'too excited' & so I was refused my car. Of course I was not offered a refund. We all know what car hire companies can be like. Avoid this one until it goes out of business

Cheap and efficient

Cons:

I needed to extend the car and it was £21 cheaper to do this via a broker which meant I had to make the trip to green motion to effectively hand over another £400 deposit to keep the same car. Why this couldn't be done over the phone, I do not know.
